We recently stayed at the Afton only for one night because it was booked up (with everybody else) and we have dogs so it made it doubly difficult, well we found The Afton on the internet and phoned up and a lady who took the booking was charming and very helpful, we turned up with our dogs and were welcomed by Luke who i have to say was a joy !!!!, so polite and so helpful that we immediately felt at home, great relaxing area, bar and entertainment in the evening, room was large with a balcony, good sized bed and clean throughout, we were chuffed !!!.....Breakfast had lovely fruit, cereals and anything you wanted from a full english,......although i have to say the lady who served it up was not the most warm individual and she made it a little uncomfortable when taking the order and serving up, perhaps a smile would help but that did not happen......so apart from a smile we would thoroughly recommend The Afton Hotel, great rates, great staff, about 60 seconds walk to the pier, we had a lovely time and will definitely be back !!!!...Thank you Luke and all the staff !!!!

this hotel is a fantastic place to stay in eastbourne , rooms are clean and tidy my shower was just the job for a portly person like me [fat] could not fault the room at all in any respect easy to reach via the lift which was great as some hotels in this area have a million stairs !!! ....moving on, the staff again fantastic and very friendly, the manager [luke] one of the nicest and helpful people i have ever met in the many many hotels i have stayed in anywhere [was offered a beer on arrival] great stuff, this hotel sells real ale , what a bonus , i cannot comment on the food as i did not visit the restaurant ....overall, fantastic place to stay in a great location will be back soon...5+++++++++++

My Brother and have just returned home after staying at the Sefton Hotel on an Edwards Coach Holiday. After reading some of the reviews I was a little worried what to expect but our stay was most enjoyable. We could find nothing wrong with the hotel and the food was excellent. The Manager Luke was very friendly, as were all the staff especially Steven and the new recruit Chloe in the dining room. The Hotel is ideally situated close to the pier and the town, the evening entertainment was good although not too many people participated. Thank you for a lovely holiday. We have stayed at the Afton Hotel many times and have always enjoyed it. our room was on the front with a balcony. The food is good and staff are very friendly. There is a good tea room on the pier were I celebrated my birthday with a cream tea.

Although the decor is a bit dated and tired (refurbishments are being carried out) it was clean and comfortable, an enjoyable stay. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and food good. Very good value will definitely use again.

We have just returned from a weekend break, extremely reasonable. Very friendly staff, all of them! A minor moan, we thought the hour for breakfast 8-9 a bit brutal but I think this may be different in peak times. Rooms are a little dated but were clean, spotless in fact. All in all a lovely stay and will return.

This hotel is very reasonably priced for the rates. The staff are very polite and ready to go the extra mile. The food is very good, and the restaurant staff are very good. Entertainment every night, but if you don't want to be too near, there are pleasant comfortable
Ittle rooms looking facing towards the pier. Reasonable prices for drinks.
Just 2 comments that need reviewing are 1. The coffee machine was not working, however that is being taken care of. There is a very pleasant new manager who is onto things that need attention i.e. high level an low level dusting in the rooms. However. On the surface they are satisfactory clean. Beds comfortable, clean bathrooms, good showers. I recommend this hotel

Visited the Afton Hotel with a party of 35 older people 17th April to 21st April. What lovely friendly staff, they made us so welcome, the food was great and a brilliant time was had by all. Everyone joined in with the bingo and dancing at night. The hotel is positioned in an enviable spot just off the sea front, with stunning views of the sea, and close enough to the shops and gardens for those not so good on their feet.

