5. The Jorvik Centre. Despite the long queues this Centre is well worth the wait to fully understand York's Viking past. The Jorvik centre offers a fully immersive experience for all the senses and allows the visitor to fully appreciate the history. The actors and the depth and detail the centre goes into is something that cannot be missed for anyone on a trip to York.

4. The York Walls. If you are in York for a day and want to fully understand and appreciate the city as a whole the walk around the city walls cannot be missed. On the walk you will walk the route that is the old Roman fortress of Eboracum, whilst seeing the best of York's sights. The photo opportunities are second to none and with informative placards around the wall you will be sure to understand York better as whole after walking the route.

3. The York Dungeon. Surely the finest of any of the dungeons across the UK thee York one in particular allows the visitor to appreciate the darker side of one of the country's most historic cities. In the dungeon you will meet fantastic actors tasked with frightening, humouring and telling the terrible story of their character. Beware, you will meet Witches, Romans, Vikings and see the Darker side of our haunted city on a journey you will never forget.

2. The National Railway Museum. This museum is one of York's most famous and popular attractions as it truly has something for all the family. Whether you are interested in trains or not you cannot fail to appreciate the unbelievable machines which are on show. The museum shows some of the finest trains ever to be built as well as giving people a learning experience, particularly kids. This museum is the one in York that just cannot be missed.

1. The Minster. This is undoubtedly York's most iconic and awe-striking attraction. After a visit to the Minster, particularly if you have never seen it before it is a trip that will never be forgotten. The Minster as well as being York's tallest building is The worlds largest Gothic Cathedral. Similarly its history is remarkable and will be best sampled by one of the guided tours of the inside of the Mister. If you only do one thing York, I have to say, go and appreciate the Minster.
