We had a warm welcome as we arrived in the pub and the staff were lovely throughout the meal. The food was excellent as well. The fact that puddings were only an additional £1 on top of a main was amazing value. Dog friendly as well!
Only slight issue was the fact that there was still work being done on the ladies' toilets, so we had to use the gents'.

Good value for money 3 course lunch for £10 served by friendly staff pub very clean and comfortable with first class views over the local countryside look forward to the summer to sit outside in the garden

As a villager I can say that it’s great to have Claire and Dan running the pub. The food and service is great and the music nights are great fun! Having seen some of the negative reviews in the past it’s so good to see my local going from strength to strength.

Visited The Black Horse today with 10 other ladies for lunch. The food and service was very good indeed. Excellent value for money £7.95 for 2 courses. Food was freshly made and served piping hot - we couldn't ask for any more.

After a walk from Gumley to Foxton with friends we stopped here for a bite to eat and a couple of drinks. We chose from the lunchtime menu, 1 course £6.95 or 2 courses for £7.95. It was broccoli and Stilton soup to start, served with warm bread, the soup was delicious, you could smell the Stilton as soon as it was put on the table. Mains was a choice of cheese omelette, scampi and chips or chicken and mushroom pie.
It was a lovely sunny day so we sat out in the very pleasant beer garden.

O dear Sunday lunch has not changed from last visit. Veg under cooked and 2 small bowls for 5, they did bring 2 more.
My Sisters stuffing was uncooked, Beef was lovely. We had asked for the gravy in a jug but didn’t get any at all, had to get up and ask where it was. All in all no more Sunday lunch there.

Nice enough pub with real beer, not just lager.
Unfortunately we went for the Chef's Specials. Ham , egg and chips and Scampi and chips.Plenty of Ham and a nicely cooked egg. The chips were useless frozen and then overcooked. the peas were pretty poor supermarket basics. What got me was on the next table they had chips which were nice and steak cut.
If you go to the Black Horse go a la carte, not the specials.

We often use the Black Horse and, following all the recent changes, the place is warm, friendly & welcoming with great staff. We've eaten twice since the restaurant opened earlier this month and each time it has been an extremely pleasant experience - great food, good atmosphere and excellent service. Thank you Black Horse.

We came for a meal with friends last night and were very impressed with the food. The four of us had four different starters and mains and desserts, thus sampling 12 items from the menu. All dishes were absolutely fabulous. It should be noted I am VERY fussy with my food and expect quality dishes. The Black horse chefs certainly delivered.
The waitresses were absolutely delightful girls, very helpful, friendly and attentive.We sat in the conservatory area, which was warm and pleasant. The chairs were quite uncomfortable after a couple of hours but we are old gits with sore backs.
We thought the lighting was possibly the wrong way round, the bar was quite dim, and the conservatory was very bright. That's just our opinion though, and certainly wouldn't put us off.We look forward to coming back soon and trying more items off the menu.
Hubby said there was a great range of beer on tap which pleased him, and is usually the big decider as to whether we go back somewhere.We will see you very soon!

We are staying in Foxton for a week and visited the pub today at lunchtime for a meal . The food was excellent , my husband's fish and chips with mushy peas was one of the best he said he had tasted and my chicken breast meal followed by baked cheesecake was very tasty. Food is freshly cooked hence a short wait and staff are very friendly. Would definitely recommend.
