Wonderful tea and cake served-try the fruit loaf and loose leaf tea-just fab for anyone taking a break from the walk along the South Downs.

This was a lovely place to visit, the views out to sea are breathtaking and history of this place is so interesting and such a shame that the coastline is gradually eroding. Well worth a visit if your near

I was visiting the UK and my sister took me on a bright sunny day. I had a fractured ankle so the walk down the steps wasn't in our plans but we walked a little way to the edge of the cliff to the left of the light house. I was surprised that there were no fences between me and a humungous drop from the cliff edge to the beach below - both of us were nervous of the edge crumbling away! There is a path that leads up to the lighthouse for more ambulatory folks than I at that time, I am planning to accomplish that next time around!

If you have children with you, then keep them on a leash ;o) and don't let them run ahead of you by far.

The view was gorgous both looking towards the English Channel and 180 degrees from it inland and over the fields. Worth it if you like to participate in natural beauty as well as observing it.

Can get down to beach and swim looking up at the white cliffs towering above you.

We went on a damp and blustery day to Birling Gap.

This is a primaeval place, it seems to be at the end of the world.

If you go for a good beach, you will be disappointed. If you go for a lively time, you will be disappointed. Go for the geology and and the view and you'll get a treat.

Lots of parking and very good walking. The weather was against us when we visited the beach. Too much wind and the threat of rain cut short our visit. Nice tearoom and good facilities.

The Birling Gap is along the South Downs Trail and is an easy walk from Beachy Head, making a good after pub lunch constitutional. There is a viewing platform jutting out where you can see the Seven Sisters white cliffs. Can be quite inspiring on a good sunny day. I took a lot of photos of the area so I recommend taking a camera.

This is one of our all time favourite spots and from here you can walk over the Seven Sisters to Cuckmere haven and have lunch at The Golden Galleon before returning back either retracing your steps or (in the Summer) catching the 12a bus.
