We stayed at the Duke of Richmond for 10 days in June, a few people said that we would struggle to find things to do for the 10 days in Guernsey but that couldn't be further from the truth, I guess we were lucky as the weather was very hot for nearly all the time we were there. The hotel decor I'm sure is a matter of taste but we really liked it, more a colonial look in our eyes. It's the people that make this hotel special as they are not only really well trained in customer care but are genuinely lovely people who go out of their way to make your stay special. I'm going to mention names as they really did make our holiday special, there are more but shifts change and these were the people that we saw the most. Orlando, Olga, Roxana, Ben, Gustaves, Francis, Shirley, Natalie and Paul, thank you for looking after us. Food at the hotel was excellent, comprehensive quality breakfast and evening meals. There are plenty of restaurants and bars in the area so eating isn't an issue!
Guernsey was a lovely island, we took the ferry from Poole so had the car with us, we only used it a few times but driving was very relaxed. Must do's include a ferry to Sark (50 minutes) and Herm (20 minutes) both magical islands with no cars, desert island beaches and stunning wildlife.

We have just stayed for a long weekend at The Duke Of Richmond Hotel to celebrate my mother-in-law's 80th birthday and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The rooms we had were super, overlooking St.Peter Port and the sea they were a good size, the bed comfortable and cosy with a choice given of type of pillows, we had feather and they were lovely and soft. The rooms also had air conditioning which was nice to have to keep the room cooler at night and were very clean and well catered for with toiletries. We ate in the hotel the first night and were so impressed with the staff and excellent food that we ate there again, you don't often get food in a hotel as good as a stand alone restaurant but this hotel we felt was an exception. Your every need was quickly catered for by the lovely friendly staff especially Olga and Gustav that made this stay a special and memorable one for all of us. Also would like to mention the live music on Friday night, the two lads just played their guitars, a mix of tunes and just the right level of sound so as to be heard but not intrusive, I really enjoyed listening to them, again it made a memorable evening. We will most definitely stay there again when we return to Guernsey.

The Duke of Richmond Hotel was chosen to celebrate a 80th birthday and we were not disappointed. We were upgraded to sea view rooms without asking and all these rooms are furnished to a high standard, clean and tidy and serviced daily. The staff are all professional and friendly and the food in the restaurant of a high quality. Nothing is left to chance and everything catered for, even down to a birthday card from the staff and a fruit platter in the room on our return from dinner. The hotel is not far from the port about 10 minutes although downhill. There are plenty of restaurant's and bars and things to see and do. Having a car is a bonus and this allows you to visit the island. I shall definitely return to Guernsey and The Duke of Richmond will be my first choice.

Stayed for 4 nights recently for a special anniversary. What a treat. Although our room was a little dated and would benefit from redecoration and modernising, it was spotlessly clean, the bed was so comfortable and pillows were wonderful. The linen was superb quality as were the towels. The public areas have been refurbished to a very high standard and the terrace was a lovely setting for a delicious afternoon tea and cocktails. Breakfast was superb, the choice was amazing, everything freshly cooked to order. But the real jewel in the crown of this hotel is the staff and service. Truly delightful, helpful, friendly and obviously take pride in their work. Very memorable break, would be delighted to return.

We booked a 3 night stay for myself, husband, mother and Aunty. From start to finish this hotel provided us with excellent service. On making the reservation I had a few special requirements, as we were travelling with elderly relatives. The lady on reservations was most helpful and advised me on booking the two junior suites as one of these had a walk in shower. On arrival at the hotel we received a warm welcome and whilst our room wasn't ready, as we arrived late morning we were taken care of and made to feel very comfortable. Our rooms were both beautiful, with a fabulous outdoor terrace to both rooms. The outdoor furniture was nice, but the round sofa on one of the terraces was mouldy and should have been removed really. Nice large bottles of complimentary water, tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge. The beds were very comfortable with large fluffy duvets. The only slight criticism is the toiletries which were quite basic. L'occitaine or a more upmarket brand would have been nicer. The towels were plentiful and again white fluffy and excellent quality. The dining area on the terrace was excellent. It was very pleasant being able to have lunch or afternoon tea in the sunshine. The pool was rather tricky to get to, but very nice and quiet and we did make use of it whilst we were there.
The food in the restaurant was excellent. I felt it was very reasonably priced and the quality again first class. The afternoon tea was again very good value for money and excellent.
I would definitely recommend this wonderful hotel. It is a good 4 star but offers, in my opinion 5 star service. The hotel is located about 10 minutes walk up hill from the centre of St Peters which is not an easy walk for elderly people or those with walking difficulties, however one can always get a taxi back, which the hotel will book for you.
The staff at the hotel really did make this hotel special. Friendly, helpful and always ready to go that extra mile. The rooms service, restaurant staff and front of house, all brilliant. Marta and the team on reception were a delight.
So to summarise....If you are planning on a trip to Guernsey and want to stay in a nice quality, friendly hotel, with great food and excellent service, this is the hotel for you.
Thanks again for a fabulous stay!

My daughter and I had the pleasure of staying in the DoRH between 14 and 20 July 2017 in Rm 508 and we enjoyed it very much. The hotel is a bit up the hill in St Peter Port and normally it costs about £6 to take a taxi from the waterfront/ferry port to the hotel if walking is not your thing. The hotel rooms are nice, clean and air conditioned. The staff, particularly Aaron on the front desk, was always very helpful. For instance, I had arranged to have a fan in our room and they went out and purchased one based on my request. We paid for the breakfast option with the room rate and were not disappointed. The breakfast was excellent and you could eat all you want. No hot tub, sauna or gym facilities, which is a negative and I think they must address in any future modernisation. The cost was rather expensive for similar rooms on the UK mainland, but I found that the entire trip to Guernsey was far more expensive than expected since everything costs more there - at least that is the way it seemed to us (e.g. restaurant food, entrance to museums, etc.). Nevertheless, bottom line, fully recommend the DoRH.

Stayed for 2 nights. All staff very friendly and helpful. Afternoon tea is a must! We were there for over 2 hours enjoying all the goodies-staff very attentive but at no point did we feel hurried. Great breakfast too. Room was amazing and the view from the terrace to Herm....addictive.

This hotel is a 10 minute walk from town (uphill unfortunately) but if you are moderately fit it is a lovely walk into town. it is situated in a quiet residential area across the road from a lovely park and school. Rooms are comfortable and they have an excellent dining room with well trained friendly staff. Would definitely stay again. Guernsey is a great place to visit loads of restaurants, quaint shops, beautiful walks and lots of interesting history.

When we need to stay 'in town', this is our hotel of choice. The standard rooms are well appointed and bathrooms of decent size and always scrupulously clean. We know we can relax and feel at home.

All the staff are attentive; The reception staff always acknowledge us on arrival, even though they may be attending to other guests at the time.

We enjoy a drink at the bar before dinner in the Leopard restaurant. There's a large choice of wine by the glass. My favourite is New Zealand Pinot Gris and it was a bonus for me to be informed, 'yes, we do have it'. Up to now, every evening meal we have had has been a delight. Service is good with just the right amount of time between courses.

I would recommend the DoR as a pleasant and convenient hotel to stay when visiting St Peter Port. Just far enough out of town to be quiet at night, but close enough to stroll to the shops and seafront

We stayed at this hotel in July for three nights. It has a great dinning room with views of the kitchen which is very modern, The room was spacious and clean. The hotel has a nice veranda where you can enjoy breakfast or a drink and there is a nice pool. It is located above St Peter Port which is a nice village and port.
