A small, low-tide sand and shingle beach not far from Trefin. The beach is great for rock pooling although swimming is not really suitable for swimming. It is surrounded by high cliffs the beach is sheltered from prevailing winds and is an ideal sun trap and a great place to bathe during the summer. This beach includes pebbles and extraordinarily dark sand made of pounded grey slate. Abereiddy is a popular place to go coasteering, climb cliffs and jump into the sea. Also a row of ruined cottages can be seen alongside the old quarry. Dogs are allowed on the beach. There is no existing lifeguard service at the beach. In 2013 the beach was awarded with a Green Coast Award and Seaside Award (Rural). Read more
