The Old Government House Hotel & Spa is by far, the best hotel we have ever stayed in. From start to finish, the staff were fantasic. They were beyond helpful and always friendly. They even spent time getting to know their guests. We were lucky enough to be residing in one of the hotel's stunning suites. The room was beautiful and the view from the balcony was outstanding! The facilities throughout the hotel were excellent - from the fantasic brasserie restaurant to the spa. But we would have to say, the staff were the highlight. We were truly taken care of throughout our stay and the OGH team honestly made our honeymoon extra special. We would highly recommend this hotel & spa as a place to stay for anyone visiting Guernsey, but if you are looking for exceptional on a special occasion (like a honeymoon or anniversary), the OGH is definitely the place to stay!

An incredible hotel that really made our birthday weekend away. Great location and nice old style rooms (in a special way), all with exceptional service and friendly staff. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are visiting St Peter Port.

Travelled with my husband, Stephen Potter to this wonderful hotel and spent 3 nights here for my birthday. The hotel itself is centrally located in an elevated position in St Peter Port. It is a stunning location, with lovely gardens and a heated pool. The best part however are the staff. Everyone wants you to have the best time possible, and nothing is too much trouble. The food here is also excellent and the head chef is very talented and versatile. We tried their new garden menu, cooked outside, which was wonderful, we also had a fantastic breakfast every morning and a wonderful curry in the intimate setting of the governors room. It was all brilliant, and we will be back again in June, can’t wait!

Had king size room with sea view. Decor and furniture were slightly tired. Shower very small. Brilliant spa/gym facilities. Staff friendly and keen to help. Quiet location, yet good for accessing bus station/port, shops and restaurants. Would return

Some of the most friendly and helpful staff I have ever encountered and everywhere is immaculately clean. Great location too. Marked down only on the basis that there is the odd thing here and there - for example a bit of worn/frayed carpet or a screen that needs repair but nothing that would ruin your stay. Also could never figure out what the switches next to the bed were supposed to do......but would definitely recommend for anyone wanting a few days of relaxation in comfortable surroundings.

On arrival, we handed our car keys to reception and our car was whisked away and then redelivered to the street outside reception the next morning when we needed it. This was a great service, leaving us carefree regarding parking. One evening, we were even given a lift to a restaurant, in our own car. Thanks.

Our room was spotless, but dated and it felt cluttered. There was so much stuff on every surface that I felt a bit claustrophobic at first, but settled in. The windows didn't seal very well, so we had cold seeping in from outside, which reception sorted out by providing an extra electric radiator.

We ate in the curry club our first evening. The service was superb, the food was fabulous and tasty. I was surprised at how expensive it all was, but would recommend it for a treat-night.

Another evening, we had snacks at the bar which were tasty and far more reasonably-priced.

Our main impression from our stay here was the fantastic service from the staff. Every person we met was unfailingly friendly, keen to help and really knowledgeable about the hotel and services.

Thoroughly recommended.

My wife and I visited here on a Saturday evening and were offered a fixed price two course menu by a waitress. On deciding what we would have a waiter came to take the order and told us it was 'a la carte' on a Saturday and the fixed price set menu was not available. So we started to look and order again and then ordered, what fantastic food, so well cooked and presented and we really enjoyed it, so under marks for excellent being slightly disappointed by the original offer of the set menu. (a training issue?). Will go again when in Jersey (when the set menu is on!)

Absolutely amazing food. Great service. Very friendly staff. Great location. It is very pricey but what else can you expect? If you fancy a really good quality meal in a beautiful location and just want to splash out that little bit more, head for this place!

We recently spent a Friday evening here for a family meal, and left disappointed after a very average experience.
The restaurant was very busy according to the rushed & apologetic staff that seated us, gave us menu's & asked to take our drinks order, we asked for 2 minutes.. 20 minutes later we had to get someone's attention to take our drinks order & food order. Drinks wise I seemed to have ordered the last Peroni in the house without realising it, strange but these things happen..
Again we were told that they were busy, yet there was a empty table next to us.. still there was a lot of noise from other tables making us struggle to have a conversation. Some 45 minutes later our starters arrived. As sometimes happens my wife & I both ordered the same dishes- The homemade pork & corizo scotch egg with mustard mayo & spiced red pepper dressing, when they arrived the 2 dishes were far from identical, my wife's lacked some presentation. That said they were tasty.
For mains we'd ordered pork belly, which rather than the usual pave (square) look came rolled, this is the first time we'd seen it done this way, taste wise it was ok but nothing special.Jersey has some excellent restaurants with the standards been very high, after our 1st visit we feel The Bass & Lobster still has a lot of work to do.

Stayed a couple of nights here with the family who had some other rooms. The rooms were immaculate and looked newly furnished if a little on the small size. Furnished with everything you need including robes and slippers!

Very Art Deco decoration throughout. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful couldn't do enough for you. Lots of little touches around the hotel like juice and towels around the pool, jars of sweets, towels and water bottles by the door for walkers or runners - very nice!

Nice bar if a little on the expensive side. Watch out for the brandy my parents were a bit shocked as they had had had 4 brandys for £60. Limited parking - all street parking you have to ensure you park down the street in the 10 hour parking but the staff are very good at running around trying to find you a parking spot which is brilliant at any time.
