We have just arrived home following a 7day break at this wonderful hotel. This was our second visit having spent a few days here last year. We chose this hotel again because we enjoyed it so much on our previous visit and we were not disappointed.
The new decor is lovely and our room with it!s balcony overlooking the harbour was beautiful. The staff at this hotel are superb, very professional and friendly but not intrusive. The breakfast choice is extensive and we also enjoyed a couple of evening meals in the restaurant. Little extras like the Complimentary fresh milk which was left in our room every day and the wonderful bathrobes etc. all added to a perfect holiday.
We hope to visit again someday!

Just returned from overnight stay, what lovely friendly staff they are, everyone of them smiling and always a" hello, can I help you?" Love the way they all wear a red carnation. Rooms and beds comfortable, agree with some comments that bathroom small but not a major problem. St Peterport a short walk down the hill, and would recommend the POW cocktail bar, halfway down/up the hill, great idea. Breakfast was filling and like having coffee pot left on table rather than having to ask for refill. Overall a great hotel and we will be back

I stayed for a short break - all the important things were fine - clean, comfortable, efficient and pleasant staff, excellent breakfast, location.
The decor is not to all tastes - eccentric would be the polite word for it. The breakfast area needs re vamping but the outlook is lovely.
The huge bed was too big for the size of the bedroom, which was well equipped. The furnishings and bedding were lovely and high quality. The bathroom layout was not ideal - the bath taps and shower could not be easily reached from the floor, without bending round the shower screen. Any longer stay and I would have asked to be moved.
Car parking - I don't think there is any mention of this, and I would not have expected it to be a problem in St Peter Port. The few hotel spaces can be reserved. I would re visit given the opportunity

Our family of four (2 toddlers) had a lovely 4 night stay here. The hotel is rated 4* but unlike the optimistic ratings common throughout the UK and Europe I think it's safe to say this hotel is under-rated. It has been recently renovated to a nice standard. While not a true 5* it outperforms any 4* on the continent, to my mind. That said, the service is certainly near 5* (only lacking volume of staff, not quality). The service was thoughtful and friendly, delivered with a smile.

The location of the hotel is absolutely fantastic for families. There's a huge park across the street which has a playground in it (as well as a large indoor swimming pool and waterslides) and a beautiful public garden just behind the property.

It's a short walk to the centre of town. It should be noted that there's a large hill along the way so if you are mobility impaired you'd want to take a taxi but we pushed our youngest in his pushchair, no problem.

We took a Jr. Suite and there was plenty of room for the four of us. The king size bed was very comfortable with nice quality linens. The sofa pulled out to a double bed, accomodating our older child easily. We then popped a cot in the corner and we were all comfortable. A nice bonus was a huge private patio off the room, complete with a large lounger, sun umbrella, table and chairs. It caught lots of nice sun from mid-day on.

A real highlight was the restaurant. After being squeezed in without a reservation on our first night, the food and service were so good we returned every night save the last (and wished we'd gone the last night too). The food was absolutely wonderful. Even the kids chicken or fish goujons were handmade and delicious. Service was impeccable, from the Maitre D' down. The kids were thoroughly entertained by the open kitchen and attentive staff so we all (including those around us) had a wonderful time. Breakfast was equally good. And don't miss the cocktails. They put as much attention into their preparation as the excellent food.

Overall I'd recommend this hotel for anyone travelling to Guernsey. There are other more expensive options but I doubt they'd top this property on the overall value basis. We'd return without question.

This restaurant is nice, very much a fine dining feel but was quieter than I expected and it lacked a bit of atmosphere. Given the name of the restaurant there wasn’t as much seafood on the main menu as I expected but there were seafood specials. The waitresses were efficient but not intrusive. We had oysters to start which were delicious. I opted for scallops and crispy pork belly which was a little disappointing as the pork belly was not remotely crispy although the meat itself was nice. My husband had the fish from the specials board (can’t remember which one) and that was lovely. All in all it was a pleasant meal but would probably try somewhere else next time.

Visited B&L for a celebratory meal - and was not disappointed! I’d visited before when it was a run by the Pottery but it’s certainly gone up a level. Service - excellent; Food - outstanding! We had Thai Salmon & Scallop as starters and Bass/Lobster with dauphinois jersey royals & Monkfish for mains (all from specials board)... amazing, the best ever in 10+ years in Jersey! 👏👏👏. The red thai ice-cream (served as a savoury accompaniment) was the highlight!

WOW !! What a surprise awaited us on our arrival, we knew that the hotel had been purchased by The Red Carnation Group and that they had invested some money in to updating this already nice hotel.

The new reception area, dining room, outside terrace and our Bedroom all just took our breath away, I hate to think how much has been spent, because every where you look, you are surrounded by quality fixtures and fittings.

The staff all look so smart and are so attentive, the hotel management staff are always around and are forever checking to make sure everything is running smoothly and is First Class.

One of the reasons we were staying at this hotel was to attend a wedding reception being held in the fantastic function room downstairs, Once again everything was perfect for the "happy couple" the room looked beautiful, the staff could not have done anymore to make the day so perfect.

The Food was divine and served professionally and on schedule, how the Chef and his team managed to get so many choices ready, all at the same time, amazed everyone.

I would highly recommend anybody getting married on the Island of Guernsey, to seriously consider using "The Duke Of Richmond" because they will definitely make it a really memorable occasion.

We have already booked to visit again.

If only there was something that the hotel could do about the parking, then this really would be paradise.

Sorry I am a bit late writting this review but felt it is a must, my husband and I stayed at the Duke of Richmond 26th July for 3 nights. We had a lovely stay and like all the other reviews could not fault it.
We were greeted by friendly staff at reception, our room overlooked the pool with a small balcony. The bedroom was not huge but very comfortable, nice bed linen and bottled water supplied daily. There is a fridge in the bedroom if you want to keep drinks cool, the only critism I can make is the cheap coffee supplied, if you like good quality coffee take your own!
There was no dressing gowns in the room on our arrival, called housekeeping and 2 fab dressing gowns were promptly delivered to us within minutes.
We had dinner one night, couldn't fault the food or the service, breakfast was also top class exept the poached egg I had one morning, it was over poached.
A nice touch I thought was bottled water left at the front door for the guests.
I wouldn't rate this hotel a 5 star probably the upper end of 4 more like it.
I would definately reccomend this hotel to anyone intending a stay in Guernsey but as other reviews have pointed out, there is a steep climb from the port, great to walk off the excess calories!!
