Having been ardent festival goers for many a year we decided that it would be great to bring the talent home that we have discovered on the road to perform in our city. Blessed as we are with a proliferation of venues in Brighton it just remained to match the band concerned to the right sized arena.
One of our first discoveries was a roots / blues band that we first saw play in a pub in LA. No, not the Californian one but the Sussex locale Littlehampton. Our friend Nick was the then landlord and badgered us to go along and see this trio from Cornwall. So, in front of maybe 30 people we saw Wille and the Bandits for the first time.
Shortly after we booked them into the Brunswick where they went down a storm to a slightly less than capacity crowd. Next time around it was the Latest Music Bar where they sold it out!
This time around sees them at the larger Stcky Mikes Frog Bar on 27th October and all earlybird tickets have already gone so we look to be on the way to another sellout.
Another of our promotions was the exciting band Gabby Young and other Animals who we first saw at Beautiful Days then at Love Supreme. For those that were at The Old Market in February they saw a brilliant gig highlighted by Gabby's sensational voice and the sheer theatricality of the performance. Great night.
Our first act of the autumn is the blues trio from Bristol the Husky Tones. Victoria is the lead singer and drummer and they play a great line in original electric blues. This gig is part of their mini tour and we count ourselves lucky to have them playing at the Latest Music Bar on september 4th. Tickets are available at £ 5.00 in advance and £ 8.00 on the door.
Next up is Elles Bailey and her band. She is a talent destined to go far and this will be a rare chance to see this great blues singer before she goes on to bigger and better things. The tour is part of the promotion for her new EP and we have heard the tracks which are all great. Supporting Elles will be Chris Marsh displaying his percussive guitar playing and excellent singing of his own material. All this for £ 5.00 in advance and on the 9th October at the Latest Music Bar.
