December 2020, and sadly, due to Coronovirus the cafe is closed. There is parking here by donation and the park and hill remain open. Much loved by dog walkers, families and walkers, the climb up the hill may be breezy, but rewards you with spectacular 360 degree views. Please give a donation for parking and support to the cafe when it reopens. This place is a much loved gem and we need to ensure it remains well maintained

Our first time at The Base, definitely won't be our last. The food was superb. Mark's presentation was fantastic, made even better by the fact its an open kitchen, so could watch him prepare everything. Nice touch at the end when he went round every table. Friendly staff. Top night.

First time trying the evening menu, all courses were delicious and presentation was fab. Friendly, attentive staff and loved being able to watch Chef prepare/present food in open kitchen. Love that menu will always be different; you can view the menus up to month in advance and so can pick which evening has best menu to suit taste. Chef coming round at end of meal was a nice touch; will defiantly book again. Very covid aware and excellent value.

We had a fab lunch yesterday. I had the best ever duck confit and much beloved had a mussel risotto which he rated 10 out of 10! I highly recommend this lovely food experience. And the gluten free is great with lots of choices for a change.

We love this place as a family and as dog owners. It has a designated dog exercise area, play park for children and cafe that allows dogs. Access to the Hoad monument is through the park. It's a great asset to the community and a friendly place to be, just a short walk or even shorter drive from the nice little market town centre.

Community park, cafe, meeting place & garden. You'll find parkrun here every Saturday morning & the Coach House cafe is very popular too. Easy access from here onto Hoad Hill. Frequented by locals.

Lovely area of Ulverston to walk your dog or take your kids to play on the outdoor play area, great all round veiws and paths leading upto hoad monument. A local coffee shop towards Ford park house with produce being grown right next to the coffee shop.

Nice park, dog walking areas, decent cafe (although not the cheapest) free parking and plenty going on. Also a small park. The only warning I would give is to dry away on a Saturday morning while the Parkrun is on as they dominate everything. That said it is nice to see these spaces being so well used.
