Really glad I chose to learn with Louise at Toad's School after she had given my wife refresher lessons. Having only started learning at 31, driving had grown to be a big unknown challenge for me and I had no idea whether I'd feel comfortable with it. Louise was a brilliant instructor for me because from the start she helped me to feel confident. She was always very genuine and honest, and helped me build my assurance and push forward to take the next step each lesson. And lessons were always enjoyable with a good chat, too. Now I've passed, with 5 days to go before my wife is due to give birth, so I can get us to the hospital!

I made contact with Sue Papworth of TOAD School of Driving through a friend of mine who recommended her for training in gaining my B+E towing entitlement. From the first contact Sue was professional yet friendly and was able to find time within her schedule to offer an early initial assessment of my abilities and form a plan of attack towards my test. As a driver of 17 years it was a strange feeling to be back in the position of being taught to drive. However Sue was able to point out the common habits of drivers who have been driving for a long time and also identify the specific areas in which I had developed bad habits and help me correct them without being patronising or overly authoritative. She seemed able to adjust the content of the tuition on the fly to suit my specific requirements to keep practicing the areas I needed most to utilise our time together most efficiently. Everything that was likely to come up in the test was covered within the tuition and more, meaning that the test didn’t throw up anything which was unexpected or off-putting. Sue’s emphasis was very much on safety rather than just the pure criteria of passing the test which instils a confidence that the level in which she is training you to is not just the requirement for the test, but to a much higher standard. This meant that even if you felt you had made a slight mistake or error in judgement during the test, it was still well above the standard required. I can now understand how she gets such a high pass rate whether it is for standard car test or the B+E trailer test. Being in an enclosed space so close to someone for several hours requires a level of personality compatibility and Sue has a very pleasant demeanour with a great deal of patience too. She takes an interest in finding out more about you and keeps conversation interesting and relevant. She was able to address issues and point out areas for improvement in a very palatable manner without coming across as angry, annoyed, or apathetic which must be very difficult if you have spent over 10 years pointing out the same errors to people but somehow Sue manages to see you as the individual that you are and tailor to your own requirements. I certainly would recommend Sue and the TOAD School of Driving to anyone in the area looking to gain their towing entitlement or even those who already have it and wish to gain some confidence in their towing. It’s also had a massive effect on my general driving and I am noticing much more on the road allowing me to be safer, which is possibly a bigger thing to take away from my experience with TOAD than anything else.

Ben from Toad's school of driving has helped me passed my driving test in just 5 sessions. It is not the cheapest lessons available but I can tell you it is worth all the way. Car is clean and well-maintained. Ben is a very helpful coach and provides me with enough room to try things out on the road without too much intervention. I passed the test the first time.

I passed my test today which is thanks to the lessons I have had with Sue Papworth. When I had driving lessons before going to Toad's School of Driving I had been taught the test and not how to drive safely and be able to drive anywhere. However due to Sue Papworth's teaching I now drive confidently and safely. I would strongly recommend Sue Papworth as a driving instructor as she definitely goes the extra mile to make you a better and more confident driver.

Just a quick comment to say how fantastic Sue Papworth is from Toad School of Driving. Yesterday I passed my trailer test and I could not have done it without her. Even though I already had the basics, I was surprised at how much I needed to know to pass. She taught me to read the road and road signs, since nowadays we rely on SatNav it is amazing how little attention I realised I paid to the signs around me when driving (which is hind sights is a little unnerving). I now feel very confident when trailering and I am looking forward to a summer spent competing with my new freedom I could not have achieved without her help. I am more aware as a driver, so even my day to day driving is more confident. I have learnt so much from Sue and can not thank her enough. She has provided me with the knowledge and now the licence to trailer anywhere. With out her my dreams and ambitions could not have progressed. I am looking forward to a brilliant summer competing and it is all thanks to her. One in a million instructor and I wish I had found her when I was learning to drive. To anyone looking to take their car or trailer test, look no further then Sue Papworth. 1 million % recommended. Thank you xxxx

I originally took driving lessons (and failed 3 tests) almost 20 years ago. When I started learning with Sue, I was really nervous and hated the idea of getting behind the wheel. I thought it was going to be an awful experience, but I really enjoyed the lessons and gained confidence quickly. I would have no hesitation in recommending Toad's, especially if you've previously had a bad experience with driving lessons. Sue is an excellent teacher and she teaches you to drive safely and confidently by yourself, rather than just to get you through the driving test. From my very first lesson up until the moment I walked out to take my test, Sue has been calm, reassuring and has given me all the tools I need to drive safely. Highly recommended!

