Stayed here for one night while on a training course for work, with 2 colleagues. Arrived late evening, hotel was wasy to find, check in was easy, room was good and comfortable. Breakfast was good, check out was easy.

Only downside, which wasn't really much of a problem, the hotel car park was full, but there is a Pay & Display opposite, and you can park all night for a pound.

Overall a good night's stay and would stay here again if in Bolton in the future

We stayed at the hotel to attend a family event nearby. The hotel is a former Moat House and sits in the centre of Bolton.
The hotel has some underground parking, but I can imagine this may become full quickly.

The reception staff were helpful, especially with booking taxis and left luggage. The rooms/beds comfortable, although decor slightly tired - average standard in compaison with other Holiday Inn hotels. I would note the shower head was mouldy and the kettle rather grubby.

We were surprised at how small the main restaurant was and that it was not better seperated from the foyer - we did not eat here though, so I cannot comment further.

We asked for late checkout, normally available to priority club members - however the hotel was unable to honour this due to a couple of events on.

Altogether, a good stay.. However I've stayed in more impressive Holiday Inns!

We stayed for 2 nights on a B&B basis.

Good points:
Plenty of car parking
Good range of breakfast foods and plenty of seating
Polite, friendly and helpful staff
Good pool (based on the opinion of my brother, nephew and niece
Location - easy to find, near to town centre and main roads to the motorway
Nice rooms
Plenty of tea and coffee in the rooms
Good shower
Spotlessly clean rooms
Comfortable beds

Bad points
Insufficient staff at busy times - took a while to check in
Some issues with the check in system meant some issues with members of our group being asked to have twins rather than doubles and vice versa but upgrades were offered so this was a brief concern rather than a problem.
Not enough menus at the restaurant - had to wait until other group had finished perusing
Fairly expensive food and drinks (5 coffees and a J2O was nearly £19)
Some noise from the parties held below
Battery in safe had expired

This is a nice Holiday Inn and actually serves good food in the restaurant too. The fish and chips deserve special praise. Good location very close to the town centre and museums. It also has underground car parking (tricky to park in some spaces here) and open, above ground, parking. But be warned it is a popular hotel for wedding receptions and parties at weekends. The noise in our room was awful at midnight on Saturday and we were not offered a change of room when we complained(but who would want to change at midnight?). The din finished at 1 a.m. The management reduced our bill appropriately next day but we'd have preferred a good nights sleep. So we'd recommend either avoiding weekends here or make sure you have a room which is well away from the wedding reception rooms (they can apparently accommodate 3 weddings at one time).

Stayed for a couple of days on business. Good location in the centre of Bolton with adequate parking both underground and at the side of the hotel. The centre of Bolton all within easy walking distance.

There was a wedding reception all day and evening but I found that the rooms were quite adequately sound proofed and was not disturbed at all.

Good reception staff and an upgrade room as a Platinum member. Queen size bed plus a single bed and a nice lounge area within the room with two easy chairs and a coffee table along with a work desk and chair. All was clean and tidy and the bathroom set up well maintained.

The only down side, as with a lot of Holiday Inns is the inordinately large charge for a wifi connection within the bedroom. The public areas have free wifi but the speed is very slow. When will IHG realize that they need to add free wifi to their rooms. I found linking to my iPhone as a hot spot a much quick, easier and cheaper option than using the hotel wifi.

The restaurant was more than adequate serving reasonable food at reasonable prices. There are lots of restaurants within easy walking distance of the hotel should wish to venture out.

All in all a typical Holiday Inn but with the added bonus of a pleasant staff and a good location.

I stayed for one night and from what I saw could not fault the place. The room was very modern and clean. The beds were fantastic with big pillows and a very smart bathroom. It has a gym and a lounge bar that is open to the small hours. Breakfast is a bit on the pricey side - £15.

Would recommend this to any one, will be a pleasant stay.

The Holiday Inn Bolton Centre is conveniently located in the centre of town. Quite handy to get to it offers all the basic amenities in a quite tidy hotel. The hotel has its own small car park, a gym, a dining area and a bar. It also has its own wifi network. The staff are quite pleasant and the rooms are clean. The beds and pillows and comfortable. I got an executive room and got free wifi, plus they left a basket of water, chocolates, and some robes to use. The room was spacious with a TV and had its own quite spacious table. There is plenty of space to keep objects for a longer stay. It is fully equipped if you need to do some work. I had nothing to complain about in my stay in the room. The bar is quite nice, albeit at night there are a few inebriated folks wandering around from what I assume was either a wedding or a stag do. I never got to use the gym/spa area. I recommend this hotel for a good stay.

