Abid Gulzar, a local hotel owner, has taken over the pier and is promising all sorts of exciting things for it....painting it gold and covering it with fairy lights to mention but two.
There are also plans afoot for large boats to be able to dock at the end of the pier!!
I do hope mr Gulzar does as he promises and turns Eastbourne Pier into the best in the country. Currently he is asking local people for any ideas they may have to realise this ambition. As it stands right now it is lovel to stroll around and take the sea air but that's about it. The entrance is a bit of a cluttered mess usually has loads of young foreign students standing around blocking the way. The Victorian tearoom is a very interesting place to visit, take in the view and enjoy some light refreshment.

My wife and I "strolled down memory lane" as we walked on the Eastbourne Pier. Our previous visit was 30 years ago when I was on active duty with the United States Air Force and we toured with our three daughters. I brought a photo taken with the kids and had a person walking by duplicate the picture with just my wife and I. Sadly, the pier is not original due to a fire; however, extensive renovation currently underway will return this Eastbourne Icon to its glory. A walk on the Eastbourne Pier is a comforting reminder of yesteryear as well as renewed confidence in the future. Enjoy!

Lovely pier with great views undergoing a refurbishment. Nice Victorian tea rooms. Fish off the pier end with hired rod.

Eastbourne Pier is a piece of heritage that deserves to be treated with a bit of kindness, the Victorian Tea Room is wonderful and the smell of the choppy at the entrance makes you remember what British Seaside is all about.
I hope someone invests to restore this to its glory - Eastbourne deserves it!

the pier is beautiful on a nice sunny day, and is very easy to get to from the town. there are lots of places to eat and drink nearby, including a tea room on the pier itself.

Eastbourne Pier became more famous after the fire which destroyed most of the place.
now the pier is back in operation, and repaired to its original state with a bit of modernasation, but it retains its original tradition.
It is a pleasant walk along the pier going towards the sea and brouse in the shops, and see the attractions on offer.
There are bars, and food outlets along the pier.

I love the pier. The fire was such a shame but now the scaffolding is being taken down and I am looking forward to seeing it back to its glory.

Lovely pier well worth a visit. In the process of being restored very quaint. Some fantastic sea views especially at night with the moon reflecting off the sea.

Lovely but still in the making. It will look grand once finished. Even the weather was amazing for this time of year

Lovely old pier which is under repair so not yet excellent but hopefully will be once repaired. Visited the tea room which has seen better days and certainly lacks in terms of food and service. A good opportunity to wander around and see it before it is back to standard.

Our recent visit was during the extensive restoration of the Pier after the fire.
And its looking good. the floor timbers were almost laid and the whole project has been sympathetically done to blend in with the original Victorian masterpiece. Although what the Victorians would have made of the grubby, dirty club at the end of the Pier i dread to think !

A friend told me there had been a fire not too long ago. There's a lot of building work going on, so difficult to say what it will be like when it's finished. Some units open, some closed, I hope it will be rejuvenated once completed.

It is a great place for a walk in the afternoon. Despite there are not many things to see, the place is nice.

Fantastic stroll for the views of Eastbourne coastline and stepping back in time. Quaint little shops on the pier, in particular a hand blown glass shop that sells really cute little items at a fraction of the price you'd pay in Burano, Italy!

A nice good-looking pier indeed. A gem compared to other similar ones along the coast. Definitely a place to see when in Eastbourne.

This restaurant is one of our favourite reasons for going to Eastbourne. It's just around the corner from hotel and really handy if the weather's not so good. The food and service is always first class and there's always a lovely intimate ambiance. Gets a bit busy at the weekends...

On visiting Eastborne we decided to walk the pier, what lovely views of the town from the end of the pier. It was a lovely sunny day with calm seas. The floor boards have been replaced in some areas, and the walk it smooth and level. Many interesting shops and I must put on record that is was absolutely fantastic the way all concerned have rallied round to try to get businesses back to normal following last year’s dramatic and traumatic pier fire. I wish them well.

Its not as great as brighton but its still worth a visit. I think they had some breakdown a year or so ago and was under refurbishment, so was half closed. if you are around than give it a go.

The Pier is not too long (like Southend's one) and has fantastic victorian-style quirky pier architecture. Lovely sea views, naturally. The cafe was very nice, if a tad expensive. Fishing rod+reel hire at the end, a nice touch. Very good pier, oh and a good pub..

An old fashioned pier experience. Not too big, but big enough to take you back to the heyday of the English seaside experience. Currently being refurbished, so not totally open.
