Nice clean, friendly hotel in a good location opposite the beach and pier.
I will definitely use again for a weekend away.
It's better to book the rooms on the top floor for less from the street and music in the bar.

The Afton is well placed on the front opposite the pier and not far from the town centre. It is very clean and comfortable, and the staff make you feel at home and are very friendly. The food is very good. An all round good hotel, will visit again. Thanks go to Edwards Coaches for the organisation of this holiday.

Stayed here bank holiday weekend. Staff are all friendly and helpful. We had a problem with the shower in our room, no drama, they moved us straight to another room. Very professional. Breakfast was adequate fruit, cereal, full breakfast was lovely. Used the bar and prices were reasonable. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Eastbourne it's a lovely place to stay.

Enjoyed a wonderful three course meal in the Hotel that evening as well as well thought out breakfasts.
Staff are on the ball with regards to attention to detail and made mine and my families stay exceptional.

Two friends and myself visited Eastbourne this weekend at stayed a the Afton Hotel. We were picked up close to home by Opal travel and had a pleasant journey to Eastbourne. The hotel staff at the Afton were extremely polite and pleasant and could not have been more helpful on our arrival and throughout our stay. Our rooms were extremely clean and tidy and myself and a friend shared a double twin bedded room looking out to the sea. Food and entertainment were most enjoyable as was Eastbourne. We would all certainly like to go again and would be more than happy to stay at the Afton again. Eileen and Friends

Spent a few days at the Afton Hotel and had a thoroughly enjoyable time. Good bedroom overlooking the pier and the sea. Good breakfast and dinner with a good variety of food. Rare to find acceptable ale in a hotel bar and pleased to find Harveys, brewed at nearby Lewes. Hope to visit the Afton again.

we went on jones coaches , was picked up at 7.45 on a Monday morning by a feeder coach and didn't know what to expect of Eastbourne ,as we have never been to that area of Britain before. it was a real great and relaxing journey and arrived approx. 4.00 in the afternoon. we had a ground floor room ,that was so comfortable. it was a double room, with a bath.,tv and coffee and tea facility making and had drinking choc on a tray. the staff are so very friendly and helpful. breakfast was at 8.00 and dinner was at 6.3o.the food was excellent. entertainment was excellent. there is a lift to all floors and a few steps to enter the hotel, if you are disabled talk to the manger and they will do all they can to help you ( this hotel has applied to the council to make a disabled entrance and the council are making it hard for them to do this, which is so wrong) the hotel does have an understanding with a local disabled firm and if you ask the night before you can order a disabled bike at a charge of £15 a day. which is recommended if you want to go round the town. there's lots to do in the area you can visit brighton or hastings which are just up the road. the hotel is just over the road from the pier and a nice walk along the prom . if going in your own car do not park next to the hotel as it is resident parking only. the tarrifs of this hotel I found are very reasonable.

We came to Eastbourne to attend a special party event and needed to find accommodation for the night. We couldn't have chosen a cleaner hotel and the location opposite the pier is so convenient. The staff were really friendly and helpful and we even met the owners! The breakfast was lovely, particularly the bacon.

The food was excellent with lovely menu and plenty for everyone. and the wine was excellent. The evening buffet was also excellent and there was a good selection and again plenty of food.We can,t thank Jason enough for all he done to make my wedding day so lovely and special.I only wish we could have spent the night here as honeymoon hotel was a bit of let down as had a lot to live up to.I would recommend this hotel to anyone planning to hold a special occasion as it is good value for money and has fantastic staff and the venue is lovely and clean

I needed a hotel in Eastbourne for 1 night in February. Was on a budget. Booked a single room for £30 B&B. Got to hotel efficient and friendly check in. Room 101 had twin beds, was freshly decorated and was very clean. Furniture was a bit ordinary and cheap looking but was in good condition. Pleanty desk space for lap top. Good clean modern bathroom with good shower. soap but no shampoos etc. Reception helpful about restaurants nearby. Hotel caters for coach parties and had one in being entertained by a singer when I came back in the evening. Hotel bar OK.
Very good breakfast with waitress service in the basement dining room. EXCELLENT VALUE>

We recently attended a meeting held at the Afton Hotel. We immediately felt welcome and the atmosphere was very relaxed. The staff were friendly and very helpful, and we were impressed by the beautiful fresh flowers displayed which gave off a magnificent scent. I look forward to our next meeting at this venue.

