The George pub and it's attached Coach House accommodation is a hidden gem that simply must be explored, experienced and enjoyed. We stayed one night only in the family room [dogs allowed]. This well appointed room has an extremely comfortable and cosy bed, the bathroom is spacious and includes a great family of ducks on the bath as well as carefully chosen shampoo, conditioner, shower and bath gel. There is a standalone shower which is a little small but perfectly adequate. The tea/coffee tray is well set up with high quality tea/coffee/biscuits. The thought and attention to detail that has gone into creating high standard and beautifully decorated accommodation is fantastic. On arrival, Chris greeted us and asked if we would like to book a table for dinner which we did. Four hours later we entered the pub and were welcomed by Chris who suggested we have a drink at the bar. We were warmly welcomed by barman and locals alike. Real ale, lagers, specialty gins, whiskeys and an amazingly excellent range of wines were on offer - especially recommend the McLaren Vale Willunga 100 and Dandelion Shiraz & Reisling which are truly wonderful wines. Chris suggested bavette [or hanger] steak which he cooked to perfection and served with his hand cut chips. The turkey and cranberry pie with bangers was also delicious. Our breakfast was also cooked to perfection. Chris has put an incredible amount of time and effort into creating a warm, friendly ambience in both the pub and accommodation. He is very knowledgeable and passionate about food and wines - it is obvious he aims to provide high quality food/drink and the best, most comfortable accommodation - an aim he most successfully achieves. We needed to book accommodation quickly as we had a funeral to attend at the Great Glen crematorium which was an easy 20 minute drive away. Couldn't have chosen a better place - Chris offers the best B&B we've had in ages and his food/wine is superb. Definitely recommend all who read this review to book a room and sample all the Chris's menu and wine list have to offer. Thank you Chris for a marvellous stay.

We had one night, with dinner and breakfast at this place. The service was wonderful, Chris and Dom couldn’t do enough to help and make sure we had a comfortable stay. It’s also superb when someone remembers and uses your name, rather than being treated as one of many guests staying.

The dinner cooked by Chris was very tasty and clearly used fresh ingredients at their best. It’s wonderful to see a chef still creating meals people can see and taste the love for the ingredients and effort that goes into them.

Breakfast was a very good portion with once again tasty top quality ingredients, with a personal service.

I’m looking forward to visiting again next time we’re this way!

Excellent room and facilities the were first class . Lovely spacious room., great storage space and best of all.the very comfortable bed and pillows . Highly recommend and will use again .
Although I was unlucky that food was not being served due to the chef being off at short notice the food menu looks good with plenty of options for all tastes , hope to get to eat when visiting again . A very warm , pleasant and welcoming atmosphere .

We returned a second time for dinner for 6 and the food was outstanding.
I had the Smoked Haddock on a bed of saffron mash and cheese sauce and it was the most tasty dish I have eaten in ages, and we dine out several times per month.

My wife and one of her sisters had good old fish and chips, it was top quality, as good as any 5 star restaurant.

What they did not know was that one brother in-law is a qualified chef, of Ritz hotel background and teaches at catering college and can be highly critical, so we enjoyed it even more when he gave the thumbs up after his Scallop starter!

The landlord and his family were all waiting on us and were so nice and friendly, and very professional and far exceeded our expectations of a pub.

We will return and this is now on our list as a great place to book and enjoy quality food and excellent hospitality.

Eat, drink or stay, we cannot recommend the George as worth it !

Really great to see the George back open and in such good hands. We stayed here for 3 nights and had a warm welcome, lovely room and great food all the way through. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble and even our old dog Gypsy was spoiled rotten as well. Can’t wait to come back!