Few tips:
(1) Book early and get the executive room (worth it as it offers a choice of free upgrades including wifi, as well as complimentary basket etc.)
(2) Get there early if you can as parking can be a bit limited
(3) Don't use the cash machine in the lobby - if you walk a little bit into town you can find a cash machine which does not charge for taking out money
(4) Breakfast is quite good at the hotel

City Centre location with events such as weddings catered for. Noise from wedding parties permeated throughout but fortunately stopped some time between Midnight and 1 a.m. Arrived late and all parking at hotel was taken but helpful staff provided voucher for car park across the road. Didn't feel as secure as hotel car park would have despite notices assuring security. And further to carry the luggage. Room was comfortable with basics well catered for. Breakfast was self service and had a very good selection of food was available.

Only a few minutes' walk away from the pedestrian zone in central Bolton, the location is the best part of this otherwise quite mediocre hotel.

Was looking forward to a lovely lie in after a hectic working week but was woken at 8.00am on a Sunday with loud drilling which turns out to be roadworks right out side the hotel . When I rang down to reception and asked why there guests was not informed off this when checking in I was told there was posters around the hotel advising this was going to happen. It turned out to be one letter were the tourist info was, I'm not a tourist so failed to see the notice. When I asked to speak to the duty manager , he didn't know what I was talking about and his attitude was "you should expect some noise, your staying in a city hotel " no apologies and lacked customer service skills, he did not manage the situation well at all, will never stay there again. I appreciate the hotel cannot control what happens outside the hotel but I think they should of kept guests more informed. I would not of stayed there if I had known about the early wake up . It seems the road works will be going on through July too so if your wanting a relaxing break with lie in, I would avoid this hotel for next month or so.

I have stayed at this hotel many times over the past few weeks and I have found the staff helpful, cheerful and pleasant each time I have stayed there. All the staff, (especially the restaurant staff who went out of their way to accommodate my custard fetish), were a credit to the hotel - you feel you are talking with friends rather than staff. The food was excellent and the specials were delicious, the breakfast was fantastic - highly recommended!
As it is a town centre hotel I did not expect to see the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, however, the rooms was clean and relaxing and most of all, comfortable.
The pool was warm and clean, as was the gym.
The only, (ever-so-slight), niggle was the TV in the room. It was one of those square traditional CRT ones as opposed to a flat, widescreen tv. Most television broadcasts are in widescreen format these days. I was also slightly disappointed by the range of channels available, BBC 4 especially, would be a welcome addition. ("Russia Today" was on the TV channel listing???)
I do recommend this hotel and I would stay there again - Thank-you!

Used for a business trip and as such it was serviceable not memorable. The staff were friendly and efficient, the room was a ggod size and clean, the outlook from the window totally depressing, why would anyone want to look out on flat roofs and metalwork? Absolutely no view beyond that so may well have been in a prison cell!

We booked an online deal which purported to include breakfast; however on checking in they had no record of it even though I had corresponded with head office about it. We therefore had to incur extra cost - there was no attempt to help, just "no breakfast has been booked therefore you have to pay" - all very politely I have to say.
Just be aware that if you want to have a late night drink (after about 11.30) you will have needed to have given your credit card details at check in. We returned to the hotel at that time and although the bar was open, we could not have a drink even by paying cash. We did not realise this when they asked us at check in if we wanted to give our credit card details for extras, we thought that would have been for room service or laundry or such, not a drink at the bar before midnight.
The rooms are very comfortable, with toiletries in the bathroom.
The breakfast is quite good, although the fruit and juices were not replenished during the time we were there.
The pool is a good size for the type of hotel and there is a small sauna (but no steam room) which would have been a good addition.

