Stayed here for two nights - nothing was a problem - interconnecting rooms, food for my special kids and access to the pool. Service was excellent - great staff team. Thanks

Although a standard Holiday Inn this hotel is situated just minutes from the town centre with all its shops and nightlife. The hotel itself is in a very quiet location.Free parking,a good leisure club and some of the friendliest staff we have ever seen in a hotel has made it a regular location for our weekends away.

This hotel was very well priced for room only, we went there with a bit of trepidation because we has heard some mixed comments, but as it was just round the corner from our daughter's one bedroom flat we went for it. We were pleased that we did and will probably use it again when next we venture up to Bolton. The room was clean and comfortable, with nothing to fault, but the high point was the very friendly and helpful staff who greeted us when we arrived and whenever we met. The car parking was convenient, free and there seemed to be plenty of space.

As we had family just aoround the corner we did not eat in the hotel, so we cannot comment on the restaurant or the breakfast. Overall we would recommend this hotel for a room only stay in Bolton centre but cannot offer a judgement on the food. Great value for money for room only.

Stayed here on a business trip. First of all, to people saying the views out the window/noise from outside etc, please remember this hotel is in the centre of Bolton...

The first impressions of the hotel are from the car park, which aren't great. You have two options - the first is an underground car park. It really is small and there is no room to manoeuvre. If there is no space, you have to reverse back out. If you do get a space watch out for the low roof when opening your boot. Your second car park option is the open air one, which again is small and the only spaces available when I was there were littered with broken glass.

Anyway, you're not sleeping in the car park so enough of that. Check in was easy and done in about 30 seconds. Lifts and stairs are available. I tried using the lift twice and on both occasions the doors kept opening so I got back out and used the stairs.

The room was comfortable and I like the choice of pillows, it's a good little touch of Holiday Inn you don't get even in some really upmarket hotels. The bathroom was clean and the shower was powerful and simple to use, a novelty!

Breakfast was good, a nice selection and it seemed fresh. The service was good at breakfast. Check out simple, 30 second process again. I was working in the town centre and it was about a 3 minute walk away so it's an ideal location. I would stay again.

Stayed here recently and the staff could do no more for us! What a great team the hotel has. Rooms are spacious - stayed in a standard room which has all the facilities for a short break. Breakfast was delicious and hot (which is very rare for hotels). Ate in the restaurant for dinner and was served by Hannah, who went out of her way with our table. Hotel is conveniently located and idea for visiting Manchester. The health club/swimming pool is also a bonus. Free car parking too. Right in the town centre, next to a large shopping centre. Will be back soon!

Got a great rate. Spacious rooms. Clean. 2 mins walk into town centre. Short drive to the Reebok to watch the Wanderers or you can take the train. Give Bolton town centre a wide berth on Saturday nights.

We regularly stay at this hotel and booked in for a Saturday night on March 23 2012. The staff were all, without exception, friendly, cheerful and helpful. Although the rooms are standard fare there was a large basket with bath robes, slippers, kit Kat, orange juice and four bottles of water. There was also a voucher for a free bottle of wine and free Internet access. Compared to 4 star hotels I have stayed in across Australia last month this one wins hands down. The breakfast, which should be booked the night before to get a price reduction was as good as any other hotel, again very helpful staff waiting table. I really can't recommend this hotel too highly.

The high spot of our visit was the warm Lancashire welcome. I expect to be in the area again soon and will definitely use this hotel.

I stayed here while on business. I was allocated a room on the 3rd floor which was an executive room. The room was OK but I found the temperature was very warm. I tried to change the temperature on the air con system but it didn’t help, in the end I had to open the window, which wasn’t ideal as I was staying in February.
The reception staff where helpful especially when I need directions to other places in Bolton.
Overall I would recommend especially if you need to be in the centre of Bolton

We stayed at the Hotel for 3 nights, we got a great price 20.12 per night, room was on the 4th floor was very spacious the furniture was a bit dated but it was clean, we didnt eat at Hotel so cant comment on resturuant. The gym was small but fine so was the pool, staff were fine no problems, except for some reason they held 75 pounds from my debt card for a couple of days, overall would stay again if I got a deal would not pay full price.

I stayed here recently as I have family who have just moved to Bolton. On arrival the receptionist was pleasant and very helpful, I explained that I had heard that the surrounding area was noisy and that I would prefer a quiet room and was given room 226 which I found to be just fine, and in all honesty didn't hear anything all night. I had room service which was delivered quickly and was quite nice (room for improvement) but i still enjoyed it. The rooms are a little dated but comfortable and clean. In the morning breakfast was good the restaurant staff made us tea and coffee. Check out was good and I signed up to Priority club which is a must if you stay at holiday inn's and crowne plaza's often! Overall I had a lovely stay, If i was to suggest room for improvement it would be the TV and channels they need updating maybe a modern TV and more channels to choose from bring back sky!

