We'd been to the Crown & Anchor previously, so were expecting great pub grub.
Our orders were efficiently taken and the drinks were perfect, however, the food was on this visit disappointing. We both had fish & chips, and the batter on the fish was rather soggy and the chips soft and a little under-cooked.
We're not sure we'll be back .... a reputation lost on us !!

Great pub with good service and great music acts.

We saw Dirty Martinis who were very good everyone dancing and enjoying the great atmosphere.

Efficient bar staff and food looked great too.

I've been to many pubs in my life, and the Crown and Anchor is a normal, nice pub.
Eastbourne is a town close to Brighton, at the end of the Seven Sisters trail. The pub is a convenient location for a meal at the end of the long walk. I truly suggest it.
That said, well, it's a (Green King) pub! Enjoy your beer, the chunky chips and the friendly environment. The lamb burger was original and tasty.

Nice pub close to our hotel (Queens) Good selection of beers although a little dearer than my local in the Midlands. Did not have any food as we were on half board at our hotel but each and every meal that came by me looked delicious. If you are a sports fan then the is an area for you, pool, darts and TV

Whether you want a good pub meal or something more substantial, the food here is excellent. Staff couldn't have been more friendly as were the regular customers. Also very dog friendly.

This was our first visit to this Pub/Restaurant and the going was great. The place had a welcoming atmosphere with no kids running about unchaperoned like in Wetherspoons or the Carverys. There was no music or gaming/amusement machines either just good food and alcoholic drinks of your choice as well as espresso coffees.
the staff were very pleasant and welcoming. The food we had was delicious and in very ample proportions . The starters were plentiful we had Mushrooms in Garlic butter with garlic bread and Tempura Prawns.for the main courses we had a steak meal done to perfection and a Pesta Pasta dish. They have a great chef and my compliments to him. Can thoroughly recommend this pub, we will be back.

The function room itself is a good size with ample bar area for size of room with dancefloor and own toilets. Can also see the sea from it. The buffet that was supplied by the pub was one of the best buffets I have eaten (there has been a few). Proper cuts of meat, antipasta, prawns really top end food which was great. Service good and bouncers friendly. Ideal for a party.

This is a lovely friendly pub with a good atmosphere, There's an extensive menu both in the menu on the tables and some excellent alternatives in the blackboard. The staff are pleasant and polite. Recommend this pub for a drink or a meal.

Had a lovely meal here after a great walk along the sea front. The staff were friendly and helpful and the veggi sharing platter was lovely.

Great pub for family meals, meeting friends, playing pool or watching footie. Seen some great bands on Friday and Saturday nights too. The awesome function room upstairs is a cut above anywhere else in Eastbourne for celebrating special events. Got to say the bar staff don't keep you waiting and always have a laugh too - great boozer :-)

Went here a few years ago and again last night. Great friendly atmosphere. Attentive staff who point out waiting customers to each other to save them waiting. Good beer and decent live music. Although I was on my own I didn't feel alone.

During our few days stay I eastbourne during easter half term, my other half had spotted this pub on the corner just a stones throw from where we were staying. I was a bit sceptical as from the outside it looked a little like any old pub, but it has been decorated with modern touches. The menu was traditional pub classics but lovely to see they had vegetarian and vegan food. What we ordered all came out piping hot...I had the cod...it was beautifully flaky and the batter was really bubbly. I was proven wrong and would eat here again. My little boy enjoyed his kids meal and they even accommodated my request for carrots with his peas...try and counter weigh the chips he's eaten two nights in a row haha. Would recommend...tasty food, nice local atmosphere and good prices. I understand why the got pub of the year 2016

Nice pub, with good service. There is a sign saying ask if you want a burger well cooked, and I'd advise against it as my burger cooked to normal extent was certainly well done to death - and was lost within it's bun. Chips also of the chunky but overdone oven chips type. Nothing to moan about but nothing to shout about either.
However, my friends who had various vege starters, had plates that looked a bit more appetising and indeed said so. A bit more effort had gone into these - and after all any old fool can bung a frozen burger in a skillet.

After a long walk around Eastbourne and finding that its not the most dog friendly location to be with regards to taking my dog inside as I am NOT STUPID enough to leave her tied up outside, I happened upon this little gem. The Crown & Anchor.
I walked in and was met by very friendly bar staff. A lady came straight away to see if my little buddy wanted a drink of water. She got a big bowl of cold water and my little dog Lapped up a load of it. Clearly very thirsty. Well.....that was this place sold as far as I was concerned.
I ordered a pint of Ale and sat drinking it whilst looking around. This place had a real traditional feel to it. All the bar staff clearly got on like they were all close friends yet were on the ball with regards to keeping the customers served.
It had a very friendly feel to it. I didn't eat but a lot of people were eating and the food looked amazing.
Ill be back in Eastbourne and will definitely go back to this place.

Definitely worth a visit, staff were lovely and friendly. The rodeo burger was delicious. However, the pints could be cheaper but other than that the place was clean and well presented.

Warm welcome with a friendly atmosphere. Plenty of tables but not too many. Good menu for pub grub and a specials menu on chalk board. The fish pie off the specials menu was delicious although almost too much for one person. The beer baked cod and chips also delightful and plentiful. A pub you can just sit and relax in. They aren't all like that! Pub is close to the sea front.
