I've been going to Amico for years now before the upstairs area was created. I've always enjoyed the food, the service, and the venue. Unfortunately, it seems to have gone slowly downhill over the years.

I recently had brunch with my family (3 of us) and was thoroughly looking forward to it.

We were sat upstairs as it was a busy Saturday morning, this is understandable. Strangely, we were sat on a 2 person table when there was 3 of us (2 adults + a toddler). This ended up being a big problem as 3 plates on 1 small table with a toddler wasn't great.

The service was slow. We waited around 10 minutes to get served which, when you have a toddler, feels like forever.

The food arrived relatively quickly which was good. We ordered a regular breakfast, Turkish eggs and halloumi, and a kids pasta.

The kids pasta arrived in a huge bowl on a massive plate - not exactly brilliant for a toddler, especially on a small table.

The regular breakfast was piled up on a plate. This is good as there was a lot of food, however, I didn't have anywhere to cut any of the food up - no room on the plate. The scrambled eggs were ok but they were missing some seasoning. The baked beans were slightly bland.

The Turkish eggs and halloumi were good but the eggs were overdone and the halloumi was underdone.

My toddler also had a babyccino which tasted very sweet and came in an adult sized mug - that's far too much for such a small person.

The venue itself is very nice however there's too many tables in there and not enough room. The music was very loud as well - not exactly great when I'm trying to eat my food and have a conversation.

In conclusion, I think Amico still has great potential, however, it's far too busy. If there were more staff in a larger venue a lot of the problems above probably wouldn't occur. We would have been served faster, been sat at a better table with more room, and the food would have been better as there would have been more time to focus on it.

I hope to have a better experience next time.
