We ate at the Crown & Anchor a couple of times whilst staying at the Travelodge. On first glance it looked like a locals pub but we soon realised it was a mix of locals & visitor and everyone was made to feel welcome and the pub itself felt very cosy with candles on each table. The food was great! I had Sausage & Mash the first time we ate which was lovely, great selection of vegetables too, & my partner had one of the burgers which he really enjoyed. The second time he opted for the burger again as he'd enjoyed it so much the first time whilst I decided to have the Roast Beef. I can honestly say it was the best Roast Beef dinner I have ever eaten out! Mmmmm! It was all very reasonably priced too but far superior to chain pub meals. Thank you for making us feel so welcome!

The crown and anchor was a really nice pub, there is a large tv showing the olympics, a good selection of drinks (speckled hen always goes down well!) and the staff were very friendly. We sat out on the path on one of our visits, it was really nice to sit and people watch. We stayed at the Travelodge which is about 100 yards along the road, so it was really convinent for us and the best pub we found it Eastbourne!

My wife and I were staying overnight in Eastbourne
on Saturday night (14th July) on the way home from France and calledin at the Crown and Anchor for a drink - we were amazed and extremely pleased by the warm
welcome from helpful bar staff and stunned by the great andreasonably-priced food we enjoyed. The owners have restored our faith in the
British pub - the Crown and Anchor is a modern take on a goodold-fashioned boozer!
We hope to call again

We stayed in Eastbourne for a day and night to attend a friend's wedding reception. We came across The Crown and Anchor pub not far round the corner from where we were staying and were immediately attracted to the "Real Ale" sign despite it only being 11.40am! The bar staff were really friendly and the pub had a nice atmosphere and we enjoyed our 2 pints immensely. Following a spot of shopping in the town centre we were lured back to the pub for another 2 pints of real ale and a browse of the food menu, We left to book into the hotel but returned, again, after this and had yet another 2 pints of realy ale and 2 of the best pub meals I have ever tasted. I had home made chilli which was a huge plateful and extremely tasty - my partner had a cheese burger which came served with wonderful chips and sauces galore. We noticed a band were booked to play in the pub later on so we left the wedding reception and returned - yet again - to the pub listening to the sounds of Pink Floyds' Comfortably Numb enticing us back in from the street. What a lovely pub to find and a great way to end our evening! We shall return, I have no doubt.

On a recent visit to eastbourne, whilst walking along the sea front we noticed the Crown and Anchor with its beautiful ivory outside and clean seating area, we thought we would pop in, when we entered the pub it had one of the friendliest atmospheres we had been to in a long while, surrounded by young and old, regulars and newbies the pub welcomed everyone! after our first drinks we decided to grab a bite to eat in there... short and to the point menus meant it could of only been made to order, fresh food! Which is what it was, I had the FULL rack of ribs, no half portions and was beautiful, my friend had the lamb shank which fell off the bone, and my other friend had the ribeye steak which was mouth watering! This pub is well worth a visit just for a pint, a bite to eat, soaking up the sun or the live bands it has it all :) :) :) A+

What a fantastic pub the Crown & Anchor has become under different management. Apart from the physical changes (looks great!), the ambience is improved by friendly, helpful staff & food to write postcards home about - would eat here every day on holiday, right by the beach, affordable but delicious home cooked food......what more could you ask for?

I've been coming to Eastbourne for years now and I have to say - this pub was always one to avoid in my book. I thought I'd give it a chance last week for the first time in years and I was shocked by the transformation! I had roast beef and my wife had lamb shank - both were lovely and very reasonably priced. The staff were friendly and I can safely say I'll be going back on my next trip to Eastbourne, later in the summer.
