Nicki’s help in finding our dream family holiday was invaluable. She researched everything for us and provided us with so many options. She was so incredibly patient. Once we’d made our decision, she filled us with confidence in finalising all the smaller details and making our holiday truly perfect!

During our very recent stay in Gorey we ate out twice for dinner; we definitely chose the right places! As with my other review - first thing to note is DO book in advance. These places are popular for a reason and we're not talking tourists....
Great dining area - well two areas really, so you can keep an atmosphere going regardless of size of party, what time of night etc. Fab and engaging front of house. Excellent choice of drinks from apero's through wines, to digestifs.
The menu is especially interesting and trying - and succeeding - to be a bit different. The spicy southern fried oysters are outrageously edible. The table next to us had a plateful and ordered more. I had the oysters (you can buy individually) as a pre-starter, even though you get a free pre-starter anyway, so that was two tapas basically before we even got started! Both the crab and the pork & stilton croquettes starters were superb - loads going on, yet still light. They are also flexible with the menu - I had a scallops starter turned into a mains-sized portion (6 scallops instead of 3). The duck was also superb. Mad and crazy selection of home-made sorbets (sweet and savoury) that feature on various dishes, and/or as a dessert option.
VFM for the quality is excellent. Perspective: there are plenty of pubs on Jersey offering good quality food (though I am generally of the "pubs for beer and resto's for eating" mindset) but resto's like the Bass and Lobster are in a different league, quality wise. But... they are barely any more expensive (if at all) than their pub counterparts.

Visited Jersey therefore I had to visit the fabulous Bass & Lobster. Food was exquisite and the service was impeccable. Kirsty at the front of house is excellent and so friendly.
Had the pan-fried Bass and Lobster which was amazing and worth every penny. The unusual Ice creams are a great talking point and delicious - be brave and try one the are great.

We wanted a special place to celebrate a significant birthday, and, on the whole the DOR rewarded us with a good decision. The staff were excellent throughout and seemed to be a good working team. I was a bit concerned about the food, from previous guests' reviews, but the breakfast was tasty and very well presented. The dinner was very good, but I found the wine list a little uninspiring. Our room was comfortable and quirky, but I was left with the feeling that it didn't quite deliver the level of luxury which the price suggested.

Can't speak highly enough. What a treat. A menu with lots of surprises and everything beautifully cooked and presented. Great team serving as well.

Have just spent four nights in this charming hotel where we received the warmest possible welcome from the whole team. Every morning started with a delicious cooked breakfast in the conservatory or on the terrace before exploring beautiful Guernsey, returning to a spotless room with a great view of the shipping in the harbour. On our final evening taxi driver Gareth took us to the airport for our 6pm flight to Gatwick. Shortly after takeoff the plane was struck by lightning and had to turn back. After an anxious two hours wait the plane was declared unfit. Sadly the airline, Aurigny, after re-booking flights for the following day, declined to offer any help or advice with emergency transport and accommodation. In desperation we rang Gareth. Despite being off duty he offered, without hesitation, to abandon his dinner and rescue us from the airport, as there were no taxis or buses. He also called the hotel to confirm there was a room available. Back at the hotel Nelly greeted us like old friends and much valued guests. Gareth meanwhile returned to the airport to help other stranded passengers. At 530am he picked us up for our early morning flight. We simply can't commend Gareth and the hotel team enough. It's disappointing their support was not matched by Aurigny.

Went for lunch today for the first time and we were blown away; the food was outstanding! Apologies for the noises coming from our table, lots of 'ooh's' and 'mmm's'. 😅
Lovely, relaxed atmosphere, not pretentious at all and the people who served us were fabulous. Cannot wait to go back.

We came across this hidden gem on a day trip to Gorey and popped in for lunch time snack. We ended up with the 3 courses for £26 . I had Caesar salad and the waitress said that the dressing would be the best we’d ever had. She didn’t lie! We had fish and chips and the fish that day was Pollock, the batter was light and golden, the chips were freshly cooked with a dusting of paprika. The home made tartar sauce was amazing. I topped off with a crème brulee which came with a light shortbread biscuit and a beautiful raspberry sorbet.
The owner of the place runs it with her husband who is the chef. They are both obviously passionate about what they do and it showed in the quality of the food they served. They said they get most of their trade from locals and some recommendations. When we were there, it was very quiet so if you are visiting the area, pop along to this gem. If you are not visiting the area, make the effort to go, you will not be disappointed.
