7. Jinnah restaurant. A fantastic and authentic Indian takeaway and restaurant. It has the advantage of being a delivery service and and is flexible in terms of its takeaway menu with a wide array of tasty curries and sundries.

6. Red Chilli. Although from reports the Red Chilli's real dining experience slightly pips its takeaway services, this is one of the best Chinese takeaways in York. The originality and authenticity of their menu is what sets it apart. The only downside is the fact it doesn't deliver.

5. Triton's Fish and Chips. Yorks best Chippy, located in the centre of town. Does far more than your standard haddock and chips which gives you the variety you need if you love your battered food. Most importantly they do the basics well with a lovely crisp batter and great chips.

4. Mumbai Lounge. A unique and authentic Indian dining experience with a fantastic takeaway service. Forget your stodgy and fatty curries, the Mumbai Lounge offer a takeaway experience to remember with dishes fresh from the restaurant's kitchen. Surely York's best Curry house

3. Khao San Road. A remarkable Thai restaurant located near the city centre with a magnificent takeaway facility. Surely one of, if not, York's best asian restaurant. Their takeaways keep the high standards of their restaurant and from experience i can say you will never have tasted Takeaway Thai food like this.

2. Wok and go. New noodle bar in the place of Wokon on Petergate. Had lots of mentions about this place since it opened so I popped in yesterday, I have never been so pleasantly surprised. You can have a buy one get one free on Large Noodle boxes as well as having a wide array of extras and sundries. The selection on offer here is superb and if you are in York and need a takeaway lunch, this is the only place to go for noodles and asian food.

1. The Shambles Kitchen. If you are in York for a bite to eat, for your lunch or just a light snack as you walk down the shambles, this is the only place to go. Words cannot describe their Pulled Pork Sandwich. They also offer a fantastic selection of soups and other dishes to takeaway as well as some house specialities.
