Very nice stay, wonderfully helpful staff. I am here with three teenagers with ASD and everyone has been very good. Lydia in the dining room and the blonde receptionist with the accent were particularly helpful.

Our room was lovely but was let down by some of the staff being rude and unhelpful, and the food wasn’t very good, it was very dry and the drinks were very expensive

Recently stopped here as part of a Christmas function. Really enjoyed the stay. Staff were friendly. The hotel itself is an older building with a modern 1980s extension. The bar area I found to be very nice and particularly liked the glass foyer which brought natural light into the building and was a nice place to sit. Rooms were comfortable, and warm. Breakfast was superb with a good choice and particularly the coffee which was one of the nicest I have had in any hotel. As others have said there is a need for better maintenance- I could see that some improvements have already been made and much of the carpet looked newly laid and the laminated bed head in the room also looked a new addition and was smart. Some items I noticed needed attention were around general upkeep and decoration; for instance there was a broken light near the rear steps to the car park, a trouser press had been removed from the room but left tatty holes and electrical outlets in the built in wardrobe and there was a rotten pile of decking timber on the flat roof outside the bedroom window which looked unsightly. I hope that the management continue a programme of upgrading as the building is deserving of it and the hotel could really be very pleasant with a bit more attention

Really good hotel but a little dated in areas. We had a privilege room and it has a comfy king size bed and a separate seating area with 2 bucket chairs and a 2 seater sofa. Special shout out to Irene who looked after us in the bar when we arrived.

We enjoyed to visit the hotel. On the arrival Sheila and Claire were very welcoming, professional and quick on check-in and check-out. Zowie, Asha and Irene at the bar were very kind and helpful. The leisure facilities are a good add to the hotel. Kelly and Chris were very nice and attentive. We really enjoy the jacuzzi and the swimming pool area.
At night we needed help with the room keys, Lee and Troy were very helpful and pleasant. We will definitely be back. Thank you to all the team for the support.

Warm and friendly staff who seemed to work long hours and still manage a smile. Special thanks to Lydia and Meg who made our breakfast despite us being so close to the cut off time as we hadn't read the timings properly!
The gym, communal areas and the bathrooms are in need of some modernisation as a little dated but everywhere very clean regardless.

I knew before I booked that there were mixed reviews. For the 3 aspects that influenced my booking (bath and shower, room with twin beds and a decent breakfast) I would rate as Very Good. Ample free parking is also a great plus point. The friendliness of the lovely lady at reception, the cleaning operatives and the breakfast team was also a real bonus. Now for the things that detract from the excellent staff and the good facilities....The entrance road is not very well lit so we missed the turn off. We reported that one of the bulbs needed replacing in the light above one of the beds: apparently maintenance have to change lightbulbs and they are only there Mon-Friday 9-5. There were a lot of dead flies on the windowsill and I spotted two live ones that I dealt with. I managed to locate and block off the source of the flies (a gap in the wall behind the headboard) so didn't bother reporting. On the Friday night there was a Christmas Party night. I would have been OK if it hadn't gone on until 1am which seems very late to put up with loud music. I would go back but I would know in future to ask if they have any function bookings and what time the music will stop. The pool area is very dated and quite creepy - if there hadn't been some kids having swimming lessons I doubt I would have hung around! And finally on the Saturday night there was two busloads of very anti-social children rampaging through the hotel (playing football in the corridors). They were so noisy I couldn't read in the bath so bailed out and rang reception. When nothing happened I got dressed and as I was walking up the corridor to ask the children to stop being a nuisance two "responsible" adults turned up. I'm saying nothing further but there needs to be some ground rules set for large groups of under 16 year olds.