Great if you need to be near town centre - without actually feeling as if you are in a town centre. Breakfast 'rules' pre-pay for discount very complicated. Problem arose because we booked via a 'third party' i.e. expedia so we were offered a twin or a 'smoking' double - a supervisor then came and sorted us a nice double room. Generally, though this hotel was fine.

A comfortable, friendly place to stay that was not over priced. We did not eat here so cannot comment on the dining experience. A few of the areas are a little 'tired' but overall was clean. Just one gripe, the male changing rooms in the pool area were not that clean, there wasn't any hand soap; the area would benefit from a deep clean. Would stay here again.

I stayed here with colleagues. The Hotel is outside of the nice victorian centre and the surrounding area looks a bit run down but its just a short walk to the nicer part of the town. I explained at check in that I was concerned that the trip advisor reviews were very mixed and so was allocated room 317 which was an executive room. The room was just OK with a comfortable bed but the bathroom was'nt that clean (long black hairs in the bath) and had an overall grubby feel to it. The room was at the back of the hotel so was nice and quiet. Breakfast is buffet style which isnt to my taste as food always looks very sorry for itself sat under heat lamps but the staff greeted me with a very warm welcome and offered me poached eggs instead of the sad looking dried up fried ones on the buffet. We had dinner in the hotel on Valentines night and the meal was very good, I had the Lamb Rump which was perfectly cooked. My colleagues had some special dietary requirements which were met gladly. However, it took a very long time to arrive and so the pace of service spoilt it for me and the food wasnt that hot. It wasnt busy at all. Eventually we had finished the set menu which was good overall. They gave us some complimentary cupcakes which was a nice touch but it was so late by then that we didnt want them. A previous guest had filled up the sparkling water in the mini bar with tap water, I called reception and got a very speedy replacement with profuse apologies and some complimentary orange juice. This could be a really good hotel if it was brought up to date with some investment by Holiday Inn, the staff offer a very warm and genuine Lancashire welcome which is worth a lot nowadays. Free parking is a bonus. There is a gym but I didnt get round to using it. Overall I would reccommend

Staff were very friendly and pleasant. Pay tv did not work properly in our room but the staff offered for us to change room and they made sure no charges were put onto our account for movies we didnt watch. We ordered room service which arrived hot and in great time. Food was very tasty was was not over expensive. Room was small and cosy but bathroom was a little small and bath was a bit dated. There was a function on at hotel and music could be heard but not to the point of spoiling our night. Over all me and my husband had a comfortable night and would go back again. Can not fault the staff at all. Recommend for a cosy night in or a place to stay if going out in bolton. Thank you very much.

The outside is an 80's classic, for all the wrong reasons.

The service is slow as they do not have enough staff on, the staff there are as polite as they can be given the queues that form. Check in and out took some time.

Rooms, clean as possible in general but as they are old and musty and the carpet is a bit crisp in places. Breakfast was quite good so a redeeming feature. I should have driven into the centre of Manchester and stayed at the Crowne for £12 more.

Close to the centre of town and a good range of shops nearby if you need anything.
Narrow and twisty entry to car park mean larger vehicles should enter with care or take out their alloys.

Easy parking in the centre of Bolton so easy access to shops/pubs and restaurants etc. The staff are are very friendly and helpful. TIP OF THE WEEK the point for electric shavers is under a liitle plastic flap in the hair dryer!!!. I did eventually find it after help from the Housekeeper!
Good Wetherspoons in the High Street..The Spinning Mule!

I recently stayed at this hotel when attending an event. The hotel is lovely, it is built around an old church. The room where the event was held was the old church with arches, high ceilings and atmosphere aplenty. I felt welcome as soon as arrived. The staff are very friendly and attentive, they couldn't do enough. The food was presented well and tasted great. The room was very comfortable, although a flat screen tv would give a modern feel. The room, restaurant and bar was very clean and I would certainly stay here again. It was really easy to find, and get to. Straight off the A666. Highly recommended.

When you go into your room, you find a pair of ear plugs and a note explaining that the central location means it can be noisy. I was a bit worried about this, especially as there seemed to be a function room under my window! Now, maybe at the weekend it is noisy, but I have to say I didn't hear anything all night (apart from the rain on the window, but you can't complain about that).

The room is quite comfortably furnished, the bed is comfy with a choice of pillows, there is a small fridge. I was pleased with the room for what was frankly a budget hotel room rate, but I did find the bathroom a bit grubby - and there was hair in the bath.

I didn't eat there, so can't comment on food - the hotel is just across the road from the shopping centre and I had breakfast in Starbucks. The staff were helpful with directions, getting cabs etc and were generally friendly.

What I liked:

* Good location near the shops (but still lovely and quiet)
* The budget room rate (cheaper than the Premier Inn that night I stayed)
* Comfy room

What I didn't like:
* Bathroom could have been cleaner
* Lighting was quite low, difficult to work.

I'd stay here again if I got the same good room rate.
