Absolutely fabulous. Room service, staff, food, location - everything was so good. I would recommend this hotel definately.
Portuguese girl (sorry, forgot her name) at the hotel's bar - she is a magician.

The Duke of Richmond is how hotels should be - the attention to detail throughout and the helpful and friendly attitude of all staff members was faultless.

I spent three nights at the DOR while visiting Guernsey to run the ultramarathon around the island. I couldn't have asked for a more comfortable base. But it is the staff who really set this hotel apart from all others. (It was a very nice touch to be given a good luck card and cake the day before the race, and greeted with a complimentary big cold drink on my return.)

While most hotels surely ask their staff to treat guests with politeness and to be helpful, at the DOR it does not feel forced or unnatural as it does at many others. The staff here are extraordinary and a credit to the hotel, and the service far exceed some 5* hotels I have stayed at.

My room was very comfortable - the bed was huge and relaxing; the bathroom was clean and in good order (not like some shabby bathrooms I've seen!), and I really liked the decor. Yes, it was completely over the top - but that's the fun! Why would you want to go to a hotel that looks like your home?!

Breakfast was delicious. The first morning, I went and had breakfast in the restaurant - a good choice of continental offerings, all fresh, all tasty (cooked was an option). I had breakfast in my room for the other two mornings, and there were no stingy portions like you sometimes have with a tray breakfast. I also ate at the hotel every evening for convenience (unimaginative of me, I appreciate), and the food was excellent each time.

The hotel is a short 10 minute walk down to the port, and is right next to the pretty Candie Gardens and Guernsey Museum. Yes, it is a bit of a steep hill walk back to the hotel, but it's a very pleasant stroll. There is lots to see and do in St Peter Port, and I was very pleasantly surprised by Castle Cornet, which I really recommend (for the views from the top if nothing else).

I will definitely be returning to the Duke of Richmond and have already recommended it to several friends. The staff are a credit to the management. It is impossible to single out any individual member of staff, as they are all faultless.Thank you for a wonderful weekend.

We spent 10 nights at the Duke of Richmond as a special treat to celebrate a big birthday. Our room, a classic double, was pleasant with views of Cambridge Park. We ate dinner in the restaurant several times and it was delicious, as was the afternoon tea (the savoury macaron was a thing of wonder) and the bar snacks were also very good. The breakfast menu is excellent and we tried almost everything on it (I recommend the waffles). We also tried several of the cocktails on offer in the Leopard Bar. The staff on the food and beveridges team were all cheerful and efficient.

Indeed, by far the best thing about this hotel is the staff. We were there long enough that some of them got to know us by name and most of them are happy to chat to the guests. There was also a little surprise for my birthday, which was a lovely touch. Everyone on the staff is warm and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The service is impeccable, which is exactly what you pay for at a 4 star hotel. The lovely people who work at the DOR really did make our holiday.

Generally speaking very nice, helpful, friendly staff, except for one receptionist who seemed to take pleasure telling us we could not have a later check-out. It would have been a nice gesture had she agreed because, as explained, our ferry left late afternoon, so a 1 or 2 hour later checkout would have been very helpful and still given the hotel plenty of time to clean it ready for their next guests. That experience spoiled it a bit for us.

Again, generally the food was okay, apart from one very dried up breakfast. The room was lovely with a top floor view of the harbor and sea, impeded a bit by an overgrown tree. Any room lower, say floor 3, 2 or 1 would probably not have had a decent view.

The WIFI was very weak and occasionally dropped out. Room service was questionable; when we called room service for more coffee sachets, we were told they had ran out. However, when I asked the person to go out and purchase some more coffee, miraculously more sachets appeared. Funny that.

Hotel parking is very limited. The hotel has just 6-7 spaces. For 30 plus rooms, that's not much. And finding spaces on the street can be challenging and restrictive.

Overall, it was a lovely place, nice people and nice location. Food about average.

Just returned from this first class hotel,we enjoyed a 3 day trip for our first time in Guernsey. .if your are undecided about where your are going to stay make sure this establishment it's right at the top of your list ,i believe it will be difficult to top! Reception staff and restaurant staff are all too notch, special mention for Orlando who is quite a character! But lovely with it! We stayed in a wonderful suite room which provided everything we needed, one small gripe was we found it quite cluttered..maybe a personal thing definately not a criticism! We will return in the future without hesitation. .but will make our own way by taxi! I'm no penny pincher but believe a taxi transfer should be a service the hotel can arrange for its customers without such huge discrepancies in cost..hotel charged £19..true cost on return journey was £12..didn't spoil anything for us but maybe something the hotel can look into?? 10/10 xx

We had the absolute pleasure of spending 8 nights here to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary. Everything about this hotel is amazing - the welcome; the rooms; the food; the cocktails and wine; the service and ALL of the staff. We were made to feel so special and everyone knew us by name.

It was just the most luxurious experience and we chose it as we have stayed at another Red Carnation Hotel and the organisation's motto of "no request is too large; not detail too small" is exactly what is delivered.

Breakfast is amazing as are the evening meals - varied menus cooked with skill and with very high quality produce and very good value. The wine list is also comprehensive and the Provence rose is particularly good.

What was really special were the individual luxury touches and the personal surprises the hotel staff arranged for our wedding anniversary. They were completely unexpected and are memories we will treasure forever. WE WILL BE BACK. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH. IF WE COULD NAME YOU ALL WE WOULD!

On a business trip to Guernsey this hotel was recommended by the client, and I'm glad I took them up on the information! Beautiful entrance foyer, warm and helpful staff, well decorated and exceptionally comfortable. Plenty of wall sockets and good wi-fi speed made a nice change. I did have an issue with the TV in my room stopping working, and the staff couldn't fix it. They offered me another room to move to or another room to just watch TV in. As it was my last night I wasn't too worried but instead they offered a complimentary drink from the bar - just the ticket! Great service all round. Breakfast was quickly served and very well cooked, the tea was lovely and plentiful.

If I have any slight negatives about the hotel it would be that if you struggle with movement, the amount of stairs may prove troublesome, and the restaurant is quite expensive. The food was absolutely gorgeous, but you do pay for the privilege. The town centre is but a few minutes walk away, but everything seems to close around 5pm, and the walk back is all up hill so you may get some unexpected exercise. There's also a nice little park opposite the hotel for some fresh air. Enjoy!

This is a really fabulous hotel - luxurious yet relaxed. Our Room was superb - a twin suite beautifully decorated and with a wonderful view. The public rooms were also fantastic - comfortable and quirky yet with stylish decor. On the last of our 3 nights, my friend became very unwell and the staff were absolutely wonderful - so helpful and caring. The only negative is that it is a bit of a walk into the town centre, but this is more than made up for with it's great outdoor area (including a pool) and the wonderful view.
