The false widow spider, britains most venomous, has been spotted in numbers in our city. The spider, identified by its bulbous abdomen, has been spotted in layerthorpe and has sparked fear into some residents.
Don't be too worried though, the spider (around the size of a 50p) will only bite if provoked, and even then, it's bite is not deadly. The bite will cause severe swelling and possible nausea. These symptoms will subside after 3-4 days.
Just something to watch out for Yorkies.
