Popped in today , pub was very busy which is always nice to see and the đŸ”„ fires where lit , nice and cosy. The ladies had a glass of wine each and we sat down , nice sandwich’s and soup all round lovely staff served us with a smile . Food was excellent as always will be back . The weather out side was beautiful and the gardens looked wet nice so in the summer a table will be had to enjoy the Suffolk countryside. Thank you 😊

I was visiting the area for work and was recommended to this pub by the B & B owners for an evening meal. A nice friendly pub, with a pleasant ambiance, friendly service, decent choice of food which was very tasty and satisfying. The pub was so good I went back on my second night. I did not have my dogs with me but it was obviously a very dog welcoming pub with a number of locals and exceptionally well behaved pets. I was a little bit disappointed that The Crown is some 80 miles from where I live as would otherwise see it as my perfect local.

Popped over the The Crown to apologise in person for having to cancel a family meal due to a number of our party feeling uneasy about the current coronavirus issue and decided to stay and have a bite to eat. Their Wednesday Pie & a Pint deal was on so went for a steak & onion and a chicken & mushroom. Both were packed with filling and full of flavour. They came with mash, veg and gravy and at ÂŁ12 were excellent value.

We have eaten at the Crown many times previously but this was our first visit since lockdown and we visited as a small family group to celebrate a birthday. The group consisted of adults with young children and we were allocated a large table away from other guests and offered a limited menu, but which provided plenty of suitable options for everyone.
Social distancing measures were carefully maintained by the staff and other guests and there are clear instructions for visitors. Tables were immediately cleaned by the staff as soon as customers lef and the toilets were spotless.
On the evening of our visit the weather wasn't great, but the young children were still able to take advantage of the excellent play area, and there are hand sanitising stations installed right next to the play equipment. We always enjoy our visits to the Crown and the evening of the birthday celebration was no exception. Strongly recommended.

This is a pub with everything going for it. It's a gorgeous building with a large, peaceful beer garden. It's in an idyllic rural village, but near enough to Bury St Edmunds to be accessible. The beer is locally brewed and really good (the brewery own a few local pubs which are all great). Staff were friendly and helpful.
Menus are limited and change weekly, with a choice of really high quality options - these are always updated on their website. Portion sizes are generous, so you won't be left disappointed. Veggie options weren't so inspiring when we were there, but I've no doubt they would have been tasty. You can order individual plates, but two courses were ÂŁ20, or three for ÂŁ25.
Ideal place to go for a date, with friends, or with your grandma.

Wood-fired pizza in the beer garden with the kids. A big winner all round.

Good Covid safety procedures and lovely alfresco food.

We went for a meal on a Monday evening as part of the Eat Out to Help Out scheme.
We were expecting just good pub food but it was actually a set menu with just a few dishes. We both chose a starter and a main and wow - it was delicious. Really high quality restaurant food, they obviously have a brilliant chef.We also had great service and they have done a lot to ensure social distancing and safety.
Highly recommend!

The quality of the food and wine is absolutely outstanding. We knew that we were in for a treat when the flatbread arrived; it was freshly made, with just the right amount of bright green pesto and scattering of micro herbs to take it to the next level. The menu is short but perfectly formed and the same could be said about the wine list; unusual inclusions like a (delicious) Catalan white signalled that we were lucky to be in place where those making the food and wine choices knew their stuff. I am still dreaming about the kedgeree; I am lucky enough to live in London and be surrounded by amazing places to eat but this dish was the best I have ever tasted. Perfectly balanced, with peas to add pops of freshness and the most delightful “ketchup” (I don’t even like the red stuff so this is saying something). Special mention to the staff for their superb service and Jason, the magician in the kitchen.
It’s also an attractive spot in a stunning village.
