So, I asked a business owner why he had come to see me this week and this was his answer.
"I am here because I want a car, a house, and a holiday.”
"That’s great," I replied.. "What’s that got to do with me?”
"Simple," came the answer. "My business doesn’t not work and I can’t have them"
"Ok", I said. "Let’s get started"
Inside of an hour I made that business owners life significantly better.
For us business owners, our businesses, and our lives are so inextricably linked you cannot tell one from the other.
We don’t get a wage if the business doesn’t work, so we don’t pay the mortgage (no house)
We don’t get a wage if the business doesn’t work, so we can’t buy a nice car (no car)
We don’t get a wage if the business doesn't work, so we can’t have a holiday (no life!)
And it gets worse… because for this guy even if it was working he was putting in so many hours he’d have no life anyway.
And yet so many of us carry on, and never take the time to change anything or do the things we need to do to make our lives better…we’d rather suffer and let our families suffer too.
Don’t be that business owner.
Be better.
It might just start with an MOT.
