The Star INN the City, most Yorkies will have noticed being built in the last few months in the gorgeous setting on the river by Lendall Bridge, has opened to the public TODAY. Last night the restaurant has is opening night and launch party will have been a night to remember for all involved.
The restaurant is owned by former Michelin starred chef Andrew Pern, who became famous through his other restaurant The Star at Harome. His country pub is critically acclaimed and from experience, if the York equivalent is half as good then all foodies in York are in for a treat.
The Star Inn the City aims to be fully operational by November 1st, however the restaurant has already had over 5000 reservations. So if you're planning to go there, then you have to be quick to get one of the most desired tables in York.
Expectation is very high for the York restaurant in the wake of awards won in Harome. Andrew Pern's restaurant won swathes of awards and in 2011 was the highest ranked restaurant in the north of England, while in 2012 it was ranked the 3rd best Gastro Pub in the UK. Even if expectation is so high, it is great to know that Andrew Pern will be carrying on his philosophy of serving locally sourced ingredients.
