We stayed here for 4 nights to celebrate my husbands birthday. The place is lovely, very friendly staff, excellent food and last but not least: The day of the birthday he received a nicely decorated plate and a personally written birthday card...very nice, this personal touch! Thank you Aaron 😉

we spent five nights here last week and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Our room with a sea view was lovely, the staff were marvellous and we really enjoyed the food. The hotel only has a few parking spaces but it was easy enough to find somewhere to park near to the hotel. There is a downhill walk into St Peter Port so perhaps that wouldn't suit everyone. All in all a great few days.

This is a first class hotel, a gem and honestly recommended for first class accommodation. Led by a staff who's care and attention to detail ensure a comfort led stay. Excellent only begins to describe this lovely lovely place.
Rooms well appointed, very quite, and comfortable. Resteraunt well appointed and an interesting choice of menu. Intriguing desserts with classic options for those less adventurous. This hotel is simply faultless

The Duke of Richmond is a beautiful and exceptionally clean hotel but what makes this hotel so good is the staff ! I have just returned from 2 nights there with a friend with a disability and I can not price the staff enough nothing is too much trouble, The room was large and had all the amenities you could want and there are extra little touches like free mineral water, wifi in all the rooms. The rooms are well sound proofed and the restaurant food is lovely and good value. There is a great out door pool where you can sit and enjoy the surrounding with a free glass of ice tea. I can not praise this hotel enough

The Hotel did take a while to find so if you're hiring a car study your route from the airport before hand and also check out the parking regulations around the hotel as it only has 5 parking bays. The hotel it's self is loverley, clean start and welcoming the staff very nice and friendly, breakfast was as expected very good quality, varied and plentiful. Would not hesitate to stay with them again.

Stayed here for 3 nights on the Secret Escapes offer and it was fabulous. We had a king size room tucked away from the rest of the rooms (106) and it was lovely - had a super king size bed, large sofa and comfy chair and a large bay window. No sea view (unless you stood on the sofa!) but that wasn't an issue. It was also handy to nip out of the hotel as we were right near an exit via the outdoor pool and garden.

The whole hotel is immaculate and is really nicely decorated - lots of areas to sit down and chill out and a lovely bar tucked away at the side of the restaurant where they know how to mix a good mojito!

EVERY single staff member is polite, charming and helpful. I have never found that in a hotel before. They cannot do enough for you. It really makes for a lovely stay.

We had dinner in one evening and it was fabulous - top quality food. Breakfast and afternoon tea are also very good too.

The gym, spa and treatments are all good too - very well kitted out gym, two Jacuzzis a steam and sauna area and I had a lovely facial.

Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel - we shall definitely return.

We spent a long weekend at this lovely hotel over Easter.

I booked via booking.com for a Queen Room at a price of £562 for 3 nights incl breakfast, I choose this hotel as it had good reviews and a spa if the weather decided to turn ugly and it seemed like a quiet, grown up sort of place.

The hotel is about 15 mins from the airport (we pre booked and paid for a taxi for both trips via Island Taxis)

Our check in was very 5* with an offer of sherry, always welcome even after a short journey, and the concierge taking us on a quick tour of the main areas so we could find our way around - it is quite a large place, so some orientation is a good idea, to make sure you can find the bar and the spa!

We were shown to room 103 and had unpacked when I discovered a minor oversight in house keeping which I reported to reception and this was immediately rectified and we were offered an upgrade to room 220 which we took.

The new room was very spacious with two windows looking out on the Marina and Castle Cornet then across the sea and Herm and Sark. Both windows have window seats underneath (nice for your early morning tea) and there were a further two easy chairs and a table.

Plenty of tea, coffee, hot chocolate were available plus coffee / tea pots. Chocolates and cookies also appeared and we had a lovely Easter egg arrive which they make at the hotel.

The towels are large fluffy affairs and the bathroom was stocked with L'Occitane products which are high end and smell gorgeous.

Robes and slippers are provided, I love a robe in a room, feels like home.

So all in all, a very nice room with a super comfy bed - happy days!

We had breakfast each morning - there is a Continental selection but we had a cooked breakfast each time. The menu was extensive but I was quite predictable and had the smoked haddock with a poached egg each time. My husband had the Irish Benedict (Corned Beef) twice and a full English - all the food was top notch and you could have extra toast and tea.

We also ate in the Brasserie on the Sunday night and the food was very good - we had steaks.

They make lovely cocktails and have a wide selection of drinks in the Crown Bar.

We spent an hour or so in the spa enjoying the hot tubs etc..

The hotel is ideally located a short walk from town centre, 6-7 mins from the shops though it is steep uphill walk back and you are also very close to the Marina, 10-15 mins depending which way you walk.

So, lastly the thing which always makes an experience go from very good to excellent - the staff. They are all very professional in my experience but also really nice at the same time and only to happy to spend some time talking to guests and making sure that you are having the best time possible, I really felt that nothing was too much trouble and if they could improve anything for you they would.

Thank you OGH!

The staff gave impeccable service, always with a smile. The room was more than adequately furnished and the upgrade to a room with a view of the harbour( it was an anniversary) made our 3 day break an absolute pleasure. The breakfasts were very 'more ish'. We look forward to returning.

My fiancé surprised me for my 30th birthday with a four night stay in this stunning hotel. From the moment we entered the hotel all the staff were so welcoming and friendly. Always greeting us with a good morning or a good night...the food was exquisite in the curry room. I highly recommend it. Our room was simply divine, cleanliness was excellent fresh clean sheets, wash room was beautiful from the toiletries to the white fluffy robe and slippers. I cannot find any flaws at all. Breakfast was so lovely, staff always catering for everyone's dietary requirements . Made my fiancé and I feel like royalty. We got to have a spa day too that was a right treat for us both . Jacuzzi was Lush... Thank you old government hotel for making our stay very memorable .we will definitely be back.

Both of my stays at the OGH have been top of the line. The most recent one was last week, for three nights. Not only were the room and food excellent (had dinner one night at the Curry Room), but the staff went above and beyond.

Upon leaving the hotel, I arrived at the airport and realized that I had left my Kindle in my room. I called the front desk, who immediately sent someone up to the room to locate my Kindle. They then sent someone out all the way to the airport in the hotel car to personally deliver my Kindle back to me in advance of my flight. Their efforts won't be forgotten, and I look forward to staying at the OGH again the next time I'm in Guernsey.
