Whenever I am on a businees trip in Guernsey I stay at The Duke of Richmond because it meets all my needs: high quality standards, cleanliness, efficient and friendly staff at all times, quietness and excellent location (you can walk to town through Candy gardens, see Victor Hugo's statue and have a wonderful view on the beautiful islands of Herm and Sark!)
The restaurant serves real 'haute cuisine' (the food is always wonderful !!) and the bar is worth a visit!

Visiting Guernsey for the first time from Iceland, the Duke of Richmond made our stay simply lovely. Upon arrival our room was spontaneously upgraded. The service was impecable and all the staff very warm and welcoming and always ready to be of assistance. We found the room very pleasant and clean with a nice view. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was excelent and the breakfast good. The location is also very good. So all in all... all you could wish for in a hotel :)

My husband and I have just returned from a brilliant long weekend stay at the Duke of Richmond Hotel.
We are very pleased indeed to 'spread the word' about this hotel. Their staff are always friendly, helpful and efficient providing an extensive range of food cooked to perfection and beautifully presented; an extremely high level of cleanliness throughout; together with a quality service worthy of Trip Advisor's highest rating.

When I state at the duke of Richmond I was welcomed by the reception staff, taken care of and showed where my room was. All of the staff are very friendly and they can help with most things, even helping you get somewhere in guernsey. The quality of the rooms were excellent, very clean, tidy and comfortable.

I had an excellent stay here last week. I had a recently renovated room and whilst small (it was a standard room) it was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Small touches such as the chocolate on the bed and slippers left at nighttime were really lovely. The main hotel area was also beautifully decorated, 1920s Parisian chic in style. The breakfast was delicious, very fresh and lots of it and the staff were very welcoming and accomodating. All in all, I would wholeheartedly recommend and will hopefully return in future. The picture of the front of the hotel is rather misleading as it looks bigger and more anonymous than it is inside. The more recent pictures of th renovations are accurate.

I have eaten here on a number of occasions, but for business and pleasure. What can I say? The service is good, but when you are eating they come at you like flies (they could learn quite a bit from the OGH, much more understated), the french manager (used to work for Mora) is very good, the other lady (no clue on the name, long straight brown hair with big highlights) in a suit not very friendly, the other staff not bad. The chicken (they call it "to die for" on the menu, ummm) is not very good, very bland, and the chicken from Waitrose down the road is better (Actually I don't know a single person who has been there who disagrees with me on the chicken, why call it to die for??? Really??). They really should be shot over their butternut squash ravioli, the pasta is sooo thick!! the chef should be fired just because of that, it is the worst butternut squash ravioli I have ever tasted. The food is OK, I think one expects OGH quality food (as we are charged OGH food prices), but the food just isn't as good.

We have stayed in Guernsey many times the purpose of our visit is to see an aunt who lives in St Peter Port - we have never stayed at The Duke of Richmond. After making our booking we read with interest all the positive comments of other reviews and were really looking forward to our stay we were definitely not disappointed this hotel exceeded expectations thats why we are at a loss to now read a previous comment "Leopards Bar" as it certainly does not portray the hotel management and staff in the right image.
We stayed for 6 nights our room was a standard one small but very comfortable both bedroom and bathroom were very clean we appreciated houskeeping returning in the evening to turn down the bed clean the bathroom leave us fresh towels and the occasional chocolate on our pillow ( so many nice touches throughout our stay).
We new the hotel had been refurbishment and it really looks good but for us the staff made our stay memorable everyone we came into contact with was so pleasant and polite always smiled and were always helpful nothing at all was any trouble. Dining in the restaurant was a lovely experience both for breakfast (so much choice and beautifully cooked) and dinner the food was excellent and very well presented. The staff new their product and in the bar had a good knowledge of the drinks available.
We are already looking forward to our next visit to Guernsey and our second stay at The Duke of Richmond. Thank you for looking after us so well.

Have stayed here twice now since it has been refurbished and I have to say the hotel is lovely.
Staff are excellent and very friendly but can be a bit eager at times. This is no bad thing, as I'd prefer staff to acknowledge rather than ignore!
Rooms are bright, spacious and enjoy all the mod cons and a whole lot more. The chocolates at night time are a nice touch.
The food is excellent in the Leopard bar, especially the Rotisserie chicken.

The Duke of Richmond just got a well deserved 8.3/10 review in the Times. I stayed for a couple of days this week and whilst I can't comment on the refurbishment having not seen it before the makeover, I can comment on the service...which was excellent from the front desk, bar and restaurant. They couldn't do enough to help. Good job!

While in Guernsey for business I had the pleasure of staying at the Duke of Richmond for an extended period of time. I enjoyed the experience immensely and could not have been more pleased with the accommodations. The room was very well kept, comfortable and always clean upon my return from work. The front desk staff were always very pleasant and accommodating for any needs from booking a taxi to recommending dining options. The restaurant onsite was a very enjoyable experience that I took advantage of on several occasions during my stay. It is beautifully situated on the hilltop overlooking Cambridge Park steps away from Candie Gardens and the beautiful museum there rich with the history of Guernsey. Look no further than the Duke of Richmond for your stay in Guernsey. It is top notch!