Absolutely fabulous service - I cannot recommend Sue highly enough for trailer test training. Not only does she offer a highly professional service, but also a friendly relaxed learning environment, with minimal pressure put on you to get it right the first time. Sue also gives invaluable information about remaining calm and keeping the nerves at bay during the test - I found her 'pep' talks really boosted my confidence and helped me to concentrate on my driving and all of the potential risks on the road, rather than worrying about having a stranger examining me. I will miss our lessons and drives out and about - thanks so much Sue!

I don't think there are any words kind enough to describe Sue Papworth! She has been a god send to me and has given me not only the life long skill of being able to drive safely in both the city and countryside but also more importantly how to deal with my nerves which i cannot thank her enough for! With Sue's excellent skills as a driving instructor who will always explain everything thoroughly and keep calm in all situations, i cannot recommend anyone more! The Toad's School of Driving team all have your best interests at heart and will stick with you until you pass, and even beyond! With the ability now to DRIVE as opposed to learnt test routes, i can honestly say i'm don't want to leave. Such a kind hearted women and out of this world teacher who i owe a lot too xxxxx

With Toad's school of driving I was able to learn how to drive safely, building skills and confidence while always feeling safe. Lessons focused on a range of realistic driving rather than test routes, providing good preparation for driving beyond the test. Driving on roads I had never seen before was the norm! Sue, my instructor, was patient and calm throughout my lessons and even organised a lesson during which I drove to the coast (two hours away) with my fiancée, had lunch and drove back. I would highly recommend!

My experience with Toad's School of Driving was great! My instructor Louise was fab, I can't think of a negative thing to say about her. She is really professional whilst also making learning to drive fun. She is also really flexible with timings which is great, often able to pick me up from home or school and drop off at either and what's more shoe got me through my practical first time!! So happy I picked to drive with Toad and Louise :)

Honestly the best driving school you can ever go to! From starting as a driver who never wanted to drive ever again after my first lesson, I have just passed my driving test 5 months later. Sue is the sweetest driving instructor and is so calm and kind when I was learning. I could not have chosen a better driving instructor and hugely recommended her! Huge thanks once again!

Well what can I say, as a parent.. Sue was absolutely brilliant.. she was extremely patient, had total trust from my son. This was after his first lesson and never wanting to drive again. He has just passed with flying colours and cannot thank Sue enough. If you are choosing a driving school I suggest you look no further.

I've thoroughly enjoyed learning to drive with Sue from Toad's school of driving. She is friendly and patient, and really helps you to feel relaxed while driving. I wasn't that keen on learning to drive, and had given up after only a few lessons with another instructor, but Sue helped me to regain confidence and pass first time! Sue always emphasises that driving lessons should teach you how to drive safely in novel situations throughout the rest of your life, and not just to drive round and round test routes. I'm sure that all Sue's drivers will pass their tests feeling safe and confident about driving in the real world.

As a 40+ year old lady learning to drive after so many years of being a passenger & using public transport was quite a step. I tried another driving school & had a terrible experience, enough to put me off. I was recommended to try Toad School by a friend & after a long conversation with Sue I decided to give it another go. She ehlped me conquer my nerves, explained everything in a way that actually made sense & made the whole experience highly enjoyable and fun, even when I found it stressful. Although I learnt with Sue I met & drove with some of the other instructors including Ben & Nicola who were also just as warm, patient & friendly. It took me a while but I am delighted (& surprised) to say I passed first time! I'm incredibly glad that Toad School was recommended to me & am very happy to do the same.

Sue, Ben, and the rest of the team at Toad's are fantastic. They are calm, patient, friendly, and most importantly, teach you how to drive. Not just pass. Drive. I wanted to write more and wax lyrical about how good they are, but with 350 five star reviews already, I think you get the picture...

A sublime driving school. I was confident with them from the very first lesson, 6 months ago. The lessons are a little more expensive than some driving schools, but worth every penny. You get the great lessons you pay for! I passed my theory test first time, my practical is booked for early next month. Ben gives plenty of feedback, he taught me to be a safe and confident driver while keeping lessons enjoyable.

I started driving in September with Nicola and so far every lesson has been informative, well supported and enjoyable. Even before we went on the road extra support was offered in the form of a few sessions on starter sessions on a nearby farm track, which hugely helped to build my confidence before learning on the road. Two of my siblings have been lucky enough to have been taught by toad and are both confident drivers, so I have a great deal of faith in the standard of the teaching at Toad. Thank you!
