My husband and I went for a meal on Saturday night and again we’re really pleased. Chris didn’t disappoint with his great flavours and the whole evening was relaxed and comfortable. See you again soon

We (4 of us) were there the first night of the Autumn menu and each of the dishes we had were superb. The owner/chef was very personable and ensured we had a good meal. Good wines and beer served too.

My girlfriend and I stayed at The George while visiting family nearby. It was our first time in the village of Ashley and at The George.
We were greeted by Chris (the owner) and his lovely little dog Crunchie. Our first night was spent enjoying the cosy and friendly atmosphere of the pub and some fantastic red wine. We didn’t have dinner at the pub but we had breakfast both mornings. With Chris being the chef and the owner (and a very good chef to add) our breakfast both mornings was delicious. We enjoyed the company of Chris and look forward to returning in the next few months.
Our two dogs who were also with us enjoyed having Crunchie to play with.
Thanks again Chris.Jack and Beth

We dined here this evening for the first time in a number of years.
The hosts were very welcoming with excellent knowledge of the local produce they use & their attention to the selection of wines . The food was fabulous! Tasted great & well presented. To finish it off they could adapt or offer most of the menu gluten free!

It’s an absolute pleasure to be able to write a great review for The George. We wanted to last year but sadly we couldn’t get served. Neil, Steph and their daughter were exceptional hosts this evening. We chose to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary here; our first real meal out since lockdown. I’m so glad we did. Not only was the food superb but the atmosphere was warm and cosy with Neil popping over to check that we were ok and having a chat. I had the warm quinoa salad and my husband had the mushroom soup. We followed it with halibut and steak. Both absolutely delicious. We managed to squeeze in a sticky toffee pudding, white chocolate cheesecake and coffee!
Everything washed down with a fantastically smooth Pinot noir. Thoroughly recommend a visit. We’ll definitely be back.

I can honestly say that I have never had a better Sunday lunch outside my own house. I am a complainer if anything is not right and I had absolutely no reason for complaint. Thanks to all for a great experience and good cider.

Now under new management, we visited last night with friends that have the pleasure of calling this establishment, “their local”. Atmosphere, service and food were first class. We opted for the salmon starter and shared the Tomahawk special .... it was cooked to perfection and served as requested.
We are already planning our return! Would definitely recommend this establishment. Very good with allergies too.

Visited this pub (a real public house) on its 4th week of reopening. Tidy, friendly, helpful and with a really decent availability of local ale, local cider and gin, a great testament to a new business trying something different and doing it well. The food menu looks good to. And there are rooms available.
