We stayed 2 nights the room was basic the noise from the street and the pier kept us awake but that cant be helped no wifi in room which was disappointing as wanted to use laptop but there was some in lobby. My only complaint was the glasses were tiny wanted to have a drink when came back in eve but was more of a shot glass staff were all friendly . Breakfast was ok little small but is ok was asked if needed anything else ie more tea or toast but got given 3 triangles between 2 of us . Would definitely stay again

Stayed here for 2nigjts training in the local area. Hotel staff are pleasant and the hotel is dated but acceptable. Good position in the town Opposte the pier. Breakfast was basic but again it was a good value stay. Would stay here again but the on street parking is a pain.

My husband and I booked the Afton Hotel as a base whist we are exploring Eastbourne with the aim to move there. The location is right opposite the pier and central for most things. Parking along the front can sometimes be difficult but the hotel sells parking permits which costs £1 per day.
All the staff are pleasant and helpful. The lady on reception doubles up as bar staff and works very hard. The young man who took over from her was equally as good and dedicated to his work. The whole hotel is a little dated but is typically Victorian. Nevertheless, the hotel is clean and the décor adds to the charm.
Room overlooked the pier and the sun came flooding in every morning. Plenty of tea and coffee and hot shower. The bed was firm and comfortable.
There is a well stocked bar in the Reception area and lots of comfy sofas and chairs. I would have given 5 stars if the bar had remained open a little later than ten o'clock on Sunday!
Breakfast was perfectly adequate with cereals, full English, toast and tea or coffee.
On checking out we chatted with the owner Hany who was able to give us lots of tips of where to look for property in Eastbourne . Very helpful indeed.
All in all the stay at this hotel was better than I imagined it would be considering what we paid. Will definitely stay there again.

The staff was very very nice. The location is absolutely amazing, just next to the pier and you've got a great view on the sea. It is quite older (some renovation would maybe be good) but a nice and cozy hotel.

This is the second time myself and my mum have stayed at the Afton Hotel. We took my daughter and her friend this time and had a lovely weekend. The room was clean with plenty of tea and coffee, a TV and a hot shower. I normally end up with a bad back when staying in hotels but this one was very comfortable.

The staff were lovely and couldn't do enough for you. The lady on reception who also worked behind the bar was polite and friendly. The lady who served breakfast (and also cleaned the rooms) was always happy and chatty and found it funny that the kids wanted to sit at a different table to us - nothing was a problem.

We will definitely be back.

Just back from 2 nights stay, we had a fabulous view right over the pier and sea and couldn't have asked for a better view. Yes, the hotel needs a bit of tlc, the water dribbled out of the shower and the bed was very hard (but that's personal preference) but, hubby and I wanted a last minute, cheap break and all we really wanted was a clean room, good breakfast and to be centrally located - we got all 3 of these with a bonus of a super view and very friendly, helpful staff. To be honest, at a price of £65 for both of us for 2 nights, including an alocoholic drink each, we didn't expect too much - our expectations were exceeded.

My boyfriend and I spent 4 nights here over valentines.
The hotel itself was ok, as was the room, it was quite dated and small but had a lovely balcony overlooking the pier. However, the bed was very uncomfortable and lumpy, and the pillows were thin and hard , perhaps that’s personal preference but I did not sleep well at all.
The room does not have double glazing so you can hear a lot of noise. I feel that as the building is fairly old that is not something that’s easily changed.
Parking was a bit of an issue but the hotel provides a permit for £1 a day so it’s quite a bargain.
The hotel and room were both clean apart from the toilet brush! The housekeepers came daily and we were well stocked in tea and coffee.
It’s in a fantastic location and close to everything so that was a plus.
Overall it was ok, I doubt I would go back . It was just too dated and tired for me . I do feel it’s value for money for some aspects especially the balcony, view and location.
It could do with some serious updating though were possible considering the age of the building.

The hotel is in a great location right on the seafront, helpful and welcoming reception staff. The facilities are basic but overall great value for money. The only down side was the poor breakfast service.

Very happy with entire experience at the Afton Hotel. Would definitely use again if visiting Eastbourne. Parking was the only hiccup as not always possible to park close to the hotel but was helped by the parking voucher provided for£1

I stayed for 4 nights. Great service from all staff. I left my phone charger in my room when I left yesterday and they said they would post it on to me. Excellent breakfast and when they have enough guests, they also offer evening meal.

