Brilliant. We went on the summer evening night event. The zoo, entertainment and staff were so nice. Our toddler went free as he is under 2 and for the both of us it cost £32.40 (we had a discount code so got £3.60 off). It's small and not huge. No queues or rush. We got to relax and enjoy it. Highly recommend it.

Nice place for kids, wouldn't recommend under 2s going to the dinosaur section as they get a little scared but the main animal section is nice. No elephants & giraffes so bear that in mind. Lots of play areas, lots of walking so take that into consideration. Parking is good and free and they have a few shows everyday. Food stalls are available throughout the park. You have to buy tickets online, no options at the entrance.

I brought the kids (5 and 8) here and it was a great day out. They loved the dinosaur area so much they wanted to go round a second time later in the day. There are a few play areas that they loved too. There's not a huge number of animals so I think if you're visiting without kids then expect maybe half a day rather than a full day.Visited on

I've been coming here since I was a tiny child with parents and on school trips. So much has changed in 30 years but I love that there are still some of the original playground equipments, like the Fire Engine Slide and Mother Hubbard's Shoe. Very nostalgic!
Paradise has always been what I would call a 'nicer zoo'. It's a conservation zoo and the animals don't seem miserable like they often do in captivity. Some of the enclosures, eg. the sweet bears, are very impressive.
The recent updates to the park are great. The whole park was accessible by wheelchair. I can't comment on accessible toilets as didn't use them.
There are several eateries and several picnic spots too. Disappointing vegan options and the cafes only serve machine coffee which means oat milk added into black coffee, which curdled. Yuck. There was a vegan ice cream scoop option (vanilla) and I spotted vegan Magnums too.
There's an animatronic dinosaur trail which has more models than anything similar I've seen and is very impressive.
There's also a large paddling pool area with sun loungers and picnic benches, and changing facilities for youngsters in swimwear.
This would make a very full day out for children up to, say, 10 years old. There's indoor soft play for younger children plus a little train that does a loop around the dinosaur area (£2 per ticket, purchase at ride). There's also an outdoor stage with character performances.
I think it's a real shame to rename it 'Hertfordshire Zoo'. It isn't really a 'zoo' as, looking at the map, more than half of it is not animals, it's play areas and other entertainment. PWP is renowned and will lose the familiarity it has for so many, which is sad.
