My party of 5 ladies thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Village Bury. The theme night was lots of fun and we would definitely attend another. The upper deck rooms were clean with good facilities and comfortable beds. The pool and Jacuzzi were pleasant and the changing rooms were clean, although the lockers had seen better days, however we were advised these were due for an upgrade very soon.

Lovely cheap weekend away. The hotel had lots of facilities and only £4 in a taxi away from Bury centre. The swimming pool is great but very busy with kids at all times. BUT the biggest problem is NO mirror in the bedroom. Couldn't check out my clothes, couldn't straighten my hair and makeup was Marilyn Manson . There is a mirror in the bathroom but of course it's shoulder high only and straighteners or hair dryer would not reach and too far away to see makeup properly.

Very nice rooms and bathrooms albeit a bit on the compact side and too dark. Have breakfast at Tesco and watch price of some of the drinks. Overall a very pleasant stay. Very pleasant atmosphere in the hotel itself with pleasant staff.

It is a nice hotel, however the booking of a high school prom mid week in a hotel used heavily by corporate guests was a poor decision. Security put on did nothing despite receiving "about 70 complaints".

Because of this I would think very carefully about using the hotel in future, it just seemed so out of character with the image of the hotel, and how they were trying to perceive themselves. An aweful decision as I doubt such events drive much revenue....hense the week night but seriously, look after your core clientele!

Stayed over at this hotel for one night whilst visiting family. Would normally use Premier Inn in either Bury or Prestwich but we were seemingly late in booking and both these venues were full and so booked in at The Village thinking it would be a bit of a treat being double what we might expect to pay at the 'budget' hotels. The plus point is the location being handy for the M62/M66 motorways so not out of the way and easy to find. It has its leisure facilities should you wish to use them and ample parking for guests as well as leisure users. That said, the rest of the experience was not great. Reception staff were helpful and we received our room key to a Club room on 2nd floor. I guess this was designed and kitted out by a man. Decoration was dark and 'trendy' huge TV inc Sky reception. Nowhere to put bags except the floor to be tripped over. Hair dryer plug nowhere near mirror with poor lighting as well. The Bosch tassimo machine did not work and as ever, after showering, the bathroom is so steamed up it was impossible to get dry and the walls and mirror just streaming because of no extractor/ventilation. Nor was there any courtesy light in bathroom for use in nighttime when the facilities are pitch black. All in all we were quite disappointed. The bed was comfortable. However was awoken in the earlier hours with terrible heartburn- my meal was a chicken Cesar salad taken in the pub restaurant downstairs. I have never before had heartburn after a salad, have no idea what was in the dressing but needless to say I won't be eating there again should we forced by circumstance to return. Trust me a return booking will only be as a last resort. I must make clear that all the staff we had dealings with were perfectly pleasant and professional, I feel the hotel let them down.

We stayed for 2 nights this weekend. On the whole it was very good . A couple of problems with the fan and missing towels were answered almost immediately. Even though there was a function taking place we weren't troubled by it. We had a meal in the pub and that was good value. We didn't use the leisure facilities so can't comment on those.

Very disappointing as stayed here on numerous occasions and always had a good stay previously. Reduced personal touch with automated check in. Reduced food standard and lack of care on refurbishment to hotel in general.

Stayed here for a night, we were upgraded to a club room for free..
Very nice modern room with an amazing shower!
We didn't eat at the hotel but we used the pool...leisure facilities were good and the place was clean.
My only complaint is the very confusing corridors! Took us ages to find our room.. up and down and up and down in the lifts!
I will definitely be back!

We loved the colours and the bright room, added Dyson fan (which other hotel has one?), plenty of wall sockets and USB charging in the room. The bed was comfortable although it was two singles put together. Very good location to rest for visiting friends and family.

Lovely hotel with pleasant staff. The bed was comfy and our room was clean. The only downside was that food was too expensive, we ended up having to go to the pub across the road. Would definitely stay here again

I stay here a lot.
The recent refurb has injected some life back into what had become a but of a dive.

The club rooms are quite good.
The bar is very sports oriented.
The restaurant is not bad.
The hot tub seems to always be under maintenance.

Overall it's not bad for Bury. It wouldn't "wash its face" south of Watford but you should get a good nights sleep.

Having read various reviews here I was unsure what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised. Upgraded to Club room and gym access and both worth the extra money. Lovely big room / bed and shower. Gym a bit disappointing in that the main area closed for construction, which was not communicated upon paying extra amount, however the 3 areas open temporarily had all I needed (although air con would have been nice in CV room).