No special frills, but I don't need a jacuzzi nor massage.

Booked a last minute stay and couldn't be happier with what we had and what we paid. Less than £30 for 2 adults, one night.

Location is brilliant, right opposite pier and parking outside cost £1. Short walk to shops and bars.

Our room was ground floor and although we were kinda under the stairs noise was minimal. We obviously could hear people walking up and down but as hotel was quiet it wasn't a problem. Room was big and really clean. Beds weren't so comfortable but there's nothing like your own bed anyway and for one or 2 nights it would be fine.

Gutted that pier wasn't open in evening as wanted to go to jazz bar for dinner and drinks but that wasn't hotels fault.

Would recommend and will definitely stay again.

The Location is perfect , right opp the Pier and just 5mins walk from town centre .The room was large and chairs to sit on plus settee no just on bed like so many other hotels .Good shower but just needs a bit of TLC on tiles. Food was what you would expect from a budget hotel not much choice but tasted ok. The staff were very good Happy and Polite.

Lovely position right by the pier. Room was big enough for the three of us to be comfortable. Staff were very helpful even if the lady at breakfast was rushed off her feet, she did well to keep up. We did end up waiting for the lift a couple of times but that was breakfast time and we were in the basement breakfast room. The cost was amazingly cheap and we expected the hotel to be so too but it was a very pleasant surprise and we enjoyed our stay very much.

Fairly cheap and cheerful in an excellent location. Dreadful shower though (very poor pressure) and our room was extremely dated decor wise with very thin walls. Friendly staff, so overall a positive experience but could have been slightly better.

Pleasant staff, great location and reasonably priced. Rooms were clean and sufficient for my needs as a business traveler and perhaps what I should expect from two star hotel.
A slight negative in that my TV wouldn't switch on which I solved by asking for some new batteries for the controller at reception. This was taken care of straight away and these things happen.
One thing that does need addressing is the shower and the plumbing. My shower wasn't any where near powerful enough and this might be due to the shower head needing replacing or the water pressure to that room not being good enough. This was raised at reception and maintenance were due to visit but that didn't happen. The water in the shower tray also took a good while to drain away so the hotel do need to take a look at the plumbing. I think I was in room 312.
Other than that a good experience and I would stay there again for the next phase of my business trip this year.

We loved this place. Would give it 5 stars except for the rather thin walls and the shower was not much more than a trickle. It was spotlessly clean and the staff were very friendly. Great position and we could park very close on the road for £1 a day. We'd definitely go back. Fantastic value

We got a very cheap deal online. £37 For the night. Staff were very friendly and the room was spotlessly clean. Right opposite the pier. You could get a nice sea view if you payed extra. The stairwell to the upstears rooms was in our bedroom so it was quite noisy but you get what you pay for. We enjoyed our stay thank you

Nice Hotel. Looks better in the communal areas than it does in the rooms. The rooms need a refurb as they're bit shabby looking.
Nice selection of beers ales, & spirits at Hotel Bar. Good Prices.
Receptionists were very helpful & friendly.
The downside of my stay was, One of the Waitress' s were incredibly rude to me & the cooked breakfast was barely warm.
Overall it wasn't too bad. As I only booked it for a mini break I stayed for 4 nights. It was very cheap to book via Expedia.
The Afton Hotel is nicely located on Eastbourne Seafront just walking distance to the pier & the shops.. Would I stay here again? Probably not. But certainly a mixed experience....

This was a wonderful hotel - typical seaside hotel. The staff were very friendly when we booked in and the rooms were clean and pleasant. Plenty of wardrobe and drawer space, tea and coffee making facilities etc.
I could lay on the bed and see the sea which was lovely. My only criticism is that we checked out before reception opened at 8am and there was nowhere to leave the key. I didn't want to leave it on the counter and so I ended up throwing it onto the receptionists chair as it wouldn't be able to be reached by anyone other than staff. We didn't know the night before that we were planning to leave as early as we did and so hadn't asked the previous evening what to do when checking out and reception not open.
All in all it was a lovely hotel in a very handy location - near the seafront and the shopping centres.
