Cheap eats, great laughs, fab atmosphere. Sounds good? Krater Comedy Club (http://www.komedia.co.uk/brighton/krater/) at Komedia is my new favourite way to round off the weekend.
Running Thursday-Sunday, Krater is a chance for three or four comedians to show Brighton’s Komedia club what they’re made of. The lineups are well thought out, with a variety of comedic styles presented each night. No one was left disappointed on my visit!
Krater is brilliant value for those on a budget – student tickets are just £5 each! Amazing. For two and a half hours of quality entertainment that’s not bad at all. If you’re thinking of going for dinner beforehand, you could always grab a Komedia Meal-Deal ticket like I did for £20.50 and choose from a yummy range of main meals and platters. That way, you can enjoy the Komedia experience for even longer and don’t have to worry about timing your evening.
The club is set out ‘Cabaret style’ with small candlelit tables circling the stage and longer ones for larger groups toward the back. The bar service is great – cocktail pitchers seemed a favourite with the ladies! Komedia is well staffed and members of their security team are on hand at all times to handle any disruptions to proceedings, making for a comfortable evening where everyone’s having fun together.
My first visit to Krater was on a Sunday night, which is why I say it’s a great way to round off the weekend. The new Ipop club night (http://www.thebestof.co.uk/local/brighton-and-hove/events/341899/ipop) following the Saturday Krater show sounds good to me though – you can’t go wrong with pop and party anthems, and Krater ticket holders get in free. So next time I might take my dancing shoes.
