A family run restaurant serving v authentic Italian home cooking.
Well cooked and greatly enjoyed, we had grilled vegetables, bruschetta, veal, cheese pizza, good wine and deserts. Lovely!
I'd visit again if we're in Eastbourne. Try it - you won't be disappointed!

Six of us meet regularly as ".the ethnic dining cub". we had an excellent dinner served by the close knit family who own the restaurant. Very good Italian food served by caring and dedicated people. Restaurant full with a lively young clientele but we older people were looked after beautifully.

While visiting Eastbourne, we were looking for somewhere to eat that welcomed dogs as we didn't want to leave our Labrador behind at the hotel alone for too long. We were made very welcome and the food and service was outstanding. Thank you for a pleasant evening. Louise Elcock, Andrew Harrold & Bonnie.

Visiting Eastbourne from the Midlands for a family funeral we were lucky to happen upon and get a table at this lovely popular restaurant. The food and wine were excellent and the friendliness of the staff was exceptional. Thank you for a memorable experience.

Stopped over for lunch following a visit to the seven sisters - a local chalky cliff, another worthwhile place to visit.
Enjoyed the bruschetta, tagliatelle bolognese followed by tiramisu. Partner had the mushrooms, Neapolitan pizza (with mozzarella added on our request), and chocolate and almond cake with his cappuccino. All for under 30 pounds. We felt very welcomed and very much at home (including our dog) by the friendly Lia and her husband.Next time, instead of the lunch menu, I will try the seafood pasta.

Top of my list of memorable visits to small family run Italian restaurants in the UK was a lunch at Osteria Antica Bologna, Clapham in May 1990. The restaurant had only been open a month and still exists today but is no longer family run and is only a shadow of its former self.
My first visit to Anema e core in Eastbourne reminded me of that lunch. My wife and I shared an Antipasto del contadino which was better than some I have had in Italy. Grilled thin cut slices of peppers, courgettes, pumpkin, aubergine and polenta together with smoked cheese and an artichoke heart. The olive oil based dressing was just perfect and the presentation was so good I regret not having taken a photograph.
My wife had the Gnocchi funghi e salsiccia which she declared outstanding, and after I had tried some I had to agree. I had the Ravioli al ragu di cinghiale which was made with the kind of beautiful egg pasta that only the Italians can make and combined with the wild boar filling made a simply outstanding dish.
There is nothing complicated about this terrific family run restaurant, just good ingredients and traditional Italian cooking at its best.
Together with a large glass of wine and a beer the bill came to £40.90 - worth every penny!
The only problem is that I live over an hour's drive away.

A quick scan down the reviews told us that this was the place to be for lunch. An hour and a half later, we were not disappointed. Family run and recently relocated from just around the corner, Anema e Core shows just what can be done by sticking to one's guns and serving fresh, home-cooked style food. The funghi were fresh and tasty, the pizzas authentic and delicious and the tiramisu mouthwatering, which was handy after all that had gone before. We opted for the Nero d'Avola with the mains and at £17.50, it's one of the stars of this year for me. Until next time!

Visited this last year in its previous addresswhich was cramped but still very good. Now in new premises same high standards and welcome are maintained but the space is greatly improved with a light and airy extension to the rear

I went here with my Mum and Dad, as they had been raving about it for weeks, and it was absolutely fantastic from start to finish! This is a family-run business, with the mother and father in the kitchen, and their daughter and her fiance as the mainfloor staff. They welcome you in as if you are part of their family, make personal recommendations and have an intelligent understanding of wine and ingredients. They want to accurately represent the part of Italy that they come from, so everything from food to decor is chosen carefully for this purpose. We went on Easter Sunday and the bill was served to us inside a chocoalte bunny, which was such a lovely touch. The food iteself was absolutely flawless, the most delicious calamari and spaghetti I've tasted in a long time. Please visit this restaurant, you will not regret it!

Run by a family from Salerno, at the edge of the Amalfi coast as you head towards Cilento, this is extraordinary, friendly, authentic southern Italian cuisine in the heart of Eastbourne. In a town blessed with several good Italian restaurants, Anema e core ('heart and soul') doesn't merely hold its own against them but also against the myriad of impressive places to eat in Brighton, further along the coast.
This is sumptuous, fresh, lovingly prepared food with an equally impressive wine list (ask what they have in from Campania and Puglia). However, it's the service which really and truly sets this restaurant apart and makes this one of Eastbourne's very finest - in any category. This is a family run enterprise and the hospitality is like you have stumbled into a neighbourhood restaurant in Amalfi or Praiano.
Absolutely delightful.

We loved the freshly oven cooked pizzas! The tasty crust was delicious. Antonio gave us a nice explanation on how the dough was made. The place to be for pizza lovers!

Been here quite a few times now and the food never disappoints. It can get busy on a Friday or Saturday evening but the service is always friendly and reasonably quick. The pizzas are the best in Eastbourne, beautifully light and thin, authentically Neopolitan. Pasta is good too, but the pizzas reign supreme here.

Took us sometime to find new location due to google delay but thank you kindness of Dutch resident of Eastbourne which guide us on the rainy evening we found it. This is very nice Italian restaurant with very helpful, attentive and polite staff. Very good choice of starters more than decent wine list, which brings us to mains. Despite advice of lovely waitress to eat their specials: pizzas and pastas we went for seafood dishes. I had Frittura di Pesce which is Neapolitan seafood dish and this was disappointing, however you wife has chosen Branzino del Pescatore (Sea bass fillet) and she was more than happy I tried her food and it was delicious. Desserts were very yummy too! I am looking forward to the next trip to Eastbourne to try their specials. One more observation, we were quite impressed by their size of vegetarian and gluten free menus so anyone can be accommodated A+++

Wanted lunch before the theatre in Eastbourne. This came highly recommended and we were not disappointed. Does not look great from outside, but clean and welcoming inside. The menu was vast, lots of delicious things to choose from,
Our selections were perfect, iced fish to share, then a veal and Gorgonzola dish, and a steak with Parmesan and rocket.

I brought my mother here on March 25. We were seated in the back at a less than optimal table for four people that was tucked behind a work area and next to a window looking out the side of the building. From the beginning the staff were attentive and balanced a friendly approach with an appropriate level of enthusiasm for their work. Smiles are given freely and food and drink is priced sympathetically. The food provided was tasty and well cooked without being pretentious. We drank a very pleasant bottle of white wine. If I'm being honest, I've had better quality steak elsewhere but, what was served was nevertheless flavourful. I would be inclined to return but, perhaps order a simpler main course like a pizza perhaps. The calamari starter was good. The cafe affogato was disappointing by Italian standards but the coffee was very good. If I managed this place, I would seek to improve the ingredients used and the standard of the more expensive choices on the menu. I would NOT change the front of house staff who are all excellent. Worth coming to. Choose carefully and enjoy the surroundings, the service and of course the food.
