Heads up: Shoreham Airshow is back! The annual event is being held on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd August 2015 at Brighton City Airport (formerly known as Shoreham Airport). After the tremendous success of 2014’s 25th anniversary celebrations, which saw the annual event named ‘Best UK Family Airshow’ by Aeroplane Magazine, this year sees the 75th Anniversary of ‘The Battle of Britain’ set to be celebrated within every aspect of the weekend.
The family-friendly event invites both young and old to marvel at the epic Airfield Attack and Scramble Scenarios and awe-inspiring pyrotechnics during both daytime airshows on Saturday and Sunday. The high-flying event showcases aerial performances from over 50 types of aircrafts including appearances from the much-loved Avro Vulcan on each day.
Aside to the air displays, the airshow also provides plenty to see and do; from trade stands and craft tents, to the nostalgic funfair and one of the largest static aircraft displays- where you can meet and chat with the aircrew. In addition to the superb collection of aircraft, the ground show will boast an impressive selection of classic cars and military vehicles from individual owners as well as some of the best clubs in the country.
The volunteer-run event has seen in excess of £2million raised for the RAF since it’s inception 26 years ago and with it’s recognition as one of the best in the country, continues to grow in excellence with over 36,000 visitors in attendance last year alone. The airfields spectacular backdrop of the River Adur and surrounding valleys makes it the picture-perfect setting for a day out with the whole family. Here’s hoping for some good weather!
