Make friends, get advice, ask for recommendations and general banter. What's not to love about Brighton and Hove's local Facebook groups? Groups exist for everything from the thoroughly sensible to the utterly bizarre. Here are some of our favourites.
For serious local football fans, the Brighton and Hove Albion group for club supporters is a must if you love talking about the team and sharing your joy or despair with other supporters. It can be found at https://www.facebook.com/groups/4941458157/
If you're a Brighton resident who is embarking on a journey into the choppy waters of marathon running, there's a group for you with the Brighton Marathon Virgins 2018. It was created so people who were starting to train for marathons could share their experience and give each other tips and encouragement. Experienced marathon runners are welcome to. Find the Marathon Virgins here - https://www.facebook.com/groups/1296170703771893/
Rather roll than run? Then this is the group for you - Brighton Skate - Tuesday Night Street Skate. These folks meet up to skate every Tuesday, weather permitting. Join them here - https://www.facebook.com/groups/brightonstreetskate/
It seems a bit niche but there are actually over 4,000 members of the Pokemon Go Brighton group. These Pokemon chasers like to get together to lure the rarest Pokemon and even have separate groups for their different teams. Catch them all at - https://www.facebook.com/groups/BrightonPokemonGo/
Eating is most people's favourite hobby! This group is for people who love a good roast on a Sunday. It's the Brighton Sunday Roast Club and it's got over 7,000 members. Chow down at - https://www.facebook.com/groups/238405856195794/
Local history buffs can share their interest with nearly 35,000 other enthusiasts by joining the Brighton-Past group here - https://www.facebook.com/groups/176086192429776/about/
Pet owners, there are loads of groups for you. They range from the general Brighton Pets to the very specific Brighton Retired Greyhound Owners and includes Brighton Cat People. We assume the last one is for cat owners and not for people who dress up as cats.
Photographers also seem to like to form Facebook groups as there are plenty of those about including the Brighton Photographers Group here - https://www.facebook.com/groups/brightonphotographersgroup/
This politics based group sprung up after the 2015 general election when the whole of Sussex seemed to turn into Conservative constituencies apart from Brighton Pavillion and Hove which went to the Green and Labour respectively. The idea arose that Brighton and Hove should break free of the rest of the county to become an independent state and so the group The People's Republic of Brighton and Hove began - https://www.facebook.com/groups/1588038954800506/about/
When is a community group not a community group? When it's the Hanover Community Noticeboard. (that full stop at the end is important) There is a real Hanover Community Noticeboard which has all the usual stuff you'd expect but this isn't it. This is a joke group intended to take the micky out of people on the real Hanover noticeboard group. It sounds a bit mean but it's actually quite funny and you can find it here - https://www.facebook.com/groups/971532892914844/
There are so many brilliant Brighton Facebook groups out there so it's impossible to really do them justice here.
