I stayed in room 409. Platinum Elite member in the IHG reward scheme. Had an early check-in and check-out as per benefits.
The hotel has benefitted from a much needed upgrade and the rooms are now really nice and modern, beds are exceptionally comfortable. The bathroom was modern but the shower wasn't very powerful.
In room WiFi was reliable and fast.
The hotel location is 5 minutes walk into the town centre and 10 minutes from the train/bus interchange.
Breakfast was ok, but could be further improved with offering smoked salmon, poached eggs and a gluten and wheat free selection like other Holiday Inn's. Coffee weak (has to use the Lyons coffee bags from the buffet)
I'd stay again if breakfast was better.

I never usually pick to stay in a holiday inn but i was pleasantly surprised. Small free car park on the side, really nice rooms and the breakfast choice was amazing. 2 min walk into town where there are plenty of shops and restaurants. The hotel was being refurbished when i was there so if you are on a night shift for work then it is noisy during the day.

Generally excellent experience. Good food, nice rooms. Most staff extremely accommodating and helpful. A couple of the bar staff were a little more interested in chatting amongst themselves meaning service git a little delayed, but only a minor niggle. A problem with a refund was dealt with quickly and efficiently.

Filled kettle with water for my cuppa and the water came out brown. There was marks on my towels that were brown had to change them.
Breakfast was good. But had to wait ages from them to bring outvextra bacon or any of the freshly cooked stuff and they only brought 2 fried eggs or pieces of bacon at a time so u was waiting again when someone also waiting grabbed them.

No dry white wine, no scotch egg starter ,, Asked for some mayonnaise ..they never fetched any ,, no pudd I asked for.. then forgot my other Pudding choice .. 😞

The staff were all very friendly, attentive and helpful. The cost was reasonable. The bed was comfortable.
I was in a King Size room but my bathroom was very small. Too small for the room size. Not much can be done about that however! The cooked breakfast was OK.

So close, yet so far, for me. But still a great hotel
A very nice, great quality hotel. investing in updating the rooms which is always a good sign. Ample free underground parking which was great. Very comfortable stay.
Sadly the room I had shouldn’t have been bookable. it had recently been refurbished which is great but it was nowhere near finished. Holes in wall where the tv should be mounted, masking tape around fixtures, sealant in the sink and damage to the shower tray to name a few. This didn’t affect my stay but I shouldn’t have been booked into the room. When I informed the staff I half expected some kind of compensation or discount but sadly it wasn’t offered but isn’t the end of the world. This really let the stay down for me but shouldn’t put others off booking here.

Sadly the rooms have been remodelled and therefore it difficult to use the toilets in most bathrooms. There a lack of space to manovore.

the biggest disappointment has nothing to do with the property but the town center itself.

the only thing that let the hotels look and feel down, is the antiquated aged looking awning and signage. otherwise, if I was on business in Bolton again I would stay there.

We stayed for two nights in what was supposed to be a room with two single beds but on arrival was told they only had a double bed room so being father and daughter of I went to sainsburys to buy a double duvet for the floor.
Next morning we where leaving our room and bumped into a cleaner. Really friendly lovely lass ( sorry can't remember name but needs a spot prize or something) she asked how things where, I explained the situation and that's when the customer service ramped up, she explained but didn't promise to try and get a fold out bed. I said it doesn't matter but she insisted. So off we went to Blackpool. Returned at night to not only find a camp bed ( which was really comfortable) but a selection of biscuits and hot chocolate, water nice touch holiday inn.
Mint nights sleep, clean tidy rooms with plenty of room.
Checked out the next morning walked to spoons for breakfast to realise I'd left a tshirt in the wardrobe, the house keeping sorted it.
Overall I'd be quite happy to stay here again x