We where at a wedding June 1st. Stayed one night. Check-in were very friendly. Good onsisght secure parking free to guests. Either underground or at the back. We parked underground as we had lots of video and camera boxes etc that we didnt want to drag through the hotel. There are 2 lifts which will also take you down to the basement carpark, entry back in is secured via reception.
It really is slap bang in the town centre. I have moved away from Bolton, but know it well as I lived there over 30yrs. Our room 115 was very pleasant. We just booked a std dble with breakfast so was surprised at how nice it was. I think its been overhaulled not that long ago(there was a fire). Our evening room was great and so was the buffet. Everyone had a really good time. Bar prices were steep but we are in the centre of town so you can go elsehwere (if your not at a wedding) Breakfast was better than average, lovely restaurant area at the fron- the glass bit on the right on photos. We didnt have time to go to the pool or fitness area.
We would def book here again if we need to saty in centre of Bolton. Excellent value for money

I came to the Holiday Inn Bolton from Surrey to research my family history in the area. This hotel is an ideal place to stay if you want somewhere clean and comfortable to return to - somewhere you can crash out after a long, tiring day. The Holiday Inn reputation means you may not necessarily get luxury, but you can be confident the service and accomodation will be satisfactory and you won't get any nasty surprises. You certainly get good value for your money here, although there is an extra £3 fee if you ask room service to bring food to your room. The decor is becoming a little dated but it's of no concern, really, considering the reasonable rates. The most important thing about a hotel, in my view, is not the aesthetics, it's the cleaniness and service. The Holiday Inn Bolton excels at these. The staff are all friendly and accomodating and appear genuinely pleased to serve you. Special praise goes to Lilliam - thank you for your help and advice!

As regards food - if you are considering a stay here, I recommend you include breakfast as they were most enjoyable and the tastiest I've had for a long while and with lots of choice. It got me right through the day, saving on the cost of lunch. As for my evening meal - Don't expect silver service if you order room service.... I anticipated my "hot 'n' spicy" pizza would be delivered on a plate, as food generally is, but it came instead inside a pizza box (like it had come not from the kitchens but from the nearest pizza delivery place)... and what happened to the jalapenos?!

But, no, seriously, I had a great stay and would book a room here again if I returned to the area.

I stayed in this hotel for two nights with 6 other colleagues. The hotel is situated very close to the city centre and is easily found. The car park isn't without challenge as it is tight. However it was secure and our cars were safe - this was our main concern as the city centre is an urban combat zone at night! Only visit the centre if you want to see run down rough pubs and kebab houses. I have never seen so many police and door staff - go there at your own risk at night.

The hotel.provided a more than adequate sanctuary. The receptionist was friendly and efficient. However little is on offer to Priorityclub members - we are all Platinum members and no recognition was offered. The rooms were adequate but nothing out of the ordinary; but for the room rate you couldn't argue.

There is a pool and health suite. The bar was nice and the drinks were well kept. Overall a good stay, but Bolton was quite a shock.

I booked the HOLIDAY INN, BOLTON at the last minute and was delighted at the rate and the selection of rooms available. On arrival I could not have felt more welcome, The bar and restaurant staff could not have been more efficient, receptive or proffessional. I felt very much at home, the service was faultless.

It makes a big difference when travellers are made to feel important, no fuss but genuine service at excellent levels to make you want to return.

A very big thank you and congratulations on making my stay an excellent experience...

10 out of 10 for service..

A special mention (forgive my spelling) to Jimmy at reception and Shiffon in the bar and Sanjai who appeared to be the driving force.. Thanks to you all.

Seriously impressive !!!!

Stayed and attended a meeting, the function room located at the back of the hotel is a church and would make the most amazing wedding venue! I hear there are lots of weddings there. Staff couldn't do enough for you. Would certainly return.

Stayed one night for a meeting in the centre of Bolton and internet search bought up this hotel as closest to my meeting.
As location was the main criteria and the fact that it was a "Holiday Inn" I thought why not.
Cost of £79.00 per room per night inc breakfast was good ( although travelling alone).
Rooms were ideal, very clean and comfortable.
My only criticism was the value for money in the bar and restaurant.
I know people will always say you have a choice to go out of the hotel, which I would normally do, however, after arriving fairly late I just wanted a couple of drinks and a meal.
whilst there were no complaints about the food or drink the prices are quite steep.
Saying that, it was my only criticism and overall the hotel , staff and amenities were excellent.

We stayed here on Saturday evening and were quite impressed. Very nice, friendly staff and a lovely swimming pool and fitness suite. Sauna was a bit small for more that 2 people but otherwise great. We did not have the breakfast.

Having stayed at this hotel before I can only re-iterate how good value for money it is. The rooms are clean, the food good and the staff very friendly - what more can you ask for.
