Good beer at a good seafront venue not far from the pier. Efficient friendly bar staff and a good crowd in to listen to the talented Mel Hayes.

Lovely location right on the seafront, with a view of the sea from the patio at the front (if you look over the road, anyway). A wide selection of good food is available - it seems to be of the mass-produced kind, but is good quality and well cooked. Pleasant, if somewhat cramped, interior (too many chairs and tables in what is, after all, quite a small pub), and friendly, helpful staff. Definitely one to return to.

We sat outside here with beer and wine which was very enjoyable and right on the seafront.
Did not eat here but spoke to a couple who said the food was really good they had ribs, prawns, etc.
Prices were very reasonable.

Had a couple of meals here and they were lovely. The pub is very family friendly (up until 9pm) and they made a real effort to fit us in. Food was nice and service was excellent. Music was great too, although we had to ship out with the kids so couldn't stay for all of it! Very close to the seafront, even with views of the sea if you stand up and look over the sea wall!

Booked a table and arrived slightly early but this wasn't a problem. We were shown to our table with no fuss.

Great, delicious choice of food and friendly fast service.

Thoroughly recommend.

I've eaten here a few times this year, the food is excellent and the portions are huge, not normally any room left for a pudding.
Last time I visited we ordered what we wanted from the menu, the food arrived after a short wait, but I am certain the plates are smaller than before and the portions are definitely smaller , I finished my meal with ease and was still quite hungry. Is this a crafty way of increasing the price of the food ??
That said it's still an excellent pub, great atmosphere and friendly welcoming staff.

This pub was next to our hotel but we were busy all week and last night we had a beautiful 10oz Ribeye steak!! It was love served on a large slate with lovely roast vine tomatoes, chunky chips
mushrooms and it was delicious. As we left they were setting up speakers for music. It is a Very friendly and family orientated pub. Would definitely return..

We had two enjoyable days away and this place made our escape perfect. It was just across the road from our hotel and we used it just like our local back home. From beers in the early evening sun to a nice evening meal. The menu was clear and there's a good specials board if you fancy something different. The staff were friendly and welcoming.

Fantastic food and a really friendly pub. The function room was a good size without being too large and impersonal.

Stayed locally during a golf break and visited the Crown and Anchor on recommendation with the intention of watching Euro 2016. Organisation was superb with many additional staff on the night of England played. The food was of excellent quality and the staff friendly and helpful, including taking drinks orders at the table rather than the bar.
Well done to all at the Crown and Anchor!

I took my children to this pub for our evening meal on our first nights' stay in Eastbourne based on reviews from other users (and the fact that it was literally over the road from our hotel) and we were not disappointed. The menu was vast (can be viewed online) and there was something to satisfy a pre-schooler, a teenager and a hungry mother. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, with reasonable prices however I was a bit thrown by them asking me to leave a credit/debit card behind the bar for a tab (even though it was table service?!). Nevertheless, we enjoyed our meal, and would return if we were ever visiting Eastbourne again.

My Husband and I stopped off at The Crown & Anchor for a quick drink after the Eastbourne Carnival, well....we stayed for dinner and several drinks! Lovely atmosphere, very friendly staff and superb food. Would recommend this pub to anyone, dog friendly, child friendly, and a really nice place to hang out for a while. They have pool tables and outdoor eating as well.

We stopped off for a quick lunch during a walk along the Eastbourne seafront. The tuna mayo and the cheese and onion sandwiches with salad were both excellent and the wine was good and reasonably priced. Loads of TV screens for watching the latest sporting events too - a good experience!

Visited here with a mate as we were in Eastbourne for the evening. Live band playing which was great, really good music. Lots of people dancing but no elbows flying about so safe to stand on the periphery! Seemed to be quite a friendly place, easy to talk to the locals and no long queues to get served. Well worth a visit on a night out.

Was in Eastbourne for the weekend & this pub was very close to our hotel. It's a large premises which welcomes everyone. We dropped in several times over the 3 days we were there, although we didn't eat there, the menu looked tempting & the prices were very reasonable (I live in London where all pubs are quite expensive) All the food I saw being served looked really nice & good portions too. The staff were attentive & a barmaid remembered us on our 2nd visit which, given that it was so busy I thought was quite impressive. Just off of the main road facing the beach this is an ideal location for a family or couples lunch. On Friday night there was live music but it wasn't so loud that you couldn't enjoy a conversation with friends. So nice to find a real pub with friendly helpful staff. Will definitely visit again next time I'm in Eastbourne.