Dinner enjoyed last night too and all, again, very tasty and good price. With breakfast enjoyed today and poached eggs cooked up on last minute request perfectly. Final positive were the staff, all extremely professional and friendly.

I had the fish with chorizo sauce and oh my word it was amazing. Very generous portion, fish was cooked to perfection and the chorizos were the divine. The sauce was out of this work- so delicious. I will definitely be back for the dish. Nice coffee too.

I stayed in the Village Hotel, Bury for a month as a member of management within a sports team. We had a fantastic stay. Jodie Rogers and her team were very helpful and accommodated all our needs as soon as we requested.
The team room was good, enough space to have working areas for different team requirements and we were provided with meeting rooms when we requested.
The pool facilities were excellent for both athlete recovery and relaxation- clean and spacious.
Food was excellent. Staff were friendly at all times, despite working long hours.
Bedrooms were spacious and clean.
The staff in this hotel who dealt with us directly couldn't have done more to make our stay as smooth and enjoyable. Thank you all very much! .

We came for a
Friends wedding in Edenfield which was at 4pm. Checkin was from 3pm. We paid extra to be able to check in at 1pm and were informed that we
Couldn't as guest were refusing to leave from the night before!! Not very apologetic either. Rooms very noisy and you could hear running up and down corridors all night.

A very pleasant stay. Obviously it's a well used hotel, very busy, but the staff are on the ball -very friendly and helpful. It was very clean, some bits of furniture were worn, a bit chipped but comfortable overall. I would visit again if staying over in Bury again.

Used to stay here a lot a few years back, not much has changed (for the better)
Firstly, check in, look like the Village chain are trying to do away with the human touch, new system at the front desk to check in via a screen - doesn't work, after being told to queue for a spare screen, put in details and they were not accepted, so back to queue for a "human being" to check me in!
Hotel currently being refurbished, room stank of fresh paint, OK colour, but it is only a make over - windows are knackered, basics in room were sparse (would have been a much better review if there had been a 20p packet of biscuits to go with the coffee)
Bar is quite vibrant, restaurant is tired and dark.
As hotel has a gym, arrive between 5 - 6pm, you have to park 1-2 hundred yards away as gym members knick all the close parking (tip for gym members- park further away and use the walk as part of your fitness regime)

I stayed recently at the hotel for 3.5 weeks with a large group. The staff could not be more accommodating during this time. They were quick to react to any requests and ensured that our stay was as comfortable as possible. Jodie and her team were excellent and i would have no hesitation in going back.

Nice hotel good facilities. needs better security, as was woken up several times through the night by people knocking on our door, people arguing, shouting. Not nice when we have two little girls with us. And the lift was broken when we checked out also do not fun going down two flights of stairs with two little girls and all of our luggage! Other than that it was a nice stay, they just need to address the issue of drunks coming up from the bar downstairs.

On arrival we were greeted with a machine to check in. The girl on reception asked us to follow the instructions. Once we'd checked in, we asked if we were able to use the gym during our stay and told we could. We weren't however shown where it was or the direction of our room so we wandered about for a few minutes trying to find where to go, until someone stopped us to ask if we were ok and showed us the way.

The room was decorated lovely and the facilities in the room were great, however, there was a yellow stain on the shower floor and quite a few hairs too. I wasn't confident that it had been cleaned to a high standard.

When it came to bed time (around 2130) as soon as I walked into the room I could hear loud music. I really didn't know what was going on. I went to the phone to call reception, but there was no number for reception, only numbers for the other parts of the hotel. I went to bed and put earplugs in to try and block out the music, but I could still hear it clearly and could feel the bass through the bed. I resigned myself to the fact it could take a while to get off to sleep and was kept awake for some time. I managed to drift off and woke not long after to the music even louder than it was previously!!

In the morning we went down for breakfast. There was no-one to greet us at the restaurant after we waited for a good 5 minutes. I spoke to the girl on reception who said just to go through and there would be someone there to meet us. Went through and there was no one around that was obviously staff so we just went to find a table. Made our way up to the hotplate, where the food was swimming in grease. The scrambled egg was pasty white and tasted of nothing and there wasn't much else to choose from for a healthy breakfast.

After breakfast, we went to the front desk to check out. I asked the lady there, what the loud music was for as it was very disturbing. She said that it was for a prom. I said that I could still hear it through earplugs it was that loud and that I could feel the bass through the bed. And she said 'aww really. it was that loud?' No apology, no nothing.

If I had to stay here in future I would definitely ask if there are any big events going on that may disturb your sleep. If I'd known about the loud music I would have asked for a room as far away from it as possible, but this was not made known to me until it was too late. And even then I couldn't get in touch with Reception by phone.
