First visit to the area, so had coffee here before walking up to the monument. Having then seen the menu, we decided to have lunch afterwards. What an absolute treat!! An imaginative menu, rather than just your normal sandwiches, soup, burgers etc. Very tasty, well presented, locally sourced ingredients, unpretentious and reasonably priced. The staff were all pleasant, friendly and helpful too. Even the chef came out to talk to people. Certainly a lesson to other food outlets in the area.

We made our fourth visit to Base last night. The staff are always so welcoming and friendly. When booking I request a vegan menu and it is always amazing. Really delicious courses and beautifully presented. It was the first time we've been since they introduced the wine pairing option which really enhanced the experience. Would highly recommend a visit to Base.

Amazing culinary delight with fabulously innovative tasting menu. Love the locally -sourced,seasonal ingredients.Super professional,welcoming ,knowledgeable waiting staff,Abigail & Emma. A joy to watch a chef,Mark, & his support team, Tony & Son-of-Tony, preparing each course with precision & perfection. A captivating,totally relaxed evening to round-off a truly memorable holiday in this most friendly of areas.Huge thanks all.We will be back when next in the area.

Fantastic set menu. We had the set meal with wine pairing and even managed to squeeze in a cheese board. All amazing. Great value for the quality of the food. Fine dining without the snobbery - we will definitely be back soon

A small restaurant with a warm and friendly atmosphere. Mark and his team could not have done more. We loved how you could see Chef at work and the care and attention he took with every dish.
His food was beautifully presented and the flavour combinations were exactly as described on the website, exciting!
We were pleasantly full at the end of our meal and the wine pairing was excellent.

Went to base with my husband a mum for a belated Mother’s Day lunch. It was a lovely day and the outside terrace was buzzing with activity. I ordered the butter bean cassoulet which I’d been tempted by before but never tried. It was absolutely delicious and a perfect portion size for lunch. Mum and hubby ordered the duck flatbreads and salt and chilli chips..also delicious, clean plates all round. Staff were friendly and attentive covering customers needs either seated, take out or serving ice creams. Highly recommend for something a bit special for lunch at a very reasonable price.

Amazing place, had genuinly the best food I've ever eaten here, always go here for a special treat on our birthdays and can't wait to have my baby shower here in June, lovely friendly atmosphere, staff are welcoming and the food is outstanding, will always reccomend and will be returning 😀

Absolutely delicious food and fantastic service 👌 we had a table outside as it was lovely and warm. Inside restaurant was lovely with open plan kitchen so you can see the chef’s producing the delicious meals.

A wonderful evening with amazing food created by the very talented homegrown Mark Satterthwaite. The best beef that I have ever tasted sourced from a local farm. A real experience and treat. Book yourself a table and enjoy! 🍾🍾

Wonderful tasting menu, can’t recommend it highly enough! The mackerel and the beef are utterly outstanding, the additional optional cheese course, had some of my favourites and new things I haven’t tried before, which is really rare. Well done Mark and the Base team, keep up the good work!

We went for the evening taster menu. Once again absolutely gorgeous food. I love this place. May seem expensive at £49 but honestly worth every penny. Let’s face it if you have 3 courses in a pub it can easily cost 35 to 40 upwards.
It’s also great for lunch and brunch with a walk up the Hoad.

We knew it was a set menu at the time & date we was booking but as we both love trying new foods we couldn’t wait to see what we thought of the foods. We were greeted at the door by a lovey brunette girl, who showed us to our table and took a drinks order for us. We then we’hing they were doing which was amazing to see the concerntration and detail that went into their work. I cannot reccomend BASE enough! I absolutely Loved the soup & the pigs cheek dishes. My partner loved the lobster as his favourite but we both loved it all it was just so full of flavour.

I married my forever love at Base Restaurant this past Saturday. It was the most magical day, in a relaxed and intimate setting with a beautiful backdrop in the gardens.
The food was amazing and the team at Base went above and beyond to make sure that everybody had a great day.
It was a day that we wish we could relive again and again and that’s all thanks to Mark, Beth and all the team at Base for making the day so special for us two and all our family and friends.
Can’t recommend this venue enough.

I visited here on Friday evening with my dad, the restaurant was full which is already a great sign.
The staff were so welcoming and we were made to feel very included as they took the time to explain each individual meal to us throughly.
The venue is a little out of the way however I feel this adds more of an exclusive vibe.
The food was absolutely out of this world and the value for money is incredible. My personal favourite was the ‘pan roasted duck breast’
I will definitely be returning and over all had a great experience.
