We have stayed at the Duke of Richmond Hotel in St. Peter Port for many years and have always found the standard to be extremely high. The rooms are beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. The bathrooms are very up-to-date and well supplied. There is a choice between a bath and a shower and are extremely clean. The hotel is always well maintained and well re-furbished. The food is EXCELLENT and room service is of a very high standard. We always like to eat in the Cambridge Bar and the fillet steak is the very best we have tasted anywhere! The staff cannot do enough to help you and are very courteous and friendly. Some of the staff have been at this hotel for many years and greet you as they always remember you. We cannot praise this hotel highly enough and would recommend it to everyone.

When searching for a restaurant to sample some quality seafood, this restaurant came up. As it was liberation day (9th May) and the last evening of our mini break, we booked a table at the Bass & Lobster. On arrival we received a very warm welcome by Anna who showed us to our table. The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere and the tables were well spaced. Dill flavoured bread arrived whilst we perused the menu. The crab to start was amazing, as were the Tempura prawns and squid. But the Scallops were simply divine. Bread and Butter pudding with Apricot ice cream to finish is a must! A great restaurant with a great team. Thank You, we will be back. Recommended by a local shopkeeper, in Goray, so we thought we would give it a go.
We arrived early with no reservation to see if they had a free table. We were greeted by Anna who gave us a very warm welcome it quickly became clear to us that the food here is extraordinary. The wonderful flavours and attention to detail are an absolute delight, produced and presented by people with a passion for what they do.There is no pretension here, these people are genuinely nice and work very hard to give the best experience to every customer. We were so impressed that we returned for the remaining two nights of our holiday. Many thanks to Anna and Gatis and the three brilliant chefs. We would not hesitate to recommend.

Personally I did not like the modern style of this open bar/restaurant but it was busy so the ambience was buzzy, and somewhat raucous with a large group of somewhat inebriated lady golfers. The service was friendly, the menu covered all bases (pity that they ran out of the brill main) and the wine list reasonable. The food was a bit mixed but overall good. I particularly liked my whitebait starter, very different from the normal. This is almost a good restaurant and certainly one of the better ones in Gorey (see my review of Sumas).

Having read excellent reviews on TA decided to try the 3 course Ā£15 lunch for ourselves. Fabulous. All beautifully presented and delicious. Just for the record we both had the beetroot, feta and quinoa salad, catch of the day with samphire, salsa and Jersey royal salad, then bread and butter pudding with apricot ice cream. To include the divine homemade bread was an added bonus. Fortunately we live nearby so this will become a regular haunt. Why can't more restaurants be like this? They deserve to be mobbed every day!

A very buy restaurant which usually means that the food should be good but not always..
Starters were ok with the exception of the Foie Gras which had the life cooked out of it never had rubbery Foie Gras before...Main courses were again just ok but with the exception of the Turbot which was so small and on top of cold mash potatoes not up to much..Expensive for what was a medicore meal.

We called on the off chance after visiting Mont Orgueil and wished weā€™d found this fabulous place before our last day on hols. We opted for the Ā£15 3 course lunch special and couldnā€™t believe the choices. Expecting small portions for that price we couldnā€™t have been more wrong. Each course was beautifully presented and delicious and full size. The fish and chips were particularly good and the home made ice cream was outstanding. The service was attentive and courteous. We couldnā€™t recommend this place more highly.

On a trip to Jersey we were pointed in the direction of this wonderful culinary experience.
We ate from the set menu with an open mind as to the quality of the food. We order ed, whilst waiting for our starters the home made bread arrived with two different types of local butter. Mouth watering would not describe what a delight this was light in texture very tasty on the palette.
Our starters arrived Fish Cake pour moi and Lobster & Crap Bisque for my girlfriend. Quality quality quality. Mains arrived Sea Bass On Jersey Royal Salad. I had locally sourced Cod with Hand Cooked Chips Tartar Sauce and Pea Puree. WOW.
Starting to feel very very full we shared the Brioche Bread and Butter Pudding expecting it to be a little heavy it was surprisingly light tasty and complimented our meal.
This venue has a great atmosphere very very attentive and knowledgable staff who praise the local ingredients used in their food. Some of which came from the restaurants garden.
We have one day left of our trip and will be returning for lunch which is even better value than the evening meal we had.
This is a must visit and for quality and value for money unbeatable.

Sadly I was disappointed after hearing good reviews. I felt let down by the staff not much customer care. Mix up on the order when it came out. Food was good quality but the fish and chips lacked fish more batter than fish. No complaints about the quality of the food. I felt we were given choosing off a set menu as there was ten of us and they had already had a busy lunch service. Iā€™m going to give it one more try just two of us to see if they can improve.

Many people I met during a recent business trip raves about this place so it began with high expectations. The food was good but not anything to rave about. My risotto with smoked fish had three bits of fish in what was a fairly ordinary and bland risotto. It wasnā€™t expensive but perhaps the reputation is beyond the actuality.