Myself and 15 friends stayed at the Afton Hotel 24th-26th January for a weekend away in Eastbourne to meet up with some family and friends. What a great hotel to stay at and i couldn't believe it's only a 2 star!!! It's yards from the seafront and pier, very central, what a superb location. The staff were fantastic, all very friendly and helpful. Jason and everyone looked after us the whole weekend. Very clean, the rooms were suberb, breakfast was excellent and the bar area was great to sit in and enjoy a drink. All of the group thought the same as myself and we got a great deal for the weekend as well. Would not hesitate to recommend the Afton Hotel to others and will certainly be back down to stay. Great place!!!!!!

76 Coventry CHA Rambling Club members enjoyed a five nights, attractively priced stay at this excellent hotel in January 2014. Everyone agreed their bedrooms were nicely furnished and warm with plenty of hot water in their bathrooms. All too often in some hotels we have stayed in some of our members have enjoyed plenty of hot water whilst others have had just a trickle. The public rooms were also nicely furnished, clean and warm. We were very pleased with the food. There was a reasonable selection on the menu for breakfast and dinner. It was served fresh and hot, with none of our large party having to wait for their food thanks to the efficient waiters. They even set aside a room with buckets and brushes to clean our muddy boots with; it was just one of the many things the hotel did to make our stay as welcome and as friendly as possible. We can recommend this well run hotel to any rambling group looking to stay in Eastbourne. Brian Keates, Honorary Secretary.

Having stayed at the Afton over many years for conference social weekends it never fails to live up to expectations and has been updated over the years. As most of our party (of 70 +) are visually impaired the staff are always extremely helpful. Situated almost opposite the pier it is in an ideal location and is open to non-residents. There is a ballroom and bar with inexpensive drinks and does have a separate 'quiet' sitting area. The food is average but equates to hotel tariff. Rooms vary in size so suitable for couples or families and are quite comfortable. Hotel is very dog friendly (for well behaved dogs).
We look forward to returning in November with guide dog.

Having my Christmas party at the Afton Hotel and wanting to enjoy it with a few festive drinks I thought I would take advantage of staying overnight. I have used the Afton Hotel on many occasions for my events over the years but never had a need for staying over. After checking in I found my room which was nice enough. The wall art was a beautiful shot of the pier. I had a few hours before my guests were due to arrive so lay on the bed and watched some TV (a reasonable size TV with a simple enough remote). I have to say the bed was much more comfortable than I expected hence falling asleep and nearly missing my party! Whenever I travel I normally opt for a Premier Travel Inn but safely say that the bed I had at the Afton Hotel offered me just as good a night sleep (not aided by Alcohol at all) I know most of the staff well but they were just as friendly as always. Everything for the evening went smoothly and to time. Pleased to see that drinks were not expensive. When at an event earlier in the year (in Solihull) I was disappointed at being charged £5 a pint where drinks at the Afton Hotel are not the normal hefty mark up you can get at hotels.

Having had several business trips to Eastbourne over the past year and having previously tried several other local hotels with mixed (often terrible experiences), I cannot recommend the Afton hotel enough. Clean rooms, exceptionally helpful and cheerful staff and very accomodating management have made each successive stay very pleasant. Situated on the front opposite the pier and close to all ammenities and shopping areas makes the location perfect. The rooms are of a good size and the housekeeping staff very friendly with a real 'happy to help' attitude. From the first stay, as a guest I was made to feel very welcome and it was nice to meet so many friendly acquaintances in the relaxed bar areas and over the well provided breakfasts and dinners. To sum up: The Afton is a gem of a hotel with a great 'family run' feel, where each guest is most certainly looked after - good facilities with a high level of cleanliness and friendliness! Highly recommended and thank you to all who made my stay so pleasurable and comfortable.
I look forward to visiting again in the future sometime (wirgmst)!!

Had a Christmas Party night. Food was very average. Staff did have a pleasant attitude though. Drinks not expensive. Overall Hotel appears not to have been updated for 30 years. Great lo9cation right on seafront though if staying overnight.
