First visit there tonight. Fantastic staff and the food was great. Good size and value for money. My daughter who's 6 wanted ice cream but there was a half hour wait as quite rightly the food order is placed in a queue. I couldn't wait for half an hour so told my daughter we would have to go. She was a little upset by this. The lady behind the bar then went and did the ice cream herself to ensure my daughter got her beloved chocolate icecream this was fantastic service. We live a 20 minute drive away and will definitely be going back.

We searched for somewhere to eat that wasn't a hotel and found the perfect place, it was so good we walked back there every night of our stay at Eastbourne. The food is fantastic especially the homemade chicken pate, all the staff were very helpful and friendly, it was sometimes hard to find a table as it was always full up because its so popular, but we didn't mind waiting it was that good.

We were happy to find that food was still being served at 2.15 pm on a weekday at this pub situated near the pier. The real ale ('Old Trip' on this occasion) was very good and the chilled Pinot Grigio was fine. Our fish and chips were very reasonable priced and very good: crispy batter, chunky white flakes of fish, plenty of salad garnish, a generous portion of chips all accompanied by a wedge of lemon and tartare sauce. The service from both bar staff and kitchen staff was very friendly. Boards were advertising live music on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings from 9pm.

A great find! Great choice of food from the menu and specials board. Friendly staff, plenty of them and all very polite and welcoming. Nice to have table service, great band playing in the next room, an enjoyable evening.

My family and I ate here 4 times during a 7 day stay in Eastbourne & the food was always tasty and well cooked (apart from a quiche with an uncooked soggy bottom). The young bar staff could be a bit more attentive and less interested in preening themselves. The white wine was never properly chilled and when we complained to young woman behind the bar she suggested we put ice cubes in it! I suggested they served it chilled at the correct temperature and was given some ridiculous guff about health and safety. If you're charging £4.75 a glass it should be chilled and not luke warm or put enough in the wine chiller & keep it properly re-stocked.

Cannot fault food, which was excellent for all 4 of us.
However service severely lacking.2 meals arrived very quickly, well presented and well cooked.
Unfortunately 2 did not :-(Upon checking with the staff it appeared the two outstanding meal orders had not been actioned.
Duty manager apologised and when we pointed out that 2 of our group had finished their meals we were simply offered the option to cancel :-(Not realistic as we still needed feeding !
Discount or a drink would have been a more positive solution.Great food but service means unlikely to return.

A great little pub just off the prom in Eastbourne. A good selection of real ales and a menu with a good variety. The food is excellent, large portions and cooked to perfection. It can get very busy, it has live music Fri/Sat nights.

It isn't often you can visit a place three times in three nights and say you have enjoyed the meals EVERY time !
On the third occasion we invited friends, everybody had different meals, and everyone was delighted by the standard of the food. The chef has a very imaginative menu so even the bog standard "sausage and mash" was a success. This was not my first visit, having been there on a few previous occasions, and every time the standard and choice has been excellent.

This recently refurbished upgraded pub serves great food. Service by attentive staff is very quick. On a sunny day the upstairs balcony is a great place for a drink. The downstairs bar has a good atmosphere enhanced by food of excellent quality at reasonable prices.

Just had a good atmosphere. Menu looked good at a reasonable price. Didn't eat here as we'd eaten at hotel but looked and smelled pretty decent.

Heard good things about this place and had been there previously for drinks so decided to try the food. We went on a Wednesday early evening and it was a bit like a youth club with the bar staff and their friends (customers) mucking about, the table we sat at was dirty and we had to ask for it to be cleaned. The service was good at the table the food was reasonable but a bit over priced, I had lamb shank that was obviously microwaved pre packed food with choice of mash or roast potatoes so went for roast which turned out to be 3 x Aunt Bessie frozen type not real roast potatoes. Couple bits of veg and that was it. Wife had the vegetable lasagne which she enjoyed.
The place is so much improved and the owner has done a good job, think my meal was £11.95 should have been £8.95

Went here for a drink after our walk along the promenade & ended up staying for dinner.
There was a good selection of food for both adults & children, was just hard to pick what to eat!
The service was very good & quick, I can imagine it gets busy here at times though.
We didn't have to wait too long for our food & it was all very nice, I had the scampi with sweet potato fries & salad. Hubby had half roast chicken, chips & peas, our boy had the children's cheese burger & our girl had the chicken nuggets. We all enjoyed our food.
I would recommend a visit here, the atmosphere was nice & the toilets were clean.
Lovely after a nice day in Eastbourne.

Friendly staff, decent food, and good surroundings. Far better option than any of the greasy chip bars in the nearby area...

Lucky for us we were within easy walking distance of this Pub. On both nights we ate there we enjoyed the live music. Friday night was going to be particularly busy with a 'big band' so we booked a table downstairs. The food was excellent. On the first night I had the pork. It was so delicious and I nearly cried because the helping was so large and I couldn't finish it all! On the Friday night we had a ball watching the locals jiving to the music while we enjoyed our dinner. The Crown and Anchor Public House ticks all the boxes.

We ate here following a recommendation and we were not disappointed. The tastiest pub food I have had in a long time. I had the smoked haddock florintine and is was amazing. Piping hot, great portion size and seven different vegetables. My partner had the belly pork and again just amazing. Friendly service and a good selection of ales. Well worth a visit.

Sample their tasty menu and enjoy a drink in the real pub atmosphere on offer from their lovely staff. Four of us recently sampled their lamb shanks, always a hit, steak cooked to perfection and the tastiest red pepper quiche. All generous portions that meant even our biggest eater couldn’t quite finish his pudding! If you’re looking for a function venue, small or large parties, or Christmas parties, most successful for our work colleagues the last couple of years, check out their newly decorated room.

Found this establishment by accident, just minutes from the Pier - first went there just for a drink, plenty of staff so no long wait to be served. Saw some of the food brought out to other customers so thought I'd visit on another day to eat. Excellent food, even on a Monday night the pub was busy. At weekends there is also entertainment. There's no secret to running a good public house, where some pubs struggle, this one thrives.

We always visit the Crown and Anchor when on holiday in Eastbourne. The staff are friendly, the food is consistently good quality and excellent value. The interior of the pub is lovely and the general atmosphere is pleasant. Our dog is welcome too! We will return and recommend.

Pricey but reasonably good.
Atmosphere is good. Ales are good. Food is OK. Location is ideal! Opposite the sea and in town so very close to numerous decent resteraunts and bars! Not a bad pit stop to.meet before the night begins.
