It is almost always frustrating if not a little sad to see the boards go up on another empty premise in the local high street.
It has been and continues to be tough times for retail and service businesses in the current economic climate yet we all know that there is a place for great businesses that help bring variety and jobs to the locality not to mention a personal service that you cannot easily replicate on-line.
‘Buy Local Week 3rd – 9th June 2013’ is a campaign supported by The Best of Brighton and Hove. We are a local company which champions recommended independent businesses in the area for the benefit of local residents and businesses alike.
The core aim of the campaign is to remind people to do more for the area – a 'Buy Local' sticker in a window or car is one way however much more could be achieved for the local economy if we as a community increased our local spending by a small amount.
The campaign has the full support of Gerry Hussein – Managing Director of thebestof Brighton and Hove, “Brighton and Hove is blessed with more than it's fair share of distinctive and wonderful independent shops and businesses adding colour and variety to our localities, but we shouldn’t take them for granted. ‘Buy Local’ reminds us that they need the support both of residents and local policy makers to continue their contributions to life in our area."