Had a lovely weekend at the afton over easter, room very clean though some parts good do with a bit of re decoration in some areas, we have been here many times and always enjoyed it the only thing we found different was the evening, it seemed very subdued no one seemed to want to join in anything normally everybody would be ip dancind or playing bingo but no one seemed interested i felt sorry for the compare he was really struggling to get people motivated normally this is not a problem here, breakfast was very good we noticed that a lot of familiar faces have gone i hope this wont affect the running of the hotel, but all in all another lovely stay

Stayed here over Easter with Edwards Tours, and although our trip was very well organised with a very good driver, and some lovely excursions, the Hotel needs a facelift. Our Rooms were clean with fresh bedding and towels , but judging by the amount of dust on one of the light fixtures and on the skirting boards, hasn,t had a deep clean for a while. The furniture is chipped and dated with some very dubious looking stains, and carpets are old and need replacing. In fact we returned from one trip to find my mothers room hadn't been serviced at all, and we were met with unmade beds and full bins, We did complain to the manager, who was very apologetic and gave us a complimentary drink, all very well but housekeeping is dire and needs an overhaul. Food was ok but you were limited on choices, and this was even worse for childrens meals, and they could only offer chicken nuggets or fish coujons, difficult as we had my granddaughter with us. Our waitress was very nice though and served us quickly and efficiently .Also on return I realised that I had left an item of clothing behind, hanging on the back of the bathroom door, I rang the hotel and spoke to the manager, who took my number and said he would ring me back ......I am still waiting. Lessons in customer service needed here I think. All in all a good holiday because of the efficiency of Edwards and some lovely excursions, but I don't think we would return unless some vast improvements are made.

I stayed with my husband & our 3 children for 2 nights, we've been given a spacious family room with a good size bunk bed & a double comfy bed.

The staff and the management were very friendly, helpful & the service was spot on, the location is really amazing overlooking the seafront & opposite the pier.

The bar is reasonably priced with a wide selection of drinks.

We'll definitely come back again :)

corridors area bit narrow and plain. .. bar is very good... and there is a good large dance floor, far bigger than most hotels of this nature.. top marks. well done The Afton.

We got here Friday the 25th at 1800 and had a very warm Greeting by assistant manageress. So full of knowledge and genuine warmth and directions to the room .
The room was fantastic with a view of the pier and the seafront . The room was of a good size with great choice of tea coffee and even hot chocolate and milks which were replenished each day and towels were also.

We've stayed here a few times before and as usual still friendly staff , dog friendly , comfy bed , clean and tidy , and good breakfast , bit dated but for the location opposite and the pier with good eateries a street away you can't knock it . We always have a room overlooking the pier this time no balcony but still a lovely view . Definitely go back next yr .

We come down to visit family and found this nice hotel, it was close to Christmas and had a few parties going on in the hotel/restaurant but it wasn’t as bad as it could have been, we checked in to the hotel, receptionist was very nice and chatty, the room was basic but functional, it’s not the Hilton but just what we needed, we had a quick drink in the bar prices not over the top.

breakfast was good we had it two days and no complaints.

Very clean hotel. Good quality bed linen and towels. Very comfortable beds. Had room 116 which had a balcony which would have been lovely in the summer. Nice bar at good prices and friendly staff. Breakfast very basic and small portions but it was expected for the cheap price of the room. Very central hotel opposie the pier and near restaurants.

This hotel is in an excellent hotel set just back from the sea front and opposite Eastbourne pier. It is within easy walking distance of the town center and many restaurants. I have only ever stayed in a single room but this has always been clean with a comfortable bed. The overall decor of the rooms is dated, however at the price charged this is good value for money. A kettle and television is provided in the room and the windows open for fresh sea air. The staff are always friendly and the hotel bar serves real ale (Harveys of Lewes)

Fabulous weekend with 66 older people from London. The staff were so accommodating and it felt like home from home. The food was great and varied and the entertainment really good . Excellent value and highly recommend it especially for group holidays.
Location ideal.

Location good, staff were not particularly welcoming on arrival and some looked rough at breakfast. Breakfast was ok, sausages overcooked and mushrooms tinned and watery. Rooms basic to say the least and the hotel looks tire in general internally. No milk or teabags in the room just cheap coffee sachets. Maids came round at 8am to clean rooms and were knocking on doors, toilet seat not properly secured in one room and toilet pedistool loose in other room. Bedrooms dirty in places and bedding cheap. Over all very dissapointing.
