Jersey has a Tevnerfest programme from 1.10 to 11.11 each year with many restaurants offer set meals at reasonable prices. They are listed in a newspaper style leaflet delivered to all homes in the Island. We look through each year and choose a few with different to usual menus.
We were disappointed that the fish and chips was Coley which is what is normally given to cats. The pork belly was loin and the other items failed in our opinion to match the printed circulated menu. The a la carte was expensive with bass at about £30.
We will not be going back as it has deteriorated since we were last there some time ago.

Things are only going to get tougher for local businesses like this. If you can only go out for 1 meal due to the impending restrictions, make it here! Excellent distancing, friendly welcome, and most of all superb food. Kirstie and the team are top of their game and hubby chef really knows how to cook and present. One small request, please please add pheasant to your menu this winter and I will have to come back!

I stayed in this hotel on my recent trip to the Channel Islands and I must say it is pure luxury. From when we first landed in Guernsey to when we left for Jersey 3 days later. The staff are polite and professional, who go out of their way to make their guests stay as trouble free as possible. The food is excellent, the rooms are quite spacious and the beds are the softest I have ever slept on. I never wanted to get out of bed because they were so comfortable. All in all a fantastic stay and if I ever go back to Guernsey I will check straight back in.

We had an overnight stay at this hotel and can honestly say you couldn't fault it. It has recently been refurbished to a really high standard. The rooms are sumptuous and ultra clean.

Their outside seating is lovely and their outside pool is heated to a comfortable temperature. They provide cool drinks at all times by the pool, towels are constantly replenished and they even provide sun creams if you need them. We were very impressed!

The staff were the best that we've come across in hotels so far. Very friendly and helpful without being constantly in your face. We had the full English breakfast which was excellent and it was a nice quirk that you could see the kitchen behind glass panels.

All in all a very pleasant stay and we will definitely be returning for a longer stay.

The only downside was that St Peter Port is very hilly and the walk back after a meal out was a bit of a killer. Think a taxi may be in order next time.

A special offer tempted us to stay here for 4 nights and have a Junior Suite. This hotel has recently been refurbished and is decorated in the eclectic style which the owner is famous for [I have stayed at other hotels in the US belonging to the Red Carnation group]. It is a 5* hotel yet it is also highly individual and that is why I loved it. The decor in our room was red, black and white with mirrored chest of draws and a red glass chandalier. On the way to breakfast you pass a life size bronze leopard and everywere there are personal touches which make you feel more at home [my husband loved the sweets in big glass jars]. The staff were attentive, pleasant and helpful. The only drawerback [not for us] was the 10 - 15 minute downhill walk into town - which means a steep walk home - but there are lots of taxis if you need them.

Long time visitor to Guernsey and was drawn to this place by a review in the Times follwing its 1930s style revamp.
Can't add much to the reviews below. Had the Alderney Suite which is the silver and red one in the ads which was great fun in its own right. Someone thought I was staying in Vagas!
Great service at Breakfast staff swarm round you like friendly bees, food great.
My only down points were that the fixed evening menu cards didn't entice me in for dinner (expected a daily table d'hote) and parking in the locality is a nightmare. Please buy up a bit of Cambridge park! Houskeeping also kept forgetting to replace towels tut tut!
It essentaily has all the ingredients of OGH but slightly more out of town and a little cheaper.

This hotel runs like clockwork, everything is where it should be at the correct time. The attention to detail cannot be faulted, the staff are incredible and they certainly know how to treat their guests very well. We stayed for 3 nights whilst on business locally and it was an absolute pleasure to stay at this hotel. The restaurant is simply outstanding, there is a relaxed friendly atmosphere but the standards of professionalism never slip - a true credit to the Hotel Manager and his excellent team, I cannot recommend The Duke of Richmond highly enough, the service surpasses hotels I've stayed with charging significantly more, it's excellent value for money. Having been travelling on business for 30+ years it will certainly be my first choice whenever I'm staying in Guernsey.

In almost every respect this was one of the best hotels we have experienced in over 30 years travelling. All one would expect from a 4* hotel with particularly good staff - very friendly and most obliging. In the light of this the well appointed room was a disappointment- one of the smallest doubles and ensuite we have ever stayed in. One wardrobe door only opened a fraction, only just enough room to walk round the bed and it was impossible to stand centrally in front of and use the washbasin without burning ones arm on the heated towel rail. Would recommend the hotel but not the standard classic double room.

We booked to stay at this hotel for four nights in a Junior Suite. We enjoyed the hotel and its amenities. Our room was superb with a lovely terrace. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom luxurious. The hotel staff are friendly and on the whole well trained. What is there not to love? You are asked on the critique to say why you cannot give a score of ten for the hotel.
1 .I am disappointed that in the restaurant at evening dinner a guest sat close to us wearing shorts, a scruffy sweatshirt and slip on shoes with no socks - hardly smart casual. 2. We do not approve of the pet policy. We love animals but would rather see designated bedrooms where pets can be accommodated and the public rooms being off limits. 3. Smoking is a problem in Guernsey which can in no way be described as a smoke free island and chain smoking on an adjacent terrace meant we had to close our patio doors. I have a propensity to asthma and dog hair and cigarette smoke can be an issue for me. We did not allow these matters to affect the enjoyment we had in such a beautiful place but it will affect our decision on whether to return.

I've stayed here before on business and it was good, but coming back with the family wasn't. Parking is very difficult and the various stairs and smallish rooms made it a nightmare with a baby.

If you don't have those handicaps then it's quite a good place to stay in St Peter Port. Decor is great and it's pretty handy for town.
