HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - SUBJECT TO A COUPLE OF ISSUES WITH THE HEALTH CLUB. Very difficult times as we were staying during the Christmas week in the middle of a serious Covid pandemic situation. In such trying circumstances we thought the hotel did a fantastic job looking after us. The staff on reception and at the breakfast bar (and also the cleaners) were absolutely superb. So helpful and friendly. Thank you. Our room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. The electric heater was really effective and the TV was very good. The showers in the health club were apalling. I trained in the gym 5 times and on each occasion there were empty drinks bottles on the floor inside the shower cubicle and the floor was mucky. On my final visit there was a plastic bottle and a chewed orange with all its peel on the floor inside the shower. Absolutely disgusting that anyone should think it is acceptable to do this in the first place but it seems clear the cleaning regime in this area was not up to scratch. I also found it disappointing that several gym members treat the sanitizer as their own personal belonging. On most of my visits it was often difficult to find a sanitizer as members were carrying them around from station to station. It is clear from the notice on the wall that there is a recognition this is happening so surely such selfish behavior should be stamped out.

Good Room 106 had empty food containers left in a drawer from the previous occipants, which left drawer dirty and smelly. cobwebs on ceiling, radiator was dirty with tea/coffee stains. Only 1 pillow each on the bed. No view out of room and it's too expensive for what we got. But I will stay again but want a room with a view. Stayed in September in room 126 and it was excellent and clean. Staff are always lovely and friendly.

We visited during tier 3 times. I downloaded the app and checked in via this. The lady on the desk was super helpful and activated a key card for me. We booked a slot to go swimming at the spa (incredibly unhelpful young girl on the desk who did not seem to know anything or simply care) for the following morning. We decided to eat elsewhere for the evening as the bar was super busy but on arrival back to our room found the noise levels next door to be very loud. Someone was playing extremely loud music and singing. I decided to go downstairs and ask to move rooms. The lovely lady with green hair kindly upgraded our room to a club room which she did not have to do nor did we expect this. The club room was much bigger with sky on TV, nicer showers & bigger beds. They are at the back of the building in a much quieter part of the hotel. I would highly recommend these rooms. Thank you village hotels - great service.

Wife's birthday, tier 3 lockdown, how can I make it special?.... I know, a little trip down the road for a nights stay at our local hotel. So glad we did! A break from the (new) norm for a night. From the moment we walked in, we were met with a big smile and help from a lovely lady at the check-in desk. With cleanliness now at the fore front of all our minds too, I was really happy that our room was actually spotless! We had booked a table at the bar&grill for 7pm, and even though we turned up 30 minutes late, the staff were still welcoming and happily showed us to our table. The steak was massive and the kids ate every bit of their kids meal! They loved that they were allowed to take the ice cream dessert pots back up to the bedroom too! Back upto the room with the ice cream and some popcorn... kids were happy, wife was happy. We all got a good nights sleep, and the mattresses were that comfy my Daughter even commented that she never wanted to get out of the "comfiest bed in the World!" The full English breakfast was brought to us on a tray in the restaurant with everything we could need. There were cocopops, croissants, yoghurts, toast, drinks and even jams for the kids too! To finish off our impromptu break away we enjoyed a family swim in the big pool. We got a locker and could use the family change with private rooms which had a shower in them too. All in all I'd highly recommend doing this as a treat. Who would have thought a simple night away in a hotel on our doorstep would bring such excitement! The kids loved it and it was a nice birthday surprise for my wife. The hotel was very clean throughout, the food was good, the bed was comfy, the staff were happy and helpful. We will definitely stay here again and recommend it to our family and friends!

Would stay again. Room well appointed, however hair dryer cable too short to dry hair whilst looking in mirror. Good job I always take my travel mirror with me! Longer cord on hair dryer or move mirror.
