Venue great, lovely outside area with lots of picnic tables. Food in general is good,BUT, there isn't any chicken on the menu, as a non red meat eater and the quality of the pork is poor and not really wanting fish for Sunday dinner I found the choose rather limited. But everything else is great, and the young girls serving are polite and efficient.

After a 5.5 mile ramble around Hartest and Somerton on a rainy, windy day in October, my colleague and I were looking forward to lunch. We had been allowed to leave our cars in the pub car park beforehand which was a great help.
On entering the Crown, the first thing I noticed was a roaring fire and a cosy lounging area to the left and then the bar immediately in front of us. This is a very welcoming pub and the layout and decor is excellent. It was not particularly busy during our visit, but I can easily imagine it would be a very popular venue in the evening. The lunch menu is not extensive but nevertheless provides a good variety and I found a number of dishes to my liking. I settled for liver and bacon which was excellent, while my colleague had the steak burger which he enjoyed greatly. Sadly, we both felt too full to indulge in what looked to be some very attractive puddings and settled for a coffee instead.
I have to say the staff were very helpful and attentive and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I feel another ramble coming on, and next time I shall leave room for one of those puddings. I have eaten at a number of country pubs in the last few years and the Crown is definitely up there with the best.

Not visited the establishment for some time and was pleasantly surprised with the changes made.
There was a new raised seating area in the main bar area and that was where our table was. The comfortable bench seating was idea with plenty of space.
On arrival drinks were served quickly and efficiently and we were shown to our reserved table.
The service was done with a smile even though were not ready on the first occasion.
The starters were large and tasty and reasonably priced.
The mains of which there was a varied selection, including as it was a Friday that we visited, discount for over 60’s on the fish and chips!!
Our party chose four different meals and they were served in good time and there were no complaints from anyone, indeed there was praise. There was just enough to satisfy and the cost very reasonable.
The desserts were chosen, and although slightly on the expensive side, were well presented and very enjoyable.
A very enjoyable evening in good pleasant surroundings.

Friendly gastropub, with good food, excellent wine list available by the glass as well as bottle and great for meeting and chatting with friends over dinner. Beer selection disappointing especially bearing in mind they have a micro-brewery in BSE

Excellent food again (we went to the One Bull last week) and service was again excellent without being intrusive.
The only warning is to leave plenty of time to find it if you don't know the area.

Really good pub food. Service was really good. Kids welcome with good menus and games for kids. My wife is coeliac and there was a really good gluten free range of foods.

After being recommended, I visited the Crown knowing it was a half decent pub a few years ago that served nice food. Firstly I was amazed at how beautiful the setting was and how fantastic the building looked. I had business lunch planned with guests who had flown in from Europe and the USA. They were blown away with everything about the place. It's decor, the gardens, the setting. It was a lovely sunny day (for a change) and the place looked absolutely stunning. My guests said that I clearly knew where to visitors to the UK to give a good impression - I obviously played along with this!
When we walked inside we were greeted by a couple of extremely friendly staff who showed us to our table. The room was delightfully decorated, light and open.
One of our guests had a very specific requirement and the staff took this all onboard and provided her with the perfect meal. All of the food was stunning and I'm quite disappointed that I haven't visited this place in the last 10 years until now!
I will be returning as regularly as I can (infact I've already booked to take my family at the weekend) and I will also be taking many more clients to the Crown.
I really look forward to the next time I visit; it is a gorgeous place with a really friendly but professional approach to dining. Top marks.

Large family gathering for a birthday celebration. Food was nice and service good. A comfortable and characterful place with nice choice of beers.
