It’s been another great week at the Brighthelm centre! The weather has been wonderful and lots has been happening in our lovely garden space. On Thursday we were officially declared a pesticide free zone by Pesticide Action UK and Brighton Breast Cancer Action, you can see the official event on our YouTube channel HERE and we now have a very fancy sign in our garden! Street Diner, the amazing weekly food market that happens in our (pesticide free!) garden, was also a huge success on Friday. Lots of people came to admire our community garden and try a range of tasty lunch time treats in the glorious sunshine!
Our café has also launched a fabulous offer where any cake and a hot drink can be purchased for £3- perfect for a tasty snack on warm summer days!
We’re also thrilled to be welcoming some new tenants to our fantastic performance room. Open Level Contemporary Dance Classes are being held for those aged sixteen and over, priced at £6.50 a class or £20 for 4, the class is running 7-8.30pm every Thursday - beginners are welcome!
The preschool have also been busy, with an exciting ‘Pirate day’ on Saturday and celebrating ‘Mud Day’ today! A range of engaging activities continue to take place, teaching valuable skills for when the children progress to their first year of school whilst making sure a fun and friendly environment is maintained!
As well as Brighthelm film club’s screening of Forrest Gump on Today July 7th (at 1pm), there will also be a screening of ‘Frisbee: the life and death of a hippy preacher’ a fascinating insight into the life of the 1970’s evangelist, Lorrie Frisbee, which will be shown on Sunday 26th of July at 7pm – doors from 6.30pm. This event is FREE! :) To join the event on facebook click HERE
Join us next week for the next instalment of our exciting weekly updates! Remember to come in and visit us at our wonderful café Monday – Friday 9-3, or have a look at our beautiful pesticide free garden anytime! Street Diner also runs every Friday 9- 2!
