Great time at the 1812 Brass Band concert followed by brilliant fireworks. Well worth going to this annual event. The Bandstand is the busiest in the UK, they have an excellent timetable of weekly events. There is also a bar with a wide selection of hot and cold drinks.

Open air entertainment nestled by the sea. Music acts vary from the 1812 overture to Robbie Williams tribute act.
Wrap up well as you can be frozen by the night sea air

Nice place, clean.
You can't breathe in the toilet due to the strong smell of urine inside.

‘The busiest bandstand on Planet Earth’ still proclaims the advertising material. Built to the design of the Council Engineer Leslie Rosevere in 1935 it is certainly an unique semi-circular structure built in different colours of faience with a domed roof over an arena with two balconies seating up to 3500 but far fewer in these challenging times. A notice confirmed all shows scheduled up to and including June 19th had been cancelled. One wonders whether any shows will start then. For the moment the rows of velvet covered seats in the arena stand idle.

IT is a lovely piece of history which has not been maintained regularly. If nit ressolved the issues already established will get worse costing the council and the local tax payer far more. This should be priority over building flats.
