We went for Sunday lunch. Found this place after travelling originally to Foxton to go to the steakhouse but finding it had been victim to a recent fire! We then Google’d nearby places to eat and passed this place on our way to foxton locks from the steakhouse. I said that looks nice, called up and booked table.
Family of four.
Two adults & Two children (boys) aged 9 & 6As best behaved as we could possibly get them considering they fight every minute of every day at home!
Very much enjoyed the food - so yummy.Price meets expectations for quality.
Atmosphere is wonderful with fantastic views. Not overcrowded and well spaced out. Although we went at 12 when they opened so were first ones in, by time we left it there was loads of customers yet we still felt like we were in our own little zone.
Friendly staff, attentive service but not too attentive - just right.Boys want to go back, id love to go back. Already had thoughts on what we would try out next time.
Cost £85 for Family of four having two courses each- a main and dessert, (3 off the adult menu and 1 off the child’s menu) plus a Shared starter of cheesy garlic bread and an additional plate of Mac n cheese off the child’s menu for the other half (so 5 meals), and four drinks. 10% added on the bill as a gratuity, optional of course you can remove this but we kept it there as felt we had a good of experience as possible and felt very welcome.
Dogs were clearly accepted as we noticed a little glass with doggy biscuit treats at one of the bars ( not the main restaurant side ).
Decor was pleasing to the eye. Felt like a nice modern place to eat. Didn’t feel out of place as if it were too posh for us, felt very comfortable - just overall a wonderful lovely modern pub restaurant with amazing views and plenty of seating choices, inside main area, conservatory, and outside in the garden area. Would 100% recommend.

Booked this place after not being able to book at another pub.
We travelled from the other side of Northants and I am so pleased we made the journey! We all chose a Sunday lunch (2 children, 4 adults).
There was ample food on plates and it was very tasty. Staff were very friendly and attentive.Table was in a conservatory over looking the fields which was nice.
There was a 10% service charge automatically added to the bill. There was a note on the table stating this so it didnt come at any surprise. We were very happy with the service so paid it. Really pleased that we came here and will defiantly be coming back.

Note that it doesn't provide food on Monday and Tuesday evenings, so don't get caught out! Friendly local pub with good beer and excellent lamb. Easy walk along from Foxton Locks.

4 of us had decided a nice leisurely walk was on the cards for the sunny Bank Holiday Monday..We plumped on a 45 minute journey to Foxton Locks and on completion of the stroll walked up to the Black Horse( The pub by the locks was heaving..and didn't look very relaxing with fraught adults attending their offspring) which we had noted on our way into Foxton. It was a welcome coolness inside...and an even more welcome and unexpected Gin Bar! I asked the gentleman behind the bar to choose me a Gin as there were so many..and he plumped for the Empress which changes colour when you add tonic..(aside from the gimmick it tasted good too) We wanted a small bite to eat as we were going out for a meal in the evening..but were confronted by large platefuls of our sandwiches of choice(steak/ fish finger)...with fabulous chips(I'm not generally a chip fan and always give some away...not today Jose !)

Booked in for a meal , arrived 20 minutes early ,
So we sat at the bar , wonderful selection of gins , we decided to go for the gin , shame it was served incorrectly with no passion or flare , just ice .. not what you would expect for a gin bar !!
We were shown to our table , food was beautiful good old fish and chips , huge delicious plateful .
The staff here in my view are lazy , no interaction, no customer service skills . The grey hair lady maybe the landlady is sour looking and makes you feel uncomfortable,
This could be a fabulous place , but the staff would rather chat together when serving , than give any customer service.
No welcome or goodbyes.

Stopped by after a stroll along the locks and canal rather than face the crowds at the pub next to the canal. The pub is not what I expected on the inside, credit where it is due, they have made the place nice and it has a nice feel to it. Plenty of locals chatting and the chap who was working on the bar seemed friendly enough.
I need gluten free food, not by choice, so when I asked and staff checked with chef then brought me out a menu with suitable meals marked, most of the menu appeared ok. I was a little surprised when the lady serving asked if I could eat chips and when informed asked me if I wanted mash instead.....mash it was then! I had gammon and found I got my monies worth, my wife had a more expensive dish but got considerably less food so ended up helping me finish mine.
A meal for two with a drink each and no dessert was around £40 so not bad and when you take in the crowd from the pub and the convenience of it then it's not a bad spot. The table was a bit sticky, felt like they had literally just been painted, the additional 10% service charge which you can ask to have removed I felt was off putting, I would rather have the option of leaving a tip as you may be left more than 10% than have it imposed on me. The serving staff may work a little harder at being more welcoming, if the tip was not imposed.

A traditional looking pub in this small village just a few yards up the hill from the canal, there is a good sized garden to one side as well as a pleasant terrace overlooking the garden. A large “Texas Steakhouse” sign outside though started alarm bells ringing, but as there did not appear to be anything else in the immediate vicinity we carried on in. The rear room is very contemporary in style, not at all what one would expect to find in an old village inn, and consisted of sanded wooden boards on the floor, grey paintwork on the walls, grey padded bench seating around the perimeter with a number of vibrant green scatter cushions, and, in places, wallpaper that had been printed to look like grey brickwork.
The menu was very much of the steak and burgers variety, with nothing in the way of any light snacks which is what we were after. That said, a sign on the wall indicated that the Texas Steakhouse would be leaving the pub shortly due to a lack of support from some locals, and that it would be taken over by another operator. To be honest, if my village local were turned in to a Texas Steakhouse, I think it’s pretty unlikely that I’d be giving it much support either. In the end we just shared a starter of cheesy chips with bacon, and this was actually a decent enough dish and certainly a generous portion for the price. I’m not sure it was exactly as described on the menu, I’m pretty sure it said bacon crumbs, not bacon strips, and I think it also mentioned some soured cream which did not materialise. On the whole, rom the limited amount we had the food wasn’t actually at all bad, so if large steaks and burgers are your thing, this may suit. But if you’re expecting a traditional village pub, you’re going to be sadly disappointed.
