There are always dogs in need of homes as people are sometimes forced to give their beloved pets up for financial reasons. If you have the spare space, time and love to offer a dog adoption into your home, there are literally hundreds of pooches who need caring, kind, loving families at the moment.

Here’s a small selection of Brighton's dog homes and rehoming centres, all of whom will be absolutely delighted to guide you through the process of taking on a new furry family member.

If you can’t adopt a dog yourself but you feel like helping, you can also donate money, equipment and time to the cause.

The RSPCA Brighton

The good old RSPCA is your first stop for all kinds of homeless animals, from reptiles to bunnies, birds, cats and dogs.

Brighton and Hove Retired Greyhound Trust

The BHRGT is dedicated to re-homing greyhounds successfully by matching exactly the right dog to exactly the right family. Greyhounds are loyal, loving, graceful and full of personality, altogether lovely doggie people.

Dogs Trust, Shoreham

The Dogs Trust is Britain’s biggest dog welfare charity. They’re heavily involved in outreach programmes, education, information, legislation and campaigning as well as offering all sorts of loyal, friendly dogs for rehoming. Visit their Shoreham rehoming centre and see. If you can’t adopt, you could simply enjoy taking the rescue dogs for walks, which they love!

Raystede Centre – Ringmer

The Raystede Centre is over Lewes way, just outside Ringmer and 25 minutes away from Brighton. If you’re looking for a dog to join your family there’s a wide variety of doggies wanting new homes and the charity’s friendly kennel team are available seven days a week to talk things through with you.

Allsorts dog rescue

Allsorts usually rehomes between 10 and 20 dogs a month and they always have smashing dogs available for loving homes. Like all good animal rehoming charities they are appropriately strict
about welfare and take great care to match the right dog with the right owner so everyone concerned is happy.
